This video helped, thanks. 2 questions. If rear brake bushing has just a slight amount of left-right, is it worth doing? #2, when you do shifter or brake side, is there any lubricant or grease to apply after?
I had a little bit of side to side motion so I went ahead and did mine and I added just a touch of all purpose grease to the bushing, not much tho a little bit goes along way
Where did you get the bushings? Hardware store, or are they made for the bike? Also, how do you like the heel shifter? I have been thinking about adding one.
@historyroad you can look up cross country shifter bushings on google and find the about anywhere, prices differ everywhere. Love the heel shifter, when I ride bikes without one I forget and sometimes miss the shift lol
@@HoosierNBibs Amazon .... and that style heel pedal is the reason the bushings wear. It is so small the your heel can't avoid creating a sideward force putting more stress on the bushing. Go with the round peg if you can
The brass ones don't last as long. The walls being thicker need to often be filed down as they are not specifically made for the bike'. Also be aware if there is any wear in the the shift arm itself the bushing will spin, or rotate, in the arm instead of on the bolt shoulder wearing the arm more. use some loctite on it to keep in place. Are they worth it? cost half as much as the stock nylon, but don't last as long. A trade off. Just avoid W*tchdoctors as they charge 3 times as much for the EXACT same thing on Amazon.
