It's hard to rate Combustion Ignition since it's hard to quantity the joy you feel watching your motor-enhanced cavalry roll over your enemies with their armies being unable to catch up with the frontline.

Also, can't you just export cars to all other markets to infect them with demand for it, and make it profitable for exploring that way?

They changed the radios a bit. You now also need them for siege artillery and the final escort ship (which is pretty strong, basically an ironclad with extra buffs). Both of these are still tier 4, so I do find myself rushing radios a bit more nowadays. These techs are just so crucial for really being able to trash great powers like great Britain late game, inferior numbers be damned. The telephones have also improved quite a bit. Your pops consume them like crazy. Their inputs of lead and rubber are also very nice as profitable resource industries. You'll usually have rubber online by then and due to houseware plastics actually reducing the lead consumption of the glassworks, the electronics comes pretty much at the same time to take up the excess lead. You are right in that you will rarely research it before central command, though when I prioritize society tech in era 3, that one will usually natspread fairly early to me. I will then definitely actively go for it more often than not. Getting it also allows you to get the journal entry that boosts radio research, so that's just an extra plus. Probably not more valuable than a lot of the electricity stuff, but that should mostly be B tier imo too.

Ah, I forgot they were necessary for Siege arty. That might kick them up a tad, but I still think they're in a similar boat as radios in that you view it as a paired tech. For telephones I'm uncertain if the demand is good, I need to take a close look at consumer goods, as your pops will consume less transportation and so you have to evaluate it within that context, as I generally see expensive transport as a plus, but also want to use all the PMs. Similar consideration for radios - the luxury goods PMs on the other buildings generally seem more efficient. The tiering stuff is difficult, I was really trying to push the curve of the list down quite a bit to reflect that ahead of time research is better in the lategame, and also that military tech takes over in terms of importance in the lategame.

based on the efficience on sulfur, on the sikh empire gameplay you would actually want to start by annexing sindi cause there is a lot of sulfer in there and the pops are accepted so filling the jobs would be easy and since you joing britain customs union you would have a lot of demmand

A bit unrelated to this video, but I recall you were interested in Vicky3 for it's more economic nature and then found the game rather more militant than expected. You may want to check out the "Wheel of Time" mod! It's still fairly rough around the edges, but it's got a solid core. It has a unique "Dragon's Peace" mechanic that, while it will often break down eventually, does make borders a LOT more stable. Maybe it could be made stronger with a game option. Seanchean Coreanne is the main agressor, so if you play them it may also give more stability. The setting has magic and starts at a *very* early industrial state. It's based on a fairly popular series by Brian Sanderson. Anyway, thanks for your ongoing strategizing and insight, you're by far my favorite Vicky 3 LPer :)

I think telephones are better than C. The pop demand is crazy and you can export it everywhere. In my games, telephones are always a huge gdp boost.

There is a reason for Electircal Generation to be researched early. Electrical Streetlights are a great way to increase SoL in specific states.

Yeah it's a fantastic PM but you hemorage value in construction w/ how the ai behaves in the private queue. I really have started to like getting all the ele techs in a row to minimize the autoque being dumb, which means delaying ele for a while

I focus on military late game, because by late game i have 2x GDP of the best AI controled country, and I just need more prestige to be no1 on the leaderboard. I just go for breaking every rival into many smaller countries.

I think you're doing art silk a bit dirty. If you don't have domestic production of silk it will make your clothing factories a lot more profitable. And it boosts sulpher consumption by having you make more synthetic factories.

I have to agree with automobiles, every time I activate the PM, the building tends to lag in hiring from being so damn inefficient (making engines more expensive), rail subsidies shoot up, and it just seems like I need to invest a large amount of construction to sate the demand for automobiles when I'd rather be doing something else. The military benefit doesn't seem worth it. I feel validated by having my feelings confirmed with numbers :D
@lasseortmann4651
@lasseortmann4651 7 месяцев назад
Ok this tier list fits with my feelings that most of the later produktion techs feel really bad to research expecially if you dont have labor shortage yet
@adrianperez8695
@adrianperez8695 7 месяцев назад
I wonder what Automobiles' demand satiation is compared to its input costs both material and labor wise. That is, I wonder if Automobiles look bad from a production perspective, but their base value is so high that it can satisfy consumers very efficiently. Thus, it's an efficient way to increase SoL. That said, I only ever go heavy into automobiles as the U.S. since it gets so many nice throughput bonuses for the entire production chain.

