It's been quite a long time since I started becoming a Reveluv, but if you're asking about SM mistreatment towards Red Velvet I'll tell you that it's real. Red Velvet always has the least promotion for their comebacks compared to other SM's groups, the one who promotes Red Velvet is the members themselves especially Joy. Idk man it's so sad to see them being treated this way, I wish SM can do better for Red Velvet's 10th anniversary but it turned out it's just a wish...

"Really Bad Boy" had references to "The Shining" and classic Universal Studio monster movies. "Russian Roulette" had echoes of "Heathers" and "Jawbreaker" "Peekaboo" recalled the cult classic "Satan's School for Girls"

The moment where the victim falls through the ceiling and then its the mini sun/fire orb coming through and the cut to the festival dance worked so well. been thinking about that shot a lot, whilst its nothing crazy compared to what we see in kpop MVs, that moment stuck with me because the storyboarding and matching the feel of that bridge worked so well for me. As for video ideas, I'd love to see your reactions to the 3 SMCU episodes from Aespa. They're like short movie/episodes that show the lore for their first 2 mini albums but from an editing pov I'm interested to see your takes on it, it'll be quite different from kpop MV reactions I think. The 3 episodes also keep switching it up a ton with a mixed media format (jumps from comic, to animation to live action constantly and I think the production value is pretty high considering its not an MV or antyhing). So yeah, I think you'll find that quite interesting as an editor yourself, theres a lot of stunt work done in there too with fight choreography as well. 😎

I wouldn't say SM is the nastiest company out there in the world of kpop, but I am kinda gonna say it is just with how they do treat red velvet :) to answer your question at 6:00!!! (long reply) ---Red Velvet debuted just at the right time to cover up two girl group dramas happening at sm at the time (jessica leaving/kick out of girls generation) in 2014, and then adding yeri to the group a year later (whether it was already planned or not it is convenient timing and I'm saying this as a yeri bias) where f(x) were in talks about not resigning contracts/sulli leaving fx in 2015 ---They added Yeri a year late saying she was too young to debut the year before- which then led to severe bullying since people already liked the original 4 line up- basically, sm did nothing to shield Yeri from the hate ---It is also rumored that they rushed this current album and its promotion to cover up a NCT sex scandal, leaving fans with only 2 weeks of preordering time. AND we also know they filmed everything within this period because of Joy being absent from her TV hosting job. ---Took sm 2 years to give them official fan colors, and 3 years for official fandom name and color ---10 years as a group and even has constant tour stops in Japan- yet doesn't have a Japanese Fanclub (which is supposed to be made by SM) unlike all the other artists under SM that do have one ---The are not dual signed to a US label despite multiple reaching out saying they want them, and despite the amount of love music critics, like the guardian, pitchfork, and billboard, give them. ---Multiple MVs have been delayed the day of release because they decide to do last min changes or they weren't finished with the video (Red Flavor, Monster, Feel My Rythmn, and now Cosmic) ---In the past year they had their first SOLO TOUR (only performed at festivals before it) after a 5 year gap and it was only through Asia and Europe. Tickets for the European stops only went on sale weeks before the dates AND the venues chosen were ridiculously small for a group of their caliber (they did end up getting a 5 star concert review by the Guardian when they went to London :)) (not to mention they've only had 3 solo tours total in their career) ---It is also known their their albums are always understocked like sm doesn't expect them to sell as much as they always do. They even sell out just during preorder period some times. ---They also only have a total of 5 group dance practices on their channel- again compared to all other groups who have one for almost if not all promoted songs ***---In the past few years (especially for Chill Kill and Cosmic) we have seen Joy become more and more vocal about her frustrations with SM and their lack of efforts to make promotion plans (joy seemed to have booked the killing voice last comeback, joy posts teasers and personal behind the scenes on her personal instagram, joy made all their tiktoks for chill kill, their promotions this year are with joys animal farm coworkers as hosts), and even respecting creative decisions from the girls (she stated that when they watched the edited cosmic mv "[they] didn't listen to any of our opinions and told us to wait. and now we see a music video with no corrections at all" -She even made a comment about how she was rarely seen in the cosmic mv and how sad she was from it. -Yeri even made a comment about how upset she was with the photoshoot quality and the album cover that was chosen, and that she reached out to staff about it. -sm even used badly done AI generative backgrounds/fills for the photobooks/promo photos *** also before this next part i would say that all girls under sm do not get album treatments like the guys do-- -Red Velvet currently after almost 10 years of being a group, only have 3 full Korean albums, 1 repackaged, and one 1 full Japanese album (which should be considered a repackaged because it only had 4 new songs) and to compare to sm boy groups: exo(12 years old)-6 Korean, 1 japanese, 1 repackaged, & 1 live // NCT(8 years old) (as a whole- not individual subunits) 15 full albums, 7 repackaged albums // shinee (16 years old) 6 full korean albums, 6 repackaged korean albums, 4 full japanese albums,1 repackaged japanese

I’m not too well versed about SM’s mistreatment to red velvet, but i know it exists. Joy recently posted (before teasers) that their comeback is confirmed for june but she herself hasn’t been told anything about it and she doesn’t even know what they’re doing. bear in mind this was for their 10th year together as a group. Joy later then said she’s frustrated because it was the start of june and there was NOTHING.. no promotions, teasers, anything. so then once the teasers were released, joy started to post ALL of them onto her own account (which is more followed than the actual red velvet insta account) in order for them to receive proper promotion. it’s just sad really. this is how they treat their 10 year old groups.. and i fear once they debut this new 12 member girl group, they will give aespa the same exact treatment.

for this comeback joy (one of the members) did a ppt all night for the concept that they wanted to do because the concept that sm presented did not suit the comeback that made all the members frustrated.... so yeah we all should thank joy for this comeback 😭

6:34 this music video is rbb(really bad boy) I also recommend russian roulette. They refer to itchy and scratchy there. Apart from Red Velvet, but still in SM, I recommend watching Changmin's from TVXQ "Maniac". There are references to Alfred Hitchcock's films

Take note thats not an MV but their dance performance instead , so their team literally invest just to make that studio type of dance video of FMR for RED VELVET.

