Used to know someone who was very dear to me. Flew out from Winnipeg to visit this person and the Calgary Banff drive was the last good memory I had with this person. Although they ended up being very poor to me in the end, I'll never forget the times we shared together and how much of a positive impact they had on my view of people and my life as a whole. Regardless, Thank you for the upload it brings back very good memories... Peace be with you!
This was your very first effort at making a video? If so, it's very well done. I finally did this drive back in 2012...was pretty much blown away as I approached Banff from Calgary. Nice job!
I went to Banff about 3 years ago now. However I came in Via Radium Hotsprings on 93. I live in Couer D' Alene Idaho, so I didn't come up via Calgary. I think it would be cool to drive out to Calgary some day. We will see, my next trip to Canada will probably be towards Vancouver area.
I was just at Radium Hotsprings this past September. You can expect a video of the area, and Kootenay National Park in the future after I edit it together :-)
thanks very very Much for your videos, they are very interesting and well done with the notes! I'll Travel for First time there and now I already know the roads ;-)
I know this video is old but ... I have a question. If you go to banff national park via the public transportation: roam transit, we do not need a park pass, right?
superhuge_bigfan!#kandee I just got back from a trip to Calgary on Monday, and got a ton of new footage for road videos. I got great new footage of Calgary's Freeways.
@@TransCanadaPhil The roads here are ok, not perfect as in Canada, but not too bad either, just average. By watching your video I'm imagining what my life would be like to live in Calgary and visiting Rocky mountains every weekend. I wish we had forests and mountains like that. It's very beautiful, I'm watching your video already several times now. I like Banff National Park, Jasper National Park and others in Canada. The Canadian prairie is also very wide and beautiful. I am looking forward to have a chance to visit there sometime in future. Have a great day!
Hi, yes I realize I've been slacking a bit. I got a new job at the Aiport here in Winnipeg and it's kept me quite busy. I do have a video that's been kind of 'in progress' for awhile that I got to finally get down to finishing. Most of the editing is done but I have to draw the signs, do the animations and so forth. I just bought a brand new car (Hyundai Elantra 2022) so I'm hoping to go on a new road trip this spring and get new footage for videos.
Nice Video. I enjoyed the ride. We drive to Canmore and Banff every summer. Middle of August is the best time I think. Late August may have rain, and Early August sometimes there will be wild fires and smoke can ruin the view up the Banff Gondola ride.
Thanks for sharing. I used to go skiing in Banff National Park every winter weekend during 10 years when I was young and lived in Calgary. My father drove the car and we kids watched the landscape through the window. Lots of memories.
Thank you for sharing your driving adventures through Calgary and the mountains. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I live in Colorado, about an hour east from the Rockies on the plains. In Colorado, the plains transition very rapidly into the mountains (more than this video). We often have to go through canyons to get to the mountain towns. It was so cool to see how much the Rockies in Alberta differ from the Rockies in Colorado. Thank you again for this video. I hope to visit and sight-see the mountains in Canada one day! Blessings and enjoy your trips!
Finding Focus Ministries thanks for watching. Yes I've seen some other people's videos too of the drive in Colorado. That Glenwood Canyon especially looks impressive.
This was the first video that i watched from your channel and from that moment and beyond i fell in love for the Rocky Mountains and your videos :) I think i watched more than a hundred times. Unfortunately i still could not fulfill my dream to travel to Canada and visit this wonderful place, but i'm hope i will do it some day.
Thank you for the video, I wanted to see the road and if I have to drive by cliffs because I am afraid from cliffs, so far it is okay, on to the second part to watch hope no cliff driving there
From Canada Olympic Park west to the city limits looks A LOT different now. Major underpass at Bowfort Rd and massive interchange construction at Stoney Trail. This is expected to be finished by the fall of 2022.
yup, I was back in Calgary in September and it is a lot different there now. I have new footage so eventually I'll make an updated video of this ride :-)
Just come across your lovely video. I live in the UK and have been priveleged to drive Calgary - Banff around six times. One such occasion was literally a few days before the catastrophic floods of 2013. Places like Canmore and Elbow Falls certainly looked a lot different afterwards. I just love Alberta - so beautiful.
Tony S Thanks for checking out my channel. During that flood the TCH was flooded out and had to be closed until emergency fixes could be made. Thanks for watching. I also have UK road videos from the 2 times I visited both last year and the year before.
I remember the first time i crossed Canada in 1999 entering the foothills of the mountains , i mean wow i was actually scared and excided at the same time , just awesome
CANADA ES FANTASTICO I LOVE MY CANADIEN DOUGLAS JONES KAMLOOPS CANADA.CANADA IS BEATIFUL.MY NAME IRMA MEXICANA.I LOVE FOREVER CANADA AND DOUGLAS JONES.
