The Victron Cerbo gx ( with Touch 70 screen ) is the smartest bit of Victron kit for those who love data on the campervan’s DC & AC electrical system via the VRM & Venus OS. Get information from Solar mppt changers, multiplus inverters, shunt battery monitors, Ruuvitag temperature sensors and more all in one place. The VRM gives you access for remote monitoring and is the brains for the whole system.
This is a sponsored video with @12VoltPlanetTV , I used 12volt planet as the supplier for the majority of my van build electrical equipment long before I had any association with them.
If you wish to purchase anything you’ve seen in the video or browse electrical, please is the link below.

I do also show and talk about the VRM & Venus OS running on the raspberry pi which I have been using it over a year now.

I love the touch screen. I took me a while to realise that using the screen that combines the electrics info with the tank sensors for water and waste, you can switch the inverter from off to on or charge only without having to delve into the menus. I still don’t have wireless other than using my phone as a hotspot. Which router do you use.l? I’ve a spare data card I could use in my iPad. Also, completely off topic, what mattress do you use? I noticed how well it folds in one of your other vids. I have a bed that folds up to load my motorbike in the back, and then down again once loaded. The mattress is very comfortable but heavy to lift or bend, despite being in two pieces.
@MispronouncedAdventures
@MispronouncedAdventures Год назад
Yes, very happy with the touchscreen, been using the VRM via the phone portal for the last year and a half. Great to have a physical interface, which is not the phone to interact with. You’ll see in the next video, I have installed custom GUI mods, so I can also have tank sensors, temperature sensors and inverter control on the main flow screen. Internet wise. I have a E5577 4G router connected to tp-link WiFi router which also has physical ethernet ports. As for the mattress, it’s very comfortable. If you go to the Amazon store link in the description and then under one of the lists, you’ll find the model I use.

I'm guessing this is why you tubers are getting free cerbos so they will stop doing content with pi's which will increase cerbo sales.

@MispronouncedAdventures Год назад
Not at all, I asked 12volt planet for the Cerbo to do some videos with it. The pi is just as supported as ever. Nothing to do with increasing Cerbos sales over stopping the Pi. I bring up in the video the Pi is a great option depending on budget and skill level.

This video made me want to add a vrm 😂 it’s all about the data.. keep these videos coming. Quick question, do you have a video about your current “network” setup in the van? Spotted a tp link and a Huawei but would love to know more :) thanks
@MispronouncedAdventures
@MispronouncedAdventures Год назад
The VRM is great for those who like data! I’ve never made a video on the network set up but I will tell you it. I have a Huawei E5577 as my 4G router but that is only 2.4ghz WiFi ( and a max of only 10 connections ) and no physical ethernet port. I use the Tp-link router at the vans WiFi networks. I have the tp-link split into both bands 2.4ghz / 5ghz. The tp-link link connect to the Huawei E5577 for its own internet connect and then share that to it own WiFi ( The TP link is acting as a Wi-Fi extender ). I have a switch box which has the same gateway switch attached to it for my Philips hue and Cerbo connected via ethernet cable

What's with the displays inbuilt camera? Does it serve a purpose for the units functionality? Eg, sensing lighting conditions to automatically adjust screen brightness, or scanning QR codes of other Victron components? If it has no discernible use, what is it for?

Can you change all the settings for the inverter or do you have to go to the computer and hook it up that way? The reason I ask, is I have a Apple notebook, and don’t want windows on it. 🖖
@MispronouncedAdventures

Unfortunately no, you can’t directly change the inverter setting via the Cerbo. But you can indirectly do it. As you can download the config file and edit it in VE.config. But that will still need a windows PC. I only have a MacBook Pro. So I have a friend with works with Victron kit edit mine remotely

On the VRM web pages under advanced you can add the “gps” as the module. It has a download button under it. It will download what ever time frame you are looking at. It’s a GPX file so you can open in lots of things. I use a app called Guru maps pro.

Is the AC input only shown if you're using an inverter? I have a 12v dc system that is only charged from a basic battery charger i would like to swap for a Victron Energy Blue Smart (Product code: P01399) Can this unit work with the cerbo and where would it's data get shown on the display? I also have a smart shunt and battery protect.

Yes, AC input is only shown via the multiplus’s input connection. If you were charging by a blue smart, you would see a minus figure on the DC load side.

I find Cerbo Gx of limited value since you cannot configure multiplus voltage, current with it. Other devices unless you have BT, can't do much either. It would be better if they allowed you to plug in VE.bus/BT dongle to multiplus. Then give you same BT controls via VEconnect as BT gives to MPPT, shunt, etc. You addition will cost $500+USD and is not worth it.
@MispronouncedAdventures
@MispronouncedAdventures 10 месяцев назад
The Multiplus ( or Quattro ) requires VE.config software from a computer to edit settings. Which can be via VE.bus to USB Mk3 dongle to interface directly or it’s can be done remotely via a Cerbo Gx connected Multiplus and VRM. Whilst the multiplus are complex units and setting can be very advanced. It would be nice if basic options could be done via BT.
