@@cherieodell9048 I'd say that an added danger of gifts from narcs is that, while they can be charming and truly generous at times, when their thoughts turn dark they review in their minds all the gifts they've given & they feel that you really owe them. I mean, in their minds just being around them is an honor, a gift in it's own way. And of course they minimize all the things you've done, and all the pain they've caused. They actually feel there's been an imbalance in the relationship -- that they've been cheated! And this is true whether you asked for the gifts or not. This feeling that you owe them also contributes to their post-breakup rage. And if you start turning down their gifts while still around them, they feel insulted and angry too. You really can't win with them... It's so much better to dodge them early before getting mixed up with them!

i can, but I'm a nihilist who scores over halfway on the psychopath test, I've long gazed dispassionately upon this world and watched it without emotional ties,so I'm fine with far worse than this, I've seen the worst this world has to offer,and i applauded it's absurdity and laughed at the ludicrousnesss of society, i see all as ephemeral, vapid,and meaningless lest we give it meaning,i refuse to give value to what doesn't give me value. I'll do now as i have for decades, watch and listen, as the world bleeds,burns,and breaks,I'll observe, so dance,die,live, struggle, succeed, suffer...do as you will, i shall do the same in turn. I'll watch and remember it all,this brilliant flash of life, before if vanishes I'll accept it all, the love,the hate,the murder,the tragedy, everything life has...I'll take it for myself, not because i deserve it,not because others don't... just because i can and i decided i want to, i want to view everything and decide what i see as worth my time and effort, regardless of others opinions against me, i will live life as naught but a path unto death. why say this? why not? I'm bored,not like it matters, words are meaningless more often than not, am i even serious or just spinning a story? answer: it doesn't matter because eventually it can't so therefore why try to force it, holding on tighter just makes it hurt more when it's torn away, in such a fragile and delicate world, why hold on so desperately to what breaks so easily.

When I was much younger, there was this guy who kept inviting me to go sailing with him. He even came to my house. My dad stated that he thought he was a nice guy. But there was something "off" about him, something about his eyes. Riding in a car on a first date with a man is risky enough. Remember the old "dime in the shoe" trick so a young lady could call home if things went bad? But what woman in her right mind would allow herself to be trapped on a boat on the water with a man she barely knows?? I did not listen to my dad. I said No to the guy.

@Ghost80
@Ghost80 19 часов назад
That information was incorrect. I’m from England and I know this case. The visits were supervised. The supervisor took the children to his house. He pulled the children in and slammed the door in her face. She wasted time knocking on his door for five minutes and then calling her boss to ask him what to do. The gasoline had already been poured around the house. As soon as the kids were in the attic, he locked it and started the fire. By the time the supervisor saw the smoke and called the fire service, the house was already burning so hard, there was no chance. It wasn’t completely the supervisors fault. No one saw this coming. It’s only been in the past few years that the police have started looking into the psychological part of domestic violence. They are now understanding that an abuser will do anything to not only be in control until the very end but, will punish those who dare stand up to them. He did this to punish his wife. His children were just objects he owned and to use as a weapon. He took himself because he knew he would be punished in prison and as always, bullies can give but they can’t take.

I can see how she eventually got worn down. Things aren't perfect now, but they're a lot better than they were.
@ellyjett
@ellyjett 2 дня назад
Well, she could have still kept saying no, and for goodness sake not marry the man. Instead he broke her down, and even wanting to leave wouldn’t because thinking another baby will surly fix an abusive man right? Thousands of red flags but she married and had kids by him than keep rejecting. And sure, maybe he would’ve hurt her for continuing to reject, that’s always the gamble women take by saying no, but then there’d probably wouldn’t be two dead kids at the end of this story. I just wish more women were taught the abuse cycle, and what to watch for, and there’s resources and help out there to break out of it. Praying and hoping your man will change won’t stop him from using you as a punching bag, or killing your pets/kids/family/yourself.

