Did you know? The scissors and the hook are opposite tools on every Swiss Army Knife. If you see one with a hook, there's a pair of scissors on the other side and vice-versa. If your SAK doesn't come with scissors, it also doesn't come with the hook, and vice-versa. The Spartan for example doesn't have either.
You might be right for the majority of 91mm knives but the 111mm knives don't follow that trend. My Hercules has scissors but no multipurpose hook. Likewise even the 111mm Outrider and the 91mm Pioneer X boast a pair of scissors each, without the hook.
The scissors - one of the most useful tools. Combined with the hook, widely seen as the least useful tool. I wish they'd replace the useless hook with the more useful awl on the Compact, for example.
If you can’t find one of those sought-after vintage pieces get this instead, The Victorinox Explorer is a standard 91mm model with four tool layers, and is one of the few smaller knives to contain the magnifying glass. The inline-Phillips screwdriver is also a very popular feature of this model. The Explorer was also available in a Plus variation, the Explorer Plus which added the 'Plus' scales and tools.
I have preferred the Spartan for my EDC for over 50 years. I like its slimness and I haven't found the hook or the scissors to be as useful as the basic Spartan tools are for my needs. The scissors are always the first feature to fail. I keep it sharp, but I "abuse" the larger blade more and favor the smaller blade for fine tasks.
Good job. You even managed to point out a use for the corkscrew that Felix Immler haven't found/mentioned: "Use it for an attitude adjustment if you need to..." Almost spilled my coffee at that one.
Gotta have a Phillips, which model is one that comes with a Phillips screw driver? Good video, apparently there are a lot of different types of tools available.
Happy Monday Dave, in short the Spartan is the base model, the Climber is the urban users pocket pal & the Huntsman is the king of the forest as well as the suburban environment
@@arpandey7043 it depends on your personal needs, I alternate between Compacts, Climbers, Huntsman, Explorers, PioneerX's S14's S17's & S18's as well as larger 111mm SAK's like the Picnicker/Garant & Forester.
I bounce around between: Compact, Climber, & Spartan. Currently have Spartan Plus with Swiss Card or Spartan Plus with Swiss card scissors in my wallet.
