My grandfather said the same, served in ww2 from Egypt, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. To be fair, the Sikhs were, and are, incredible soldiers and warriors.

“So I ran back and took my gun, aimed properly and fired 100 round magazine. With the result they all disappeared probably they were all killed, wounded or…anyway they went back to there original position” this man was a man amongst men truly. Not phased at all after firing out an entire magazine and obviously did a lot of a damage to the enemy with that action and thought nothing of it. Nothing broke his focus to save his captain.

The 2.5 million Indian soldiers who fought on behalf of the Allies during WW2 is still the largest voluntary miltary force in history. Their position in North Africa was crucial to the Allied effort, as fuel, food and other goods were able to get through to mainland Europe where they were sorely needed 🇮🇪 God bless these brave men, their Souls have surely attained Moksha (liberation)🙏🏽⚘️

Britain should form the Royal Sikh Regt................,raised from Sikhs living in Britain and even from India and the Punjab,.........officered by Indians,.....with no British Officer to be higher than a junior subaltern,... just a thought, Les Griffiths

You are absolutely right but I'm sure the dreaded word "racist" will pop up. Nothing looks more purpose built than a Sikh in military uniform. Imagine a Sikh regiment and Sikh cavalry escorting the queen down the mall, it would be magnificent. Good people.

They didn’t give you freedom per say. India was promised independence after WW2 for allied support during the war. Chandra Bose yes can be categorized as a freedom fighter but the INA contribution was not the entire reason for independence. The majority of INA soldiers were POWS taken by Japan who switched sides. They broke their oaths which they took under government and religious terms. When oaths to serve happened in India they were done with the man’s respective holy book or religious ceremony. In my opinion anyone who can forsake there faith can deceive at any time. Not a good trait. Also the Axis alliance would have destroyed India and the world so joining the Japanese wouldn’t have done anything better for India.

Loyal to the oath the day he took the day he signed up to serve. Oaths were taken and sworn in with the man’s respective holy book or religious ceremony. He went to war alongside over 2 million Indian troops to save the entire world of a Axis Alliance who if was not stopped and defeated would have made the world a horrible place. FYI Parkash Singh V.C is still celebrated to this day at the Sikh Regimental headquarters in India. His picture is still hung proudly on the wall. The post independence Indian Army and government has acknowledged countless times that pre independence soldiers should still be recognized as heroes.
