Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre Lancaster NX611 "Just Jane" has KB976 rear fuselage fitted. Dave bolts the two section together, Norman and Phil work on fitting the British built rear wheel assembly to Canadian rear fuselage.
I've already started the work to repair the AN/APS-15 (H2X) scanner, the plan is to make it part of an interactive Radar/ECM display at a future date. Now the fuselage sections have been swapped it feels like we're getting somewhere this year.
Neville, your question and answer segments are great, and give me a little understanding of what is being done and why. Please thank the guys for answering for our benefit. 😁👏🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the update Neville. Brilliant job by the guys on getting the Doncaster rear fuselage to match up with Just Jane's. Perfect. Wonderful stuff. Now the work can begin on Janes rear fuselage. Exciting times ahead. How many bolts Dave.😂 Really pleased your updates are back Neville and thanks for all your hard work bringing us them every week. Best wishes.👍
Incredible what can be done with knowledge, patience and commitment! Such good work is getting you small but significant steps further each day! Well done boys, stay warm...not easy holding on to lumps of highly heat conducting metal in winter time! Cheers
Thanks for the update Neville. This month's Aeroplane magazine has an interesting article about the history and story of how 'Just Jane' was acquired. Well worth a read.
The rear turret looks lovely. Mark my words though, you’ll need a sliding DV window in it, just like PA474. It was a field modification, for icing/visibility reasons, but in peace time great for fume ventilation and great for air to air photography.
Thank you for the wonderful exposure of the tail wheel assembly. So tantalizing are the references to the flight-worthy bits. Makes it easy to keep one's eye on the prize.
Super video Neville, great that all the bolts lined up, not quite so good about the tail wheel pin but I know this will be resolved. I’m looking forward to seeing how Jane’s rear fuselage has faired over all these years and how much work will be needed to restore it to flightworthy condition.
Thanks for another fascinating episode. Just one nit to pick, though, what you refer to as the Doncaster fuselage would be more properly known as the Canadian fuselage just as the wing is called the French wing. Sorry, my Canadian heritage coming through! Cheers!
I know how you feel Neville when you can't be there and such fun things are happening on the plane I haven't been able to work on our TBM and all the other guys are having all the fun. We're gonna be airworthy in a couple weeks
Thank you for the update Neville, I'm sure during the war there would have been aircraft with both Canadian and UK build assemblies in them if they had been sent to maintenance units, It looks like Jane will be reassembled shorty.
That fuselage swap must of been frustrating for you Nev but yet again you pull it out the bag . Well done all she is coming bsck together for the seasons taxi rides. 5 stars
I really enjoyed this video, I was seeing that Dave was using hand held wrenches to put bolts in, is there a reason he wasn't using a power wrench so to get it done faster?
Great video Nev. The Doncaster fuselage looks so good on JJ. I must admit to getting g withdrawal symptoms in between videos 😁 Can you please sleep at the EK and post daily updates in the future 😂😂😂
It's Sunday morning and while I have my breakfast I'm watching my favorite channel for this morning. Thanks, Neville and the whole team who share their work on this beautifull plane.