Just becoming of their fandom like 4yrs but I've been this company GG fan for about 10+ yr. Their mistreatment to ladies is real until now. I've been to SMTown concert in Tokyo 4 month ago. Girls like RV, aespa, Taeyeon was perform 2 or 3 songs each out of their 3.5 hr concert. Just wow!

Taste 🤝 As for SM… the creative team working on Red Velvet is obviously wonderful but the management of the company give zero fs about them. Last comeback they got essentially no promotions because they slotted in other artists from the company and there was “no space” despite the members actively asking to go. Then the company gave fans wrong information and they couldn’t even come support the girls- and the company made the members individually apologize on their own message boards on Bubble. Now this is the 10th anniversary and the members especially Joy (our queen and the person who should be leading this company) have been vocal about the problems. I honestly feel like the lack of screen time she got might have to do with her public comments and the fact that she may not resign with the company.

As reveluv for 6 years, yes, SM just totally mistreatments the girls. Its their 10th anniversary but the comeback announcement just come out 2 weeks before the music release. If you dont know, that means the preorder period is short. Bad quality album, aNDD DESIGN AGHHH. they never get the world tour properly which they deserve it. The agency not let them shine just how it supposed to be. When they come to london and the tickets sold out, they shock and think how it possible for them being recognized by UK people. And many more.. i cant even explain half of them

idk why reactors get so mad when there's no lyrics, you are here to react to the music video and song. You can look for the lyrics later, because if you focus on the lyrics while reacting you will focus on that and you will miss a lot of details of the MV and song. Watch the video, listen to the song, chill, music is about the feeling and that's the most important part, then you can look what the meaning of the song is. When you listen to pop western english music most of the times you dont watch the video with lyrics, you just listen to the song and watch the MV without them, then if you want to get the full context of the lyrics and the meaning you just look for the lyrics on Genius. And btw the lyrics in kpop song most of the times have nothing to do with the Music Video, just letting you know. So you won't miss much when watching without them.

I am noticing that you have somehow not reacted to Taemin before. He is one of the best K-pop artists in my opinion. He is a member of SHINee and formerly in an SM supergroup called SuperM which also included EXO and NCT members. Due to the messy behind the scenes stuff with SM, and founder Lee Soo Man leaving, the supergroups will probably not return. SHINee has been active for 16 years and Taemin is the youngest member. Taemin debuted solo in 2014. He recently left SM and joined BPM, which is the company of VIVIZ and rookie girl group BADVILLAIN (which you should definitely react to!) He hasn't released music under the new agency yet. But his stuff with SM was top notch. He is one of the best dancers in Kpop, and is very inspired by Michael Jackson (who I see you are a fan of!). I would suggest reacting to his dance practices! You can't go wrong with them at all! For music videos, all of them are good, but I suggest “Press Your Number”, “Move”, “Want”, “2 Kids” “Criminal” “Idea” and “Advice” in that order. “Guilty” is his latest at the time of me writing this and it was the last thing he released before leaving SM. The video is a cinematic MASTERPIECE and tells a compelling story of a loss of innocence. I’d love to see you react to it as an editor! If you would like to react to SHINee, I think it could be cool to see some old K-pop videos since you haven’t reacted to any like 2000s/early 2010s videos yet. It was a different time for sure! I recommend “Lucifer”, “Sherlock” “Dream Girl”, “Married to the Music”, “Tell Me What To Do” (those are listed in chronological order). Sadly, one of the members and main vocalist, Jonghyun, passed away in December 2017. He also had a solo career and all SHINee members now have solo careers. I don’t want to make a big deal out of it as fans want him remembered for more than his death, but it’s an important disclaimer before reacting to the group as people will wonder why they go from 5 to 4 suddenly. Making a big deal out of that can be upsetting for some fans. Also, SHINee still use the backtracks with his vocals during their live performances, and ask everyone to always refer to them as 5, so just keep that in mind. With that out of the way, react to “Good Evening” (2018), “Don’t Call Me” (2021), and “HARD” (2023). They haven’t been as active as a group in the last several years due to military service and health issues (and now company issues). But all of their songs are excellent. Key’s solo stuff is great as well, especially “Bad Love”, “Gasoline”, and “Killer”. I also think you should react to everglow if you haven’t! They have a new song called ZOMBIE! Also please react to more Dreamcatcher! Their stuff is excellent! “Scream”, “Boca”, and “Odd Eye” are a trilogy, and “Maison” “Vision” and “BONVOYAGE” are also a trilogy! Also, “BEcause” is an awesome song and video! “OOTD” came out in November and is also a great video. They are coming back with an EP, VirtuouS, in July!

I’m gonna save my SM rant from here because it gets me angry talking about it. But very very short version it’s been bad for awhile but it got worse with the HYBE/Kakao takeover, look it up. Allegedly many staff have left and the company is in disarray. Artists are starting to leave and SM is going Blockberry and trying to Sue everyone (EXO CBX unit) for more money. Also they never give up their group names/logos which is why some artists don’t feel like they can leave. But many stayed out of loyalty to Lee Soo Man the founder and now that he’s left, many artists are leaving. But it’s a freaking mess.
