Jorgeflo7 Yo no digo que Vicente sea mas importante que Ramon Ayala. Si no que todos usualmente toman con las Rancheras. Siendo de Durango yo se que Norteñas son mucho mas escuchadas en el Norte.
That’s definitely an Anthem... it’s part of a genre we call Norteño or Norteñas Tragos Amargos by Ramon Ayala This type of music is mostly known for its storytelling type of lyrics.
I once saw the physical power this song has at a family event including my brother and dad. Every guy, dude,or man over the age of 24 started knocking back cans of beer and shots of who knows what
Had to come back to this video that I’ve seen a billion times to pay respect to a Hispanic icon!!!!!! Even tho I’m Puerto Rican, this man will live forever in our hearts!!!!!!! R.i.p. doñ chente!!!!! 🤧💔🤴🏻🐐🙏🏻🕊 #MusicJunkie
This song was written by Jose Alfredo Jimenez, once regarded as the best mariachi songs writer. He wrote many classics from the 50s/60s that are still relevant. He wrote a lot of songs for Lucha Villa- another queen of the genre. Let me bet some videos of them singing together. Juan Gabriel was inspired by his writing style for mariachi and he also wrote albums for Lucha Villa.
Me recuerdo muy bien la ley del monte y un puño de tierra. My introduction to, familiarity with, tremendous admiration and appreciation for Vicente Fernandes, Antonio Aguilar, Pedro Infante, Javier Solís and many more Latino artists and songs too numerous to mention came about by my daily exposure to their music when I lived on the coast of Oaxaca from 1974 to 1977. Lucha Villa and her song "Te Voy A Olvidar" was one of the more frequent selections on the jukebox. Of particular poignancy and inspiration to me is when I later learned of the humble origins of many of these incredibly gifted artists. Thanks for the reminder!
Many people are forgetting that Jose Alfredo Jimenez changed the dynamics in the ranchera genre. He mixed it up with his penmanship. He wrote what Mexico felt what Mexico could not express in words. What the Mexico del pueblo lived and experienced day in and day out in their way of living, loving, triumphing, and in defeat. He captured the Mexican bohemian spirit, the peasant form of romance where the man would give his life for love and would court women in the form of serenatas via songs that explained his sentiments ; the feelings that would otherwise be trapped in his heart for ever. Jose Alfredo Jimenez was that release (he gave shape and form to intricate Mexican style of feeling love; ex. I FEEL LIKE CRYING BUT I WILL NOT CRY. I AM CRYING INSIDE MY SOUL BUT NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW......ETC. Who hasn't downed a shot of tequila while listening to Jose Alfredo Jimenez? Just listen to this verse one of many: Si deberas te vas me lo dices de frente... Si me piensas mandar una carta mejor ni la escribas... Este adios corazon te exigo mirando tus ojos... Y si ya no hay amor en tus ojos me voy de tu vida.... We Mexicans embrace Jose Alfredo Jimenez songs cause they speak of our pain when in love and we feel empowered and emboldened by his poetry as we try to assimilate el dolor y la pena y lo bonito del Amor. Make no mistake Jose Alfredo Jimenez is simply the best. His lyrics are of a different galaxy. Just ask Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Javier Solis, Aveces Mejia, Lola Beltran, Lucha Villa and Juan Gabriel. Juan Gabriel always said that Jose Alfredo Jimenez era el Aguila de Mexico. Just listen to the context of his lyrics. My favorite Jose Alfredo Jimenez song is " Pasaste a la Historia" date you to listen to it after you've had 5 shots of tequila...
This song "EL RAY" always struck me to be about a man who was going through some very bad times in his life, but he was not willing to give up or as they say "tap out". He is holding on to the last thing he has left in his life, his machismo and his pride. it's a song for all of us who have ever been lost and hopeless. I would love to hear an english virgin of this song. Very good video Jamel.
Un saludo y abrazo 🤗 no se cómo llegué a este canal pero me gusta ver tu reacción! Con la música en español desde México bendiciones! y arriba mi Chente! 🙋💓
Thank you for doing this song! My father passed away only a few weeks ago… and even though most of my family feared him, that all respected his and agreed that this song was about him!
Oh please do a reaction to Don Vicente’s last concert, amazing to watch & listen to him, he has such a strong & beautiful voice and gives it his all!! Today’s artists can’t even touch Don Vicente’s talent. He puts so much emotion in his songs, you can tell when he’s happy, mad or sad.. he even cries when he’s singing!! This man is a true performer and his talent is immeasurable.