I visited family in Calgary in August 2014 and also celebrated my birthday there. Our first time in Canada. We drove to BANFF, Lake Louise, on this same highway. The Canadian Rockies is breathtaking! Loved it! Made a lot of beautiful memories.
Beautiful Canadian 🇨🇦 landscape. I notice that you use a white paint on hard shoulder of on-ramps snd/or off-ramps. While South Africa uses a yellow paint. What is the maximum speed limit on the national roads? For South Africa is 120 km per hour.
It's so beautiful country. Phil, what kind of software are you using to edit the video ? I like to do the same in my place, from one to another destination. Just like you did. So inspiring me :)
I watched your videos for a while, living in a different country. Today, living in Calgary, I am so happy this route is my weekend way to the Rockies. Thanks.
Hello I am traveling to Banff from Calgary this December. Can anyone please advise when arrving to Banff where should I line up and how much should I pay? It is my first time going to banff by car. Thanks.
Wow, Great work! I liked your editing work. Beautiful day and great music. I subbed! Keep them coming! It's actually kind of incredible how busy the Trans-Canadian Highway is. It appears to me the road has an AADT volume of 25,000 at least through the countryside!
I often wish the Canadian government would force all provinces to sign the Trans-Canada Highway as route 1. In New Brunswick, they can trade route 1 & 2. In Quebec they can conjoin route 1 with the autoroutes. I'm not sure if Ontario & Nova Scotia route 1 still exists, but they can give them different numbers . I also often wish a super route 2 could be created going north and south using Alberta 2 & 43, the Alaska highway, the Klondike highway, and the Dempster highway.
that junction has been completely redone since I recorded this. That whole stretch has, there's now a large interchange there and the lights are removed.
Did this journey is September but the bad weather meant we could only see the road. Later on we drove through to Revelstoke , on to Kelowna and made a short trip up the Icefields Parkway. It was gorgeous! Not so nice in the snow on the way back though.
Very informative video, without the annoying commentary. Thank you very very much for posting this video. Now, I'll be prepared when I visit the parks! Keep up the great work! (=
I remember when my aunt drove us to Banff when we first moved into Calgary back in 2010. This is pretty much what made me love road trips more than air travel.
Nice ride! I have seen a video going the opposite! I am always glad to see Calaway Park at 4:58 on the left- always wanted to visit there- and always wanted to see the Canadian Rockies- plus take a ride on the Trans-Canada Highway and see some of the impressive scenery on that! Wow!!!! Nice!
I've driven this road SO many times in the past 30 years. Now I'm stuck in the Hellmouth that is Houston and wishing I was heading up to Banff with my camper. So many great memories.
I would have loved to see what was on the road signs as you past by as it would be a help to tourists to firmiliarise themselves prior to coming to that point on the road, just in case you had to turn off it.
Its not an opinion, its a fact. I cant see anything more beautiful than the canadian rockies and the Utah desert. My dreams is always to visit Banff and Jasper.
Thanks Alex. I compile, beat-match, and make these continuous soundtracks myself using a Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 DJ Controller. Here's a small little behind the scenes video I did on my setup awhile back: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SFbczZ7rJI4.html
At the beginning of the video you can see the TransCanada going through Calgary as a surface street with numerous signalized intersections. It's like that in a lot of places. As well, there are a lot of stretches of the TransCanada where it exists as a two-lane, undivided highway. The highway between Calgary and Banff is actually one of the best in the whole country. So the highway as a whole can't really be compared to any US Interstate.
Highways & Byways yes, I'd say the stretch of the TCH between Calgary and the BC border is "Interstate quality", as is the Coquihalla highway between Kamloops and Hope, as well as the TCH from Hope to Vancouver. The TCH between Winnipeg to Calgary is what I would consider a "good quality divided U.S. highway (non-Interstate)". East of Manitoba in North Western Ontario, it's an inadequate 2 lane highway just as it is in eastern BC between Yoho National Park and Kamloops.
The orginal Hwy 1 from calgray to canmore (now hwy 1a) was the only route to get there and in the mid and late 1960s when they built the new twinned highway it was and looked exactly like a us interstate
It was a long time ago, but I clearly remember passing a large beautiful lake at a place where the highway curved around a mountain. Has there been a detour?
as luck would have it. I'm in Calgary right now and am planning on completely refiliming this entire stretch tommorow morning but now in 60 frames per second and with my camera mounted outdoors (like all my new videos).
