gotta be some nasty water they walkin around in.

Maybe cutting down trees and replacing soil and grasslands with cement isn’t such a good idea anymore.

I feel sorry for those who live in basements..

Driving into water is not a good idea because it can damage your car's engine if water gets into the exhaust system and causes problems.

Well, this is interesting. A couple of weeks ago , I read an article where the mayor of New York said an increase in migration would “destroy” the city. That's when God laughed. We never know when situations like this strike. We are "all" going to need the help and the assistance of others. We will have no choice but to work together.

Lol I feel the pain. This happened in Fort Lauderdale not so long ago.

Lived in NYC for two decades. Even through superstorm sandy. Never ever saw something like this. I cannot even imagine.

Thank you for your prayers, we're OK, as soon as we got off the bus they gave us room in Roosevelt hotel with room service . The food is great and we can't wait till our free doctor visit. It took us only a week and a half to get here , and I want a doctor to check my 3 kids after that horrible plane flight and a bus ride. Thank you all for supporting us and inviting us here to new York, that Alexandria ocrazio cortex is great 👍

It was coming down all night. Why people thought they could get out and drive around is beyond me. This was not "just another day in nyc"! If drains werent so clogged the waters wouldve receded faster!

I remember someone telling me about living on a hill in a dense neighborhood and when it rained alot the rats would run to the top of the hill. I hate to think where the rats ran to escape the flooding 😅

I guess by now others have looked at the Weather and are seeing that the storm that was out on the Atlantic which is huge, is circling Back around, coming in AGAIN. It's just unbelievable. I took shots of it and it's just Unimaginable that this is coming into the East coast NOW. My heart breaks were New Yorkers as I was born in New York on LI. I live in Northeast Pennsylvania now so we're affected by as well, by this terrible weather.

I have never seen so many car's driving through flood water's. Take it from a Floridian, stay inside if you can and don't drive. It is just common sense.

I think subway is the worst mean of tranaportation you could use in this situation

After heavy rains, a clogged culvert drain was completely covered in mud. See how we excavated to reveal and unclog the drain just in time before flooding occurred

For the bus to be flooded it must’ve been intense. Those are pretty high up.

With a flood like this the sewer systems are mixing with the water and people are walking through it. Couldn't that cause a disease outbreak? Think about it people.

Not sure why anyone thinks its ok to drive thru flooded streets, I guess if your not smart enough to know your being ripped off with the cost of living in a shoebox, you wouldn’t be smart enough to know you shouldn’t be driving in the flooded streets.

Are fossil burning emissions, specially sulphur, increasing the likelihood of local floods? When the atmosphere has warmed by 1,5C (monthly), then the atmosphere has around 10% more water vapour in it. If you add sulphur and other concentration chemicals to the mix, then they will draw more droplets and make clouds and more likely rains to the area nearby. With added humidity that happens faster than before, because there is more chances to create droplets. With average lifetime of the concentration particles this means they will bond together in mere days. If you draw a map near current floods, then you find out that most of them are located nearby areas that have high emission loads. Here's few of those events: Pakistan - near India and China emissions. Mediterranean - near EU, Gulf and other emissions. USA - has its own emissions. Brazil - has its own emissions. China - has its own emissions, plus India and whole Asian region emissions Of course, these areas has also other normal weather conditions that drives the floods, but these added concentration particles may worsen the situation. Also many areas have gone through the cycle: Heatwaves, droughts, possible wildfires and then extreme rains with flash flooding. In many cases these extreme rains have been caused by hurricanes or tropical storms. Also droughts may add some particles (sand etc.) to the air adding more droplets and cause more severe rains. If my guess is right, then this means we have to shutdown the fossil burning to lessen the flood risks.