@@arthurpineapplepen5209 For sure El Rey is better, deeper, and more masculine but it's close in that there is no other English song that is even in the ballpark like My Way is
The king I know well that I'm out But the day I die I know you'll have to cry Cry and cry Cry and cry You will say you didn't love me But you will be very sad And so you will stay With money and without money I always do what I want And my word is the law I have no throne or queen Or anyone who understands me But I'm still the king A stone on the road He taught me that my destiny It was roll and roll Roll and roll Roll and roll A muleteer also told me That it is not necessary to arrive first But you have to know how to get there With money and without money I always do what I want And my word is the law I have no throne or queen Or anyone who understands me But I'm still the king Yo sé bien que estoy afuera Pero el día que yo me muera Sé que tendrás que llorar Llorar y llorar Llorar y llorar Dirás que no me quisiste Pero vas a estar muy triste Y así te me vas a quedar Con dinero y sin dinero Yo hago siempre lo que quiero Y mi palabra es la ley No tengo trono ni reina Ni nadie que me comprenda Pero sigo siendo el rey Una piedra en el camino Me enseñó que mi destino Era rodar y rodar Rodar y rodar Rodar y rodar También me dijo un arriero Que no hay que llegar primero Pero hay que saber llegar Con dinero y sin dinero Yo hago siempre lo que quiero Y mi palabra es la ley No tengo trono ni reina Ni nadie que me comprenda Pero sigo siendo el rey
The second time that you thought he was singing about crying, he was, actually, singing "a stone on the path taught me that my destiny was to roll around, roll around ... roll around, arouuuuunnnddd ..." 🙃
I already know when I lose my parents I’m going to lose my shit when I hear this song, and just any songs related to this genre, Days are passing and my parents aren’t getting any younger 🥺😞 I know when I have my own kids I’ll make sure to pass down the legacy Mexican music I was put onto in my household
Minute 4.20 in the song, he sings: I came upon a rock in the road and it told me I would always be a rolling stone. The whole song is that no matter how rich or poor he is, queen or not, kingdom or not, he's still the king. He is still king and his word is the law. Cuz he's a man...He conveys that sentiment when he breaks out that " I'm a bad boy but cute " smile. It's a joke and he knows it. I'm sure we all have a grandpa, uncle, dad like that.
It's awesome that you did this reaction. This was my dad's favorite song. At his funeral we had a mariachi band playing this song as he was being lowered down.
I was fortunate to attend two of his concerts. One of which included his goodbye tour and I can attest that even at his age he was still a powerhouse👏👏👏. Seeing every person in the Allstate Arena sing to this song like it’s their own theme song is a sight to behold.
OH VICENTE FERNANDEZ was on every Sunday at my Grandparents my 2 year old Nephew would sing along and would do his moves then when he got to High School he was in band and was asked to join the Mariachis he won first place for Solo on Guitar and Solo on his Voice and Performance then as a Group and still plays with A Mariachi and it's all Thank To VICENTE FERNANDEZ AND ANTONIO AGUILAR ...Thank You Jamel AKA Jamal for sharing all these Wonderful People took me back in time WOW 🤩💃🕺
I hope mi gente isn’t driving you crazy with all these mariachi songs but you know your immensely loved for it❤️your reactions are appreciated🙏🏽 🇲🇽plus I’m loving your shirt
Here watching people's reactions to our Padrino on the day of his passing. Great reaction. 👍🏽 Jamal, you invited to eat carne asada at my house in Brownsville TX homie. We will listen to all the greats
You know you're Mexican when you're a child at a family party and your drunk uncles sway and bellow this song with the mariachi/karaoke at around the time your parents pull two chairs together so you can sleep because you're tired due to it being like 12 pm but they don't want to leave the party yet.
This guy was taught from a young age to sing so that a stadium could hear him. I remember my parents took us to one of his rodeo performances, the mic went out and he just tossed it and kept singing. We were sitting towards the back and I could still hear him clearly.
El rey My English translation The king I know well that is over But the day that I may die I know you will surely cry Cry, cry Cry, cry I will say that you've never loved me But you will be very sad And sad you will remain With money or without money I do as I want And my word is the law I have no throne nor queen Nobody who understands me But I'm still the king. A stone in my path Though me that my destiny was wonder around Wonder around then a muleteer told me It's not about getting there first But knowing how to arrive With money or without money I do as I want And my word is the law I have no throne nor queen Nobody who understands me But I'm still the king. Hope you enjoy it. 😉
