A note on the zombie types: They always introduce them a level before they give you their solution. For example the jalapeño, you get the day after the first Zomboni, so you need to figure out some way to defeat the new type of zombie without its best solution, and that's awsome in my opinion

We need a “bring back 2012” but for pvz. Also in my top ten games

pvz 2 had some legitimately fun mechanics, they’re just overshadowed by pay-to-win and the annoying stuff. i also loved the artsyle. i think that if you took the first game in its entirety, added all the good parts of pvz 2, and then went from there, you could honesty make a game rivaling any others in its genre.

I lost it when you rated the art style 6/10. As someone who studied art, the cartoonish art style is amazing. The colour palette, the vibrancy of the colours, the perfect linework that pv2 lacks, the animations.... It's all amazing and designed to convey information to the viewer. It reminds me of people saying Animal Crossing didn't have good art because they're used to hyper realistic 3d art 😭 It should have been 9/10 or 8/10 for the art

I can agree the first game was so well done! I just wish EA would release PVZ 2 on PC and not make it a mobile exclusive for so long. Never the less I enjoyed the video keep it up milk man!

PvZ definitely has one of the best (if not the best) OSTs in any game. I am so nostalgic for every groovy, over-compressed, track. Honestly I think there is no game with a better, and more consistent soundtrack. I’ve always liked the gameplay, but in my opinion the music is the best part.

My favorite part of PvZ is the entire mood and setting The music, character designs and how it's presented makes the game feel both really dreary and joyful The zombies, while they have some wacky moments (Like the credits) in the end they still want your brains, they ride dolphins, pole vault, bring out ladders and have giant chase after you not because it's funny, it's because they're monsters who try to eat you and they'll do anything to achieve their goals of eating your brains by any means necessary which is why it gives off a sense of dread from an otherwise cartoony game. but it's contrasted by the plant side which have very cute designs like a scared mushroom or a really mad torchwood and have very satisfying sound effects which gives off a very safe and happy vibe. The music also gives off both the mood of the zombies and the plants alongside the soundeffects with my favorite track being "Ultimate Battle" which perfectly illustrates my idea

This game is fun until you realize that 2 sunflower rows is the correct strategy for every single level. sunshrooms are a perfectly valid alternative too that speed up the early game on the night levels. pot levels encourage the twin sunflower instead of two rows to save room for firepower as well

the ending brings me back memories when my friend beated pvz on Xbox one and proceeded to scream the lyrics of there's a zombie on your lawn. one of the funniest shits we've ever done in a Xbox party.

I would say it as my second favorite, my first being The Saboteur (extremely underrated game and Pandemic Studios swan song 😢 If you are wondering what happened, EA happened.)

Lemme tell ya, the game might not be as perfect as you hoped it was but your Zombies on your Lawn cover is undisputably perfect

What I really loved about Plants vs Zombies was the designs for everyone literally no plant or zombie looks the same and the variety always made the game interesting to play

Honestly, if I had to recommend a game it would be Outer Wilds. Sadly it would get a zero in replayability but it has by far become one of my favorite games.

there's a hidden depth behind crazy dave's character there are no other humans left, crazy dave is the only lone survivor in the entire zombie apocalypse, which is the whole reason he went crazy in the first place. therefore, since pvz3 has more humans, crazy dave just removes the crazy and becomes just dave.

We're all nostalgic about pvz but damn I never seen anyone feel so strongly about it as you. But I can see just how genuine it is. We all have that one game with a special place in our hearts tho even if it's not quite there when measured strictly logically. From one guy to another, my personal perfect game is Copy Kitty. Just this wonderful mix of Megaman and kirby on steroids that I can never get enough of. I've put slightly more hours into it than hollow knight, and this was a far more linear game with less downtime. Not everyone may be into how hyper it is at times or the odd bit of story that's hardly even a story at all but I love it all the same. It's amazing what a project that started out as a couple teens mucking about with an engine can turn into after 7 years of early access, and I only found it after it was done.

Plants vs. Zombies I think is one of those iconic classics. It really does suck the franchise went downhill after PopCap got bought by EA but goodpea2 is pretty much remaking all of Plants vs. Zombies 2 to make that game better which is pretty cool. In terms of games that I recommend I would say try DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal. I would say DOOM Eternal is a lot better than DOOM 2016 but I think they are both still good games.

