Haha Yes, Wave Race for Gameboy is very different from the later versions. 😄 It's a hard game to describe, like, it's seems soooo basic on the surface, but it has just enough depth to the gameplay that I had so many hours put into this game when I was a kid! I don't know if I'd recommend it as a "must play" game, but every time I turn it on I have a hard time putting it down! FYI I remember there's some way to just practice without worrying about the race or time limits. I used to have fun just cruising around the ocean on my jetski. 😊

In regards to confusing nomenclature, one of my biggest pet peeves is when a developer only describes their game based on another game. Like, "I'm working on a Dark Souls demake, " and I've never played or seen Dark Souls. I'll search and search their web pages, README files, and notes trying to find ANY info about what their game actually is but it's only ever compared to another game. It drives me bonkers! 😤

Yes!!! This drives me nuts. Even the term metroidvania, it assumes you know like twenty layers of context 😂 I'm like, just tell me what the game is like please?

"Mega Man Legacy Collection..." Good news, the six games on that cartridge are some of the best, highest quality action games of the late 80s and early 90s! Mega Man 1 is a little clunky but good for the time. Mega Man 2 is on the Wikipedia's "List of video games considered the best". Mega Man 3 through 6 become even more refined as the series goes on. The bad news is they can be quite challenging, with maybe Mega Man 6 being the easiest in the series? But there's no need to play them in any specific order, and you can select any stage to play as soon as you start the games. 🙂 I almost forgot, if you get to a section in the game that seems absurdly hard, there's usually a trick to getting through it a much easier way, but you may have to come back to that stage at a later time. 😉