Authorities were utterly useless in helping her. The creep was a nineteen year old & the police viewed him as harmless, even though she was really scared of him. They just viewed him as a love struck kid with some mental health issues & basically did nothing. One night, creep decided to break into her home. Her Dad, who was ex military, heard the break in. He found the kid & shoved a gun in his mouth & told him in no uncertain terms that if he ever saw him again, he'd blow his brains out. Well wouldn't you know it, the stalking stopped! They never heard from him again! Sometimes a nice clear message is all someone needs to stop their behaviour. Narcissistic men ( in my experience) will punish their wives for loving their kids like kids need to be loved. They are jealous of their children. My ex, during our divorce, paid more attention to his mistress than his children. Then when it came down to the divorce being finalized, he suddenly had an interest in our children again. Because he knew how much I loved our children he would tell the kids things about me to try and alienate them from me. We had 50/50 custody. I cannot even imagine what he would have done if I had tried for more custody like my lawyer suggested. He didn’t want me anymore but he could not just let me be. He was always trying to pick a fight with me and did not get the hint when I would not engage. He would try to escalate things by saying he was going to take me to court. He then wanted to do mediation. I tried that. He tried to manipulate the mediator with his charm. I stood my ground with him and promised myself I would never be in the same room as this man again. Narcissists are not good people. The courts just don’t see it. Luckily my kids have seem to have been able to grow to adulthood without too much trauma. But usually trauma doesn’t always surface right away

Those poor boys should be adults now, and Paul is only days younger than my grandson. They should be enjoying their lives, but they lay in a casket or in an urn somewhere. I am SO sorry for their mother, who has had her entire lifetime changed by the actions of an evil man who thought of no one but himself as narcissists are want to do. as the survivor of an abusive marriage, it is virtually impossible to leave (with 2 children) if you are financially dependent…. unless you have someone who can take you in. I was blessed in that my mom was grateful to take us in because I had ZERO dollars, & that also means there is no way to get a divorce lawyer by yourself unless someone helps you pay for it. BUT, plot twist, a year later, my MOM is now trying to be controlling… but thankfully not as much as exhusband!😭😭 I love ALL of Dr. Grande’s videos…. it’s like a therapy session!!💚💚

There are often low income lawyers or a program for legal help for victims of domestic violence. Check in with your state government for resources. The other thing is, you can file without a lawyer as well. It's not easy and depends on how much of a fight they put up but it's not impossible.

A lot of marriage counselors actually try to dissuade the couple during premarital counseling. Of course, this is primarily to test their commitment, and may not shatter the "love is blind" thing. At my church, the pastors counsel with the objective of lowering expectations down to reality. And they advise everyone to "marry well." But how many people listen to advice?

Twenty years with the first then twenty years with the second. Just got away from this two years ago because he passed away. I'm still learning how to love myself again and rid that shame blame and forgive myself for staying with them. The only advice I can give to anyone who wants it is. Run as far as you can! We had a similar case here in Sweden 2013. The dad Jonas Olsson burned down his cabin on Dalarö with his 3 kids inside. He made one attempt to set the fire and texted the mom "tehe revenge is sweet, you dumb B!" Then he noticed that the fire didn't take so he turned his car around and made sure the fire was set. He had barricaded the door maybe even the windows (dont remember 100). The daughter made it out alive but the two sons didn't make it. Absolutely horrific.

This was a tough one Dr. Grande. I struggled hard to reconcile what unimaginable pain, sadness, suffering and anger Claire, the beautiful boys mother must be living with every single day. How is this possible for humans to comprehend. Then, I remembered the victim impact statement made in 1992 from Isabell Darren. Isabell’s little brother was a horrific victim of Jeffrey Dahmer. If you aren’t familiar with Isabell’s emotional and traumatic courtroom outburst during Dahmer’s sentencing, please watch. I now know the life sentence of emotional purgatory Claire must live. God speed to you Claire and may your little buddies rest in eternal peace.

After knowing how malignant narcissists operate from personal experience, it didn’t surprise me how this sad horror story ended. I wish people could learn from early age the signs that they are dealing with a narcissist. Love bombing is one of them and a very powerful manipulative tactic. Tricking their victim into conceiving a child or more is another manipulative technique. The possibility of harming the children become their primary weapon. Pitty play or playing the victim, another powerful manipulative technique. Keep your eyes open specially if you have low self esteem and if you are too empathetic.

What this guy did was crazy. Killing his sons and himself in a house fire was not gonna make Claire regret defying him. It only made Claire regret marrying and having children with him as Dr. Grande stated. I believe Claire loved her sons despite who their father was and did all that she could to protect them from that monster. But, unfortunately the system failed these children. If I were Claire, I would've gotten a restraining order against him and request that he has no contact with his sons because of his violent behavior. People like him are a danger to the world. You never know what they're gonna do when they're in a fit of rage.

@stancexpunks 14 дней назад
Dunno which case you’re referring to but they were prob referring to postpartum depression/ psychosis when saying the woman had mental illness… men can’t get that. Plus the father has a violent history. That’s who he is. It wasn’t a sudden out of the blue episode with seemingly no motive. He had said and done a lot of things over several years / more than a decade to make the mom believe he’s dangerous. He has no history of mental illness. He was feuding with the mother over custody. He planned it in advance. It is clear why he did what he did.
