Oh he will. There is no better team he could have landed on than the spurs. Everytime they created a legacy it revolved around a big man. He’s gonna be just fine
I think he will. Europe is serious about their health and kids exercise in school from a young age. Being flexible and putting on some muscle will help him avoid those typical big man injuries
@@willaerley7140Yeah, but there’s something else with Wemby. Flexibility is a key factor which a lot of players simply don’t work on it. When Wemby stepped on a the court cleanup guy’s foot, or badly twisted his ankle, he wasn’t injured. What’s more, he was playing within 4 days. KP would have been seriously hurt. He’s definitely built different. And… as a French guy I pray to God for a healthy career 😅
Tony is not like that he is a bop all he does is:cheat on his girlfriend in the South of France and do it again he can’t control his pants he has no time for basketball now 🤣🤣
German guy here, it was just unfair and fascinating at the same time. Those FIBA rules with less range from 3 tighten the field for him and he´s basicly a cheatcode backed by a 7'1 (3-time?) defensive player of the year. Even though Germany played without the Wagners and Daniel Theis the frenchies looked really good out there
@@raphaellegros7106 Yes without the Wagner brothers and Theis but France did not play their major players on the wing. It was the final match to test the players competing to make the final roster of 12 for the Olympics. Batum did not play, Fournier was quickly excluded, Ntilikina did not play and Victor played 19 minutes while Shroeder played almost the entire match.
I saw the game live in Cologne, the crowd was awed at times. Germany was missing 4 starters, but I am pretty sure even with the full team the outcome wouldnt be much different. Glad Germany won the WC already, France, Greece and the US look damn strong.
That's such an amazing experience, yeh I definitely should've mentioned the players Germany were missing but got a bit caught up gassing up Wemby. Like you said dont know if even prime Hakeem was stopping him out there with the way he was shooting lol. Crazy you got to see him though!
France did not play their major players on the wing or at the back and few minutes for Victor and Gobert while Shroeder played almost the entire match. But Germany didn't play either, it was their first preparation match and they didn't show any intensity. It only started to play out at the start of the 4th quarter for the Germans.
Quick word about our narrator, 6Man. Just love this guy's delivery. Admittedly, I don't get to hear a lot of Aussies in my day-to-day but his mix of facts/stats, clips, b-ball understanding & infectious enthusiasm is a pleasure to take in. I've been a subscriber from close to day 1 and look forward to more. Keep it coming, brother!
He's probably juggling and doing math problems or some type of visual reaction test to improve his field of vision recognition, we just don't get to see that secret sauce.
Man, I’m not sure what everyone else thinks but I’m super pumped about having H. Barnes and CP. we desperately needed veteran leadership and can both plus the new guys help us win all those games we lost by just Few points.
From 7'4 dude who plays pick n roll with another 7'3 dude, yeah. Because 7'4 with a jumper was not enough, let's just give that mf passing and defence too. And dribbling, while we are at it, why tf not?
Commentators laughing in disbelief was a common theme this past season. I watched all his games and often found myself doing the same every game. Kid is unreal. And my team has him. 😤
As a French, i am really excited not only about wemby but about the all team. Looking at these 2 preparation games they really look like they are having fun playing together especially on the offensive side (which let's be honest wasn't really a strength on the french team for quite a long time). If they keep playing like this i will be proud of that team whatever the end result.
Very exciting indeed even though the main focus of the preparation was on defense... Actually they'll be good if they keep letting the opposite team score only around 15 points per quarter.
Height, defense blocks and steals, guard skills, shooting, passing, handles, speed ! all he needs now is to put some quickness to get pass his defenders, he can go down as the greatest ever if he stays healthy with winning
Hello from France ! Thanks for this video (the first I discover on your channel). I'm looking forward attending my first Wemby game in a few days before the Olympics and then during the Olympics !
Wembanyama and Gobert in the same defense is intimidating. Then you remember that there's no three-second rule in international basketball. The other teams going to Paris better have good perimeter shooters, because scoring in the paint against the home team will be an uphill battle, if not a lost cause.
@@luchogonzealaise3717 and frank ntilikina the best guard defender in FIBA ! France's weakness at the moment is defensive rebounds, they don't box out!
I have never seen a 7ft5 player that is not lumbering and ponderous. Wemby can drill jumpers especially deep threes smoothly and attack the rim like any other center which almost makes him unguardable.
@@Dempighow can a defensive player of year get targeted by teams when on offense? Luka and the mavs cooked gobert. They hunted him nearly every game. Yes, it’s a team game, but they hunted gobert and exposed him. I’ve never seen a DPOY get hunted soooo much by the opposing team’s offensive players.
France got another young athletic 7 footer in Alex Sarr with all the other wings including Zac Risacher. If they have some competent guards, the next few World Cups and Olympic Games are going to be fun to watch.
As a die hard Spurs fan for the last 30 +years of my life I’m 43 now I can’t tell you how HAPPY I am that I got. Pat Mahomes and Wemby on my squads it’s absolute insane!! I’m from KC but SA has always been a second home to me can’t wait for this up coming season GO SPURS GO!! And look out for that 3 peat for the Chiefs! What a time to be alive!!!!
2:05 this is the perfect description of him. Wemby is TOTALLY hilarious. Here is a very overused metaphor but sometimes it's the same feeling of watching an adult play kids in the driveway. Just sort of giddily laughing at the absurd towering dominance. Going into year 2, btw....
U hear his physical stats and think "no way" then u see him play and think "No way!" Mind blown. Coordination, dribbling, shooting, length, passing, blocking, rebounding, etc. He *MIGHT* be the best regular season player ever very soon. (Not sure if playoffs will be as kind since the physicality and fouls ramp up)
Besides having goosebumps whilst watching Wemby I also can't stop rubbing my hands against each other in pure excitement for the next SPURS season 🔥🔥🔥🥹
As a former hockey goalie, wemby movement near the basket in defense makes me think a lot of this. Combine this with the the juggling and the splits whole... He probably does some reaction type exercices based on some maths problems, some perception of speed and depth of skills exerices. The guy is just in advance on the game itself.
I watch both games so far and I’m just gonna say the USA 🇺🇸 not stopping this France 🇫🇷 team, they have so many young defenders that running around the 3 point line while you have two 7’1+ in the paint waiting for you to drive. The scary part of all of this they will be adding at least 4-5 new top players in the next 3 years
I called it as soon as CP signed with the spurs, he breaks Stockton's 14.5 assist per game average record. Wemby will put up video game type numbers and be in the MVP conversation.
@@jonathank786 He was always much taller than everyone his age and he always fought not to be seen as a taller player. He refused to only play under the circle, it's the fight of his life
@@cyrilleribeiro5030 makes a difference for him as most abnormal tall players usually get into basketball late his experience + size is why he plays so differently then other 7 footers
imagine being a young Turkish pro with aspirations to play in the NBA...and the closest you'll ever get is the Olympics, driving into the paint against Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama, the two most impactful defensive players in the world. "my grandpa played against Victor Wembanyama and went 0/7 and got blocked 4 times."
Wemby is like that character you created in the character creator and told the AI, "Please combine Michael Jordan with Kareem...and oh yeh throw in the 3pt shooting of Steph Curry for good measure." This kid is gonna destroy records by the time he's done.
I knew THE SECOND I saw this dude playing against the usa 18yo Olympic team when he was only 16 he'd be the best player EVER... I'm taking the 3200$ I have in bank account right now and putting it on wembanyama to win MVP this year
@RadiantandDire true. Let's just see how the young players pan out and keep the picks for as long as needed unless we can get a star with a bargain price.
