This is undoubtedly the BEST boiler and boiler brand currently available, the efficiency level of this appliance is something else! Don’t be put off by any plastic components inside they are very durable and I reckon no one has changed any plastic components due to leaking, as I dismantled a viessmann boiler sometime ago and had trouble sawing through a hydro block!

I only have two language settings.......Good and Bad 😊 It does look a very competent machine. I'd expect nothing less from Viessmann👍

Looks good inside, got plenty of room for access, the newer boilers on the market are going for more advanced control units, not a bad thing, but installers need to make time to show customers the different options, they can be complicated to the untrained layman, but with energy efficiency and gas economy, it is important they are set up to run right. Viessmann have improved so much over the years, boilers are getting better and better.👍🏻

Always been a fan of Viessmann boilers never a fan of the rubber hoses though. Most of the components are held together with a simple clip and sealed with an o-ring. I quite rate ATAG boilers too I've fit a few of the ic & ir range system and combi's and pound for pound I think they're up there with Viessmann. Fitting a ll header in today the flow on this systems carp. I think there are a still a few out there who don't know much about system design and what it entails. 🤭

Brandyn March Hi Allen, Thanks for the videos. We seem to install a few commercial 200’s here (western Canada) per year. So far happy with them. Only complaint is some of the programming, so versatile but also limited. DE inputs for example. Sometimes you just need a fixed water temp in certain applications. Maybe that is different on the new units. Awesome boilers over all. Won’t install anything else available to us. reliability and parts availability are critical when selecting a boiler (for me).

This boiler modulates down to 1.9kW - *impressive.* Have on outside weather compensation and Opentherm room stat, it may just sit there injecting 1.9kW silently.

Charming. They do not support their own equipment. It means using Viessmann's propriety version. I _believe_ they have a system boiler that modulated down to 1.6kW. Again, impressive.

I like them the touch screen is the best bit of them. I know the HE is bullet proof but the hoses I just don’t like ether. But it’s a personal choice. A lot of the systems they get installed on to in this country won’t get the best out of its modulating range I think for the money they are over priced tbh. But would fit one if asked. Stay safe Allen

Hi Allan, excellent video mate, love the boiler. You have certainly convinced me about this boiler , which I'm going to get replaced. I understand they offer a storage tank to cater for up to 3 showers ? Which I'm going to go for, plus replace all 12 radiators. Great video Allan much appreciated. Kind regards Danny uk.

A good addition to your already informative videos would be, in my opinion, to state what situation the boilers you review are suited to. So how many bathrooms etc could this boiler serve , how many showers could run at the same time etc.

Interesting video as usual.The only complaint I have about Viessmann boilers is that on some of them the iso valves leak from the spindle as soon as I look at them, including the cold water inlet. Otherwise they’re very good boilers - typically German.

Hello Allen, whilst the user interface is extremely good, the rest of the boiler looks very cheap when compared to an Intergas Xclusive combi boiler. I would be interested to hear how you compare the two. Admittedly the user interface on the Intergas is not as easy to use but that's made up for in the lack of a plate to plate heat exchanger, diverter valve and other associated moving parts. Also Intergas have 22mm pipes throughout the main heat exchanger and a 12mm pipe on the DHW. This ensures much better flow on both the heating and DHW. On top of the a 12 year warranty. And no rubber hoses or plastic fittings. In my opinion a much better boiler.

Having done a bit of research, including watching several of your videos, we've got a Viessmann being installed next week as a replacement for a chronically unreliable Ideal Isar, The budget and needs wouldn't stretch to a 200-W (we only have a 2-bedroom semi) so we're getting an 050-W on the installer's recommendation. It's not a model I'd come across (I assumed we'd end up with a 100 or a 111) but from what I've seen on your channel and elsewhere the engineering quality doesn't seem to vary much between the models. As with the 200 here my only real concern is the rubber hoses (I wish they'd gone all copper across the range like on the newer 100-series) but I guess that's what the 10 year warranty is for. In every other respect they're works of art compared with the chaos inside the old Ideal which -- and I'm showing my age here -- reminded me of one of the bombs Richard Harris has to defuse in "Juggernaut". Bunches of wires everywhere and stuff hidden behind other stuff. The comment from the community page amused me, about people not going for Viessmann because they've never heard of them. Well neither had I until I started researching! And it always pays to stay current: the last "common knowledge" information I had from a few years ago was that Worcester Bosch and Vaillant were still the top brands in the game, and my own experience with my Isar told me Ideal were rubbish. But now I see problems starting to emerge in older Worcester boilers, while Ideal seem to be having something of a renaissance with their Logic range (although not enough to convince me to give them another go). So thanks for posting this video. It feels very timely because, while this is not the Viessmann model we're actually getting, it adds to the confidence that we've made the right decision in going with this manufacturer.

