You did a terrific job. The machine delivers good sound quality and the motor is whisper quiet. Congrats on another great rescue. This is making me want a VV-35.

They turn up on eBay, and other places from time to time. I I have one that I’m working on right now a little bit at a time between other jobs. Eventually, it will show up in a video.

Thank you for the tip about not letting mainsprings unwind completely

No problem, for most Victrolas, and other Victor machines the springs are holding tight to the arbor. The only way to test it is to let the spring run down and see if it stays on. With the later post 1921 bent end/hook style springs this is not an issue, they will just snap and that's it, no slipping off arbors.

Yep - I'm old. I recognized the first record as "Am I Blue" within the first 10 seconds. How does the weight of the -35 compare to the -50? It's a stretch to call the -50 portable sometimes.

I believe the VV 50 runs about 25 pounds, the 35 probably a little under 20 maybe 16 or 17 but I haven’t had it on the scale.

The VE isn't overpowering the #2 too bad.

No, the record isn’t going to overpower the no2 reproducer. It’s the small size of a 35 horn that limits it a bit with these later records. That’s why I recommend using the smallest possible needle as I would have done here if I had any stock. With the smaller needle, the record tends not to blast quite as loud, the higher Fidelity electrically recorded ones fromthe 1930s in to the 40s.
