What!?!? Wow. When was the last time you saw an audience give a standing ovation after a pas de deux?? Not after the Coda, after the pas??? Before the variations even started?? Incredible. Every time I watch these two I have to pick my jaw up off the floor, over and over again. Her balances are truly awe inspiring, and it's about time someone brought virtuoso balances back!! Brava! Reminds me of Cynthia Gregory's legendary balances back in the late '70s and early '80s. In fact, so few ballerinas have made them a priority in the interim! Osiel's jump is amazing, yes, but how many dancers have you seen take pirouettes and not just go for quantity, but make each a truly unique artistic expression, even maintaining and reinforcing his characterization? I always thought that turning was an interruption of character for technique's sake, but for Osiel they become a playground for artistic expression way above and beyond their already insane technical considerations. Bravo!!
Today is 2021 and I still keep watching this since 2016. The best Don Q. So much fun , so much joy and positive energies from this. Thank you for uploading !
Wow, just wow. Grace, control, artistry. Impeccable technique in the service of artistic integrity. And those endless balances!! They made me scream and cheer.
The Ballerina, La Cubana is fantastic. Among a bunch of great ballerinas, she is in the highest areopag. In artistic performances it is impossible to pick the best artist.
Viengsay Valdes is a great, talented ballerina. Viengsay Valdes can balance. If he did this with more good taste and culture, if he did not force the music, then the production would not have the atmosphere of a "cheap circus act".
Actually, yes it is about the spins and jumps and balances........but they do it WAYYYY better musically than 99% of the Russians. And com'on, DQ IS about the S and J and B's. Let's not kid ourselves here. For my money, if that's what you came to see - haven't seen any better in the last year.
