Where in the world do you keep finding all these treasures from the past?!?!?! It's just amazing. Your dedication to your RU-vid channel - and us viewers - is so very much appreciated.
Whole lotta black and white in this one Fred, like most of my childhood memories! 👍 That Cowboys in Africa must not have lasted long, this is the first time I've ever heard of it! Keep up the good work, Fred. 👍👍👍
That was wonderful, thanks Fred! So glad to see the Lost In Space tv spot! I was 5 years old when Lost In Space was Released, and I never missed an episode! I remember Christmas gifts of the Lost In Space Roto-Jet Gun and a complete miniature Jupiter Two complete with small figures of the entire cast, even the Robot! It had the Chariot that ran off of batteries. What a great Christmas year that was for a little kid. Thanks for resurrecting some of those memories!
Geez, I wish! My Mom was pretty conscientious about disposing of “junk” around the house, and the Jupiter 2 was thrown out within a few years. The Laser Rifle, however , was a staple in my toy gun rotation lol. It was pretty cool because it looked exactly like the laser guns on the tv show!
Thanks Fred for the look back. 6:38 Joanie Sommers singing for Pepsi . She also sang on the follow up campaign "You're in the Pepsi Generation" 🎶 And in the early 80's for Diet Pepsi " Now you see it, Now you dont"🎶
Some familiar voices on those ads, like Gary Owens for Cowboy in Africa and Joanie Sommers for Pepsi, plus the ubiquitous Paul Frees does the voiceover in the Peanuts Ford Falcon ad. Also a lot of familiar faces like Jack Webb, Peter Falk and Darren McGavin too. Pinto Colvig as Goofy and Dick Tufeld as the announcer in the Soaky commercial. You always seem to include things I've never heard of or seen, and this time it's Coronado 9 with Rod Cameron and Shotgun Slade with Scott Brady. Thanks Fred!
Mick Jagger singing for Rice Krispies... Wonder if he gets any royalties from that today? Wow, most of this stuff, except for Lost in Space, I have never seen before. Those Soaky toys seem to strike a bit of a memory chord in my mind. If we didn't have those we had something like them when I was was quite young. Thanks Fred!
Great look back, Fred. Had no idea the Stones did a Rice Krispies jingle. I remember how excited I was to see Lost in Space upon seeing the fall previews. It doesn't hold up at all, either scientifically or dramatically. Love the nostalgic feel of the other clips.
I really love all those gems. I grew up in the 50s and 60s and never have seen most of those short lived programs. I especially liked the Seattle fair ad l could tell it was done by the people that did the Colonel Bleep cartoons. Reality transported me back to the past. Thank you!
Another great compilation Fred. Don't think I caught the episode of "Wagon Train' which had Barbra Stanwyck chasing away a crowd of guys with a bullwhip.
I did see Mondo Cane the year before with both my parents, one of the rare occasions we went to the movies together (except to the Drive-In). The one at 9:00 I didn't. 🙈 Really interesting collage, Fred. 💜🤟
interesting that the Thanksgiving parade was covered by correspondents in Toronto since the Canadian Thanksgiving is on the second Monday in October. Also growing up in Vancouver I remember the ad on local stations for the Seattle World's Fair and how exciting it looked. Thanks Fred,
I love your responses as much as your videos Fred! No story this time although your response sparked one last time so I'm trying to be not so long winded this time! LoL! For your sake of course!😊
Nice job again, Fred! 6:38 - It seems that the Pepsi jingle is based on "Makin' Whoopee", but I'm not sure. 8:10 - "Larry Tate" probably had a better time in Salem than Hotel del Coronado. :) 9:28 - Goofy & Pluto nicely show the difference between "anthropomorphic" and "non-anthropomorphic" dogs here.
Hey Fred! Thanks once again! Was that Barbra Stanwyck I saw on Wagon Train cracking the whip? And the aliens visiting the World’s Fair sure reminded me of Colonel Bleep!
@@LRogersPhoto I have uploaded a private video for you. It will be posted for three days. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-449FFmED1W4.html
10:27 So out curiosity I looked up how much the Soaky Goofy and Pluto are going for and apparently you can snag one for around ten bucks American. I guess there were so many sold and they used a quality plastic they aren't rare at all. I pity the guy that had to write the script. Talking about "Pluto the Pup" and "Goofy" (the whatever).
Your comment about Goofy reminded me of that comment by Wil Wheaton in Stand By Me: "...Mickey is a mouse, Donald is a duck and Pluto is a dog...but what the hell is Goofy?" A question for the ages I suppose.
@@ernestcruz6316 I figured this would be beyond Wil Wheaton's grasp (I'm not a fan). Anyway, *Goofy* is an anthropomorphic or humanoid dog. He wears clothes, can talk, and walks on two legs and has hands but he co-exists in a fictional world where *Pluto* exists as a dog. You see, no one ever mentions that *Mickey Mouse's* long time nemesis *Black Pete* is a humanoid cat and he co-exists with *Minnie Mouse's* cat *Figaro.* Same thing with horses. In the short _El Gaucho Goofy_ we find cowboy *Goofy* riding on horses that co-exist with the humanoid horse, *Horace Horse Collar* who wears clothes, talks and has hands (and so on). Simple really. The problem is that it can't be answered while standing on one foot.
And to think, even to this day they still have the original Lost in space episodes by the proverbial balls because they are milking every last buck possible from it. Completely disgusting and pathetic