They weren't around during the game's time frame. They would have to add a new "tier 6" row just for them for super late game.

@@ertert4tetertRIght, I think it is either that or they have to make rubber in more states OR they can make it so rubber is not required as much. There is a bottleneck with rubber that I don't like.

There's a mod for it on the workshop. It's obviously not accurate for the time period, but I prefer using it instead of going on insane conquest sprees when I wanna partially RP.

You can subsidy your electric plants now. I build lvl 1 plant everywhere and subsidy them all. Then start turning up PMs.
@generalistgaming
@generalistgaming 7 месяцев назад
Yeah, you still gotta account for if you'd be better off just adding non electricity buildings instead though, and while that does help w/ shortage levels it def feels bad in spots where you don't have enough demand to really make use of the 50 sell orders, although tbf you probably don't build ele in those places anyways.
@MrErdem95
@MrErdem95 7 месяцев назад
@@generalistgaming You should be able to provide 50 demand easily. Street lights and electric chop chops are usually enough. As you said in the video, just going street lights to avoid building more railways is big enough of a win honestly.
@MrErdem95
@MrErdem95 7 месяцев назад
Electric railways should be S tier because in transition to late game economy you need shit ton of engines. Without more engines you can't even build electric plants which makes the whole loop impossible. I don't start switching to electric economy without electric railways but that being said, if you are out of labor and you have more important techs in military and society maybe you can give it a pass for a while.

@ertert4tetert
@ertert4tetert 7 месяцев назад
Solution for Electricity is to simply not play with Autonomous Construction Queue since the AI always ruins stuff with it. Tends to make it very hard to get the journal industries for Booming Industries and all that because there are all of these buildings in the queue that are still level 0 but counting towards the requirement. Just control your buildings and actually have fun. And I don't think you want to have no demand for automobiles. You still want pops to want automobiles because they are incredibly efficient at satisfying their transportation. They always have ridiculous demand for automobiles (I mean duh, they're cars) so if you are only making a few then they are disproportionately highly increasing your SOL per building and you can still just build only a few to leave them extremely expensive. You don't need to switch all your motor industries over, but just as many as you can to still sell at 1.75x their normal value. There's no such thing as an input shortage on a good that is only consumed by pops, so demand for them cannot be a bad thing.

When talking about late game grain, why do you think you need rice? Rice has the worst pop efficiency of all grain producing methods. It is good early game, but having pop saving pms only half as effective (same absolute benefit, twice the workers) makes them much less efficient lategame.
@tariktasci5068
@tariktasci5068 7 месяцев назад
long story short, because it's one building instead of two. Pumps out a shit ton, for the same cost of construction as a regular wheat farm.
@McHobotheBobo

Rice is super efficient for arable land and is mostly found in countries with massive populations. Much better to have rice farms than unemployed or peasants
@gordyhowitzer
@gordyhowitzer 7 месяцев назад
Automobile PM would be really good if it didn't decrease engine production. Probably too good, tbh. I do like having the extra formation speed but it doesn't seem worth it. I notice in high SOL situations, Pops obsessively buy telephones, but not radios, so turning on that PM just makes that industry less profitable. It makes for a bit of a balancing act, producing enough Radios for Subs and Squaddies. I think the devs imagined a speed 3 game where you go and change your PMs regularly, state by state, but I'm speed 5 (and pause) til the day I die with all PDX games. I'm sure that's affecting my opinion.
@besacciaesteban

I just use some automob PM's and leave the rest to full engines. Mostly the lvl 2-4 engine factories that the investment pool builds here and there.
