I can't believe someone would do that to your beautiful place. So rude and very disrespectful! Our rule to our kids has always been that we leave it as neat and tidy as when we first walked through the door

I raised my children to always “leave behind a testimony” wherever we went. We leave the place tidy and easily cleaned by the housekeepers. It is a reflection of the person!

The cleaning fees on some of the places I've looked at are absolutely ridiculous, so I can see where you would say "that's what the cleaning fee is for" when I use air bnb now I've been renting exclusively from those who charge a base rate (no cleaning fee) and I leave it just as clean if not cleaner than I found it... maybe consider lowering your cleaning fee

Air bnb should allow owners to charge additional professional cleaning fees to users as long as photo evidence is shown or provided by the owner that meets a certain messy threshold.

I cannot believe people would leave your home in such a state! Wow! My family is Japanese so seeing a mess like that litterally gives me anxiety. Id be soooo frustrated and, like you, feel disrespected. Just wow! I wish you could rate your guests like they can rate your home.

Make the cleaning deposit bigger! Maybe they'll think twice about being too lazy to keep property picked up and clean. Post notes through out property reminding guests that any sloppy behavior to property will be reprimanded with not getting your deposit back. I've stayed at places before that stated in the contract that all Garbage, trash will be removed and put in dumpster, towels etc are to be put in tub, dishes should be put in dishwasher and washed etc. If these things aren't taken care when you check out, your deposit will not be returned. PERIOD!

How much of a cleaning fee did they have to pay as part of the rental? Many people seem to use the cleaning fee as another profit-generating fee as the airlines do.

are you the innkeeper of these air bnb rooms? i.e. do you lease the property and run a hotel business? do you own the property? are you the manager or the cleaner? I am interested to see videos about the economics and commitment/work involved in leasing/owning and renting out rooms on air bnb.

We always leave our Airbnb cleaner than we find it. We even take off the sheets and put them in the laundry basket. What I’ve found is the host don’t clean very well despite the cleaning fee. Frankly I’m tired of Airbnb and lazy host that I’ve encountered. I have not ran into a good host yet….okay but not good for the cost. Next vacation I’m going with a hotel. I’m not sure the cleaning fee includes dishes. We always wash the dishes and take out the trash. Idk I don’t even leave dishes overnight at home so I can’t imagine doing that on vacation.

Hey J that sucks! Some people have no class. Where do you have places on Kauai? We have used Airbnb for Lake Tahoe and Big Bear both in California and we made sure to leave the place clean.

WOW those guests were trashy! So many questions: How did they eat that much junk food in one night? Why did they leave rolls of toilet paper around the house, didn't they get napkins with all that take out food? Did you at least give them a negative review? Can you keep some of their security deposit for extra cleaning hours?

Not to mention when you leave a place that trashed, how can you even tell if you packed up all your own stuff. I have to wonder why the heck they needed the toilet paper in the dining room. Anyone who thinks a service job is easy has clearly never worked a service job.

Those people are nasty. I have cleaners come to my house and I want them to focus on actually cleaning, so I can do my own dishes and clear everything before they come. It's not the same as having a regular housekeeper.

I understand you can give them a bad rating as a renter... But my question has always been can they give you a one star retaliatory rating to just be nasty and mean.... That always seems to happen in other rating settings... People are so petty and nasty these days.

WOW...even when i stay at an inexpensive motel i leave the place immaculate when i leave. People are just gross.

I think people do this because Kauai Airbnb are so expensive and the cleanout charges are also very high. A one night Airbnb doesn't make sense. Typical Airbnb in a VDA area in Kauai is more than $350 a night. You are in a VDA area right? Typical cleanout is $79 to $145. With the 14 percent occupancy tax, these guys are paying over $450 for that room. They probably think that it is all profit considering mortgage, hoa, power, and insurance for that place is about $130 a day. That is why most Airbnb do not rent for one day only. So there probably is a premium being charged to make the rate even higher formthis case. The renter probably thought the cleanout fee had to be earned for the one night. Not saying it is ok. I rent out a place on kauai, and people break things, throw things away, and take things all the time. It's the cost of the business. To put a video out complaining that you have to work, is odd. Pay to have cleaners do it, then, there are cleaners all around the island looking for the work.. Have Parrish or Kauai vacation rental hook you up.
