Victa 18 125cc 2 Stroke lawn mower from 1957 made in Australia.
Most likely the only one in Portugal.
Still cutting grass after more than 60 years.
Fuel mix is 25:1 with 2 stroke oil.

Yes, not surprising when the blades stick out from the base. Thank you.

Hello from New Zealand. Cant say I've seen one of those beast's. Victa yes but not this model. I got to say it runs extremely well. Good power. What a find.

Thanks, Victa did have one of these types in red sometimes referred to as the export model, but I think it was only a store brand version. Later once they became really successful in the 1960s they started exporting from Australia to various countries as I have seen them in France, UK, South Africa even Spain just to name a few and of course New Zealand.

@@WilkoinFrance I was trying to see how the cut grass exits from the blades. And what I thought I saw was the mower body has the right side higher than the rest of the body. Perhaps you could explain in little detail how it works. I worked as a toolmaker for Masport around the 90's. I liked the cast alloy deck they made. Masport also was sold around the world.

The mower has an even height all the way around and is adjusted by a worm wheel type turning rod so both front and rear axles can be raised or lowered evenly. Just by the direction the blades spin it ejects the grass as the blades stick a little out from underneath the deck. I had a Masport alloy deck mower when I lived in Australia and loved it, the whole set-up was really strong and comfortable to use.

All the information I can find shows that the Model 4 Victa Automatic came out in late 1957 and carried on into 1958. But mine is probably then a 1958 model, anyway 1 year doesn't make too much of a difference to me, it's still nice to have it running and these days located in France.

If you visit this website and have a look through the pages you can find that they mention August 1957 as the release time with displays up in September and October 1957 with a run up to 1958, but it remains a topic without any 100% solid information. www.outdoorking.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/47929/3.html

Hello and greetings from Australia. How on earth did you get a Victa! It’s so good to see it working so well. Please feel free to reply for any advice etc. I restore these and would be happy to let you know sizes for bolts, etc etc if you need to find replacements, which you should be able to do easily in Europe or ebay links where you can get other components at reasonable costs
@WilkoinFrance
@WilkoinFrance 3 года назад
Hello and thank you, bolts are actually a bit harder to find in Europe as the Victa uses Imperial bolts and most of Europe is metric. Perhaps Ireland would be an option, of course the UK has plenty, but is no longer part of Europe, making it more expensive to get. I do have a lot of bolts and spares to keep these going that I brought with me when I moved from Brisbane to Portugal.

@@WilkoinFrance ahh that explains the victas. You can use UNC a thread bolts interchangeably with the older BSW bolts.

Ok, thanks for the tip. The only bolts that I see as almost impossible to get are the shoulder bolts that hold the side guards on, as is common when removing them the old ones snapped, I have 2 originals. I know they are available with an allen key fitting but not with a standard bolt head.

@@WilkoinFrance yeah they are a rare one. I think they might have been made in house. Apparently we are in some mower groups on FB

Yes I am in some of the mower groups so I keep up to date with that too.
