lucien Taar I’m not sure he’s so unbiased. In fact, I doubt he would say that of himself. I guess it’s a little hyperbole you’re using here. He’s wonderful to listen to. His level of education certainly exceeds mine and most of the people I associate with. That makes him all the more interesting. However, I think he would applaud the application of so called ‘critical thinking’ to anything he espouses.

@Mike Markwell, I disagree. He has a clear, heavy, and unapologetic right-wing bias, and that's okay. But it's wrong to assume he has no bias because he speaks well and (I imagine) he would be the first to tell you that. As an example of his bias, he decries "intellectual elites" for not thinking through the arguments they use to champion their causes citing water transfer issues, open borders, and clean energy debates. Fair enough, you should always seek to fully understand your arguments, but on the clean energy issue he essentially says "bay-area people don't need a lot of power because their air-con needs are lower than in Bakersfield which needs a lot of power for their air-con and so need other sources of power." He doesn't mention the fact that Bakersfield will only continue to get hotter with unchecked climate change brought on by continued burning of fossil fuels, nor does he mention that clean energy and battery tech is improving and could potentially service those people in Bakersfield soon, and therefore it is a worthwhile cause to champion. He also subtly points out his own recognition of bias when he describes the different world views his colleagues have by the virtue of growing up in a different environment. What he subtly never does is recognize that their worldview and values have merit, he only champions his own rural-American perspective.

VDH is hardly biased in my view. He has a definitive historically based perspective to be sure, but not sure you can define it as ‘right wing’.

I wouldn't put Jordan's intellect in the same category as VDH, but that's no disrespect to Jordan, as much as it's an immense respect for VDH. They eventually come to the same conclusions, in different ways. I find Jordan hard to follow at times, because he jumps around from point to point. VDH usually sticks to a topic. Jordan speaks more to modern times and yes he does make historical references, but VDH is all about referencing history, to the world we live in today. a lot of people rely on "nazi's" as a point of reference to everything we see today, because that is all they know. VDH goes back through millenniums of "political" and "societal" history, with his knowledge and i usually find his discussions among the most compelling of anyone out there. Having said that. I appreciate "most" on the right side of the cold war that we're currently fighting against Progressives, and Jordan is right up there with the best.
