I love my victron charge controllers but im now using a much more simple sungold power 4000 watt splitphase inverter. All the firmware crap from victron is such a hassle and the sungold is by far stronger and more dependable and way easier to keep running. Great install and nice equipment but reliability is king when it comes to keeping the fridge running, tv on and the air-conditioning working. Brother get a sungold or any other low frequency 1000 dollar inverter and a 100 dollar smart shunt and you and the wife will be way happier. Its so weird seeing someone else go thru basically the same stuff i went thru only to finally realize that simple dependable is much much better. After loosing everything in our fridge 3 times i parted ways with victron other than the charge controllers
@@saltytrips it does have the pass thru but no power assist. It has the automatic transfer switch and 50 amp charger. It also has a huge surge capability. I know with the sungold low frequency inverter being only 1000 bucks and not as many features it would kinda feel like a step in the wrong direction but man as far as reliable it hands down smokes the victron inverter. Now the victron stuff is nice and has lots of bells and whistles but reliable inverters that just work is more important to me . Some people love all victron stuff but my experience is that the chargers and charge controllers are great but inverters are kinda under powered for the price and take way to much time and attention. I got rid of my rooftop air and installed a 240 volt mini split and I run a 40 inch TV and everything else in the camper and never worry about what's on at the same time and I've never had a problem with the sungold not having enough power or giving any kinda problems at all. The power assist is great I guess if the inverter was to small or if the 120 needed help for some reason but with a strong inverter with pass thru I can't imagine why anyone would need power assist. The main thing is just over size wires not only for safety but way oversize for surge. That way the inverter don't experience voltage sag as bad and it will make all the electronics last a lot longer. I saw the 200 amp fuse you installed and that's a bad pinch point that will cause voltage sag when the batteries are low and you pull hard on the inverter. Use a fuse just under the wires capabilities and use big wire. I use two 2/0 wires and two 600 amp switches and two 300 amp fuses between my 30 kw battery and my inverter. It's way overkill but absolutely no voltage sag under any load. I also use two 2/0 ground wires from the inverter to batteries going thru a 600 amp shunt. It's a 24 volt system so I could never get close to over amping the wires but dependable takes oversized stuff
@@matthewknight5641 the main reason for power assist is if you have a 50a rig but your site only has 30a hookup or your mooch docking somewhere with 15a hook up.
@@saltytrips I use a 120v powermax 24 volt 50 amp and then my second inverter is a powmr 3000 24 volt with a 40 amp charger built in so if I was to ever not have the solar to carry me thru the I could plug in one or both those chargers to help out. With 3200 watts solar and this much battery storage I cool and most my heat comes from my mini split running 24.7 when I'm in the camper and I've only had to get a AC charge a couple times. With those two chargers I can adjust how much load I pull from a 110 source so it makes the system pretty flexible.
@@saltytrips and the sungold split phase has a built in charger but it requires a 240 volt input which is fine for if I'm at my mom's place but it wouldn't work at a campground for sure. I'd have to rely on my other two ac chargers at a campground.