I have been playing pvz ever since it came out in 2009, and I have the same burning passion for it as you do 🔥 the music is AMAZING. Directed by Laura Shigihara, if you just take the time to listen to it by yourself you can learn to appreciate the amazing ness of it :) one small small criticism about the video though- it’s not a mobile game 😭 it originally came out on pc, but then released to mobile later on. I would assume it’s after the franchise has been sold to EA

I personally like the visuals of the first game a LOT! In fact I feel the less exagerated, more detailed designs of the plants make them feel more "realistic" in a way. They feel more natural where as PvZ 2 they feel all a lot more cartoony and fake. But also great video Mr. Milk Man.

I think you have to cover the portal series. Right when I finished the games, I fell in love with them and knew they will take place 1+2 of my favorite video games! But its hard to say which one is better, I personally think Portal 2 is a bit better because it stays nearly flawless for over 10h of story, but Portal 1 is short, but feels flawless. I would love to see how you would rank them. Portal 1 and 2 were one of the first AAA games I played and 4 years and nearly 100 games later they are still on top. The only games that even come close IMO are Half life 2 (+episodes), life is strange 1 and Borderlands 2.

PVZ 1 is the best game in the series hands down, and I say that as someone who beat PVZ 2 without leveling up my Plants.

I love this game, but I think it could deserve a 9/10, and I really loved it.

I know this sounds dumb as shit, but the secret ending made me tear up a little, you guys don't know how much this game means to me and a lot of other people. I remember playing this game with my mom back when it came out, and we played the shit out of it, I used to pretend to be some of the plants when I wasn't playing the game, I'd use to watch RU-vid videos about it all the time, and I'd just have the best time ever. I'm not joking when I say I'll kill to go back to those days, I miss them so much. My mother just gave birth to my baby sister, and now that I'm a grown man, I want her to experience the same things that I did and possibly have the best childhood ever that she can look back upon and smile. My baby sister and my mother have the same birthday, so I was thinking of buying them PvZ on their laptop for my sister's 3rd birthday. Like I said, this game means a lot to me and I want others to experience the same thing. (Also, Crazy Dave should have gotten his own chapter)

My dad is addicted to pvz2,he's been for like 3 years now I used to play pvz2 alot and he asked "can I play" cuz he's one of those dads After he played it on my phone he got addicted and now he plays it every time I see him

I love the original PvZ so very much. It's a shame what its sequel turned out to be because honestly there's elements of the sequel that work perfectly, such as the time travel theme which gives a perfect excuse to travel to crazy new places and fits the game's wacky aesthetic. But then there's things that just ruin the game like the microtransactions, the hard levels that are more up to luck than strategy, the terrible gimmicks, and the failure to mix things up as much as the first game did. The problem with the gimmicks of PvZ2 is that most of them are about giving the player something new rather than taking something away, and even when they do take something away it's not all that big of a deal. What I mean by that is that in PvZ original the night level got rid of natural sunlight which forces entirely different strategies, the pool limited your planting to some extent, the fog limited your vision, and the roof rendered many previous plants close to useless. In PvZ2 it's stuff like: A little bit of water you can't plant on. A few minecarts you can move plants on. Spaces that give plant food to multiple plants (this one's gotta be the worst gimmick). These gimmicks don't make you rethink your strategies, all they do is give you slightly more options or just slightly change the game. You're given slightly more options with new plants already, shouldn't these gimmicks be taking something away from you rather than giving you something? There may be a few worlds with gimmicks that change the game up a lot, but those worlds are far and in-between and still manage to fall flat in some areas. Sorry for the long comment it's just that I'm still really angry about how PvZ2 turned out, especially since the original PvZ showed so much more unfulfilled potential and PvZ2 may look like it fulfills that potential with new plants, new areas, and new zombies. But on closer inspection it falls flat and gets boring fast. I will always be mad about how PvZ2 turned out.

Well- someone probably said this in the comments already BUT the person who sung as the sunflower in "Zombie on your Lawn" also sung "Don't Forget" on Deltarune, seeing as you mentioned Undertale and Deltarune in the music section I find that pretty dope :) Laura Shigihara's music is sooooo good!

What does it for me is the *soundtrack*. The music in the game is amazing, and that is why I love it so much. “Watery Graves” is a banger. “Graze the Roof” always gets me bopping like a Sunflower. The game is so much fun already, but the music pulls it all together, and I doubt PvZ would be where it is without the absolute slappers it provides.
