Welcome to a Vienna walking tour, Austria.
Vienna is the capital city of Austria that never fails to captivate visitors with its rich history, majestic architecture, and vibrant cultural scene.
Vienna walking tour starts at St. Stephen's Cathedral, the crown jewel of Vienna's architectural heritage and one of Europe's most iconic cathedrals. I enter the cathedral so you can see it from the inside as well.
Then I head south along Graben, a historic shopping street known for its beautiful buildings and lively atmosphere. On this street I find the Plague Column (Pestsäule), a dramatic sculpture that commemorates the end of the plague in Vienna. Also St. Peter's Catholic Church (Peterskirche) is located near by.
Then I make my way to Michaelerplatz passing by on my way Josefsplatz and Stallburg. I stroll through Michaelerplatz and walk Heldenplatz and the Hofburg Gate. On my left you can see the Hofburg Palace, the former imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty.
I continue my walking tour to Maria-Theresien-Platz, a historic square located in the heart of Vienna. It is flanked by two grand architectural marvels: the Natural History Museum (Naturhistorisches Museum) and the Art History Museum (Kunsthistorisches Museum), both of which were built in the late 19th century and face each other across the square. The center of Maria-Theresien-Platz features a large statue of Empress Maria Theresa on horseback, paying tribute to her reign.
From here I head to the Burggarten, a lovely park with the Mozart Monument and a view of the Hofburg.
Finally, I walk towards the Albertina Museum, pass Albertinaplatz and finish my journey at the Vienna State Opera, one of the world's leading opera houses. It's an architectural masterpiece.