KevReillyUK You won’t be going far wrong Kev I’ve installed about 20 to 25 viessmann 050’s to date now over the years. they’ve all been pretty good the best remarks I’ve had Have been from home owners in regards to the efficiency /operating quietness and quality look and feel to the boiler, Call out engineers on warranty also very helpful as well as the knowledgeable technical department So far so good in all respects ,rubber hoses have been fine on the older 100 series but have been troublesome on boilers installed to very dirty systems so make sure your system is clean
@edcooper2396
@edcooper2396 4 года назад
Ive just had a 050 installed, actually considered the 200 for a little while, but with the 050 it feels like you're getting really good value for money as so much of the internals are the same as at the more premium (100/200) boilers. Unless you've got a heating system in really bad shape I wouldn't worry about rubber hoses, it helps keep noise down anyway - think of all the rubber hoses in cars.... You understand a 111 is a very different beast?
@KevReillyUK
@KevReillyUK 4 года назад
@@SalimKhan-gk1fh Thanks. Our CH is in pretty good shape for a 15-year-old system despite having no filter. I knew from bleeding and one TRV replacement that the water wasn't visibly contaminated, and the engineer confirmed it with a quality test. The original inhibitor was still visible on the surface. It's still getting flushed and a SpiroTrap MB3 fitted so I'm reasonably confident there shouldn't be sufficient contaminants in there to mess up the hoses in the new boiler. (I'd have preferred the apparently more efficient TF1 Omega but the heating company said they'd seen a few leaks with those when they used to fit them, but none with the MB3. Given that they'll be maintaining this system, I'm happy to defer to them on that one. Ideally there shouldn't be much filterable crud in there anyway once it's been flushed and recommissioned, so efficiency differences in the filter may not be as important.)
@KevReillyUK
@KevReillyUK 4 года назад
@@edcooper2396 Thank you! Yes, the only reason I knew about the 111 was because it came up as one of the options on the Viessmann website when I slightly tweaked the parameters of the very broad "describe your home" interactive boiler picker. In fact that part of the site recommends the 100, 111 and 200 depending on which parameters I tweak, but not the 050 even if I "go low" on everything despite plenty of 050 info on the site if you look manually. Whether this is a deliberate attempt to upsell or just a lack of integration with the interactive guide is hard to say, but given that the installer actually DOWNsold me to a more appropriate boiler I'd guess it's the latter. I will admit to being quite taken by the idea of an internal cylinder when I first saw it. Years ago we had an open gravity-fed system with a DHW cylinder and header tank(s) which I was glad to see the back of (too much extra pipework and hardware to maintain, although the immersion was handy). So I knew we wanted another combi, and the notion of a sort of "mini-tank" that might provide at least a couple of shower's worth of warm water in the event of a morning ignition failure of the type that had plagued the current boiler was quite appealing. But a chat with the installer told me the 111 was overkill for our needs, and might not fit in our existing enclosure even if it wasn't. And thinking about it, basing a choice of new boiler on the failure pattern of the old one is kinda silly anyway!
@SalimKhan-gk1fh
@SalimKhan-gk1fh 4 года назад
KevReillyUK Yes your heating company has given you very good information! I would have advised you the same, the Spiro trap is indeed a far superior filter I personally do not fit the Omega filter anymore The hoses in the boiler are not an issue at all on a clean system, The smallest waterways are in the plate to plate heat exchanger ,which heats up the hot water , these are more prone to blocking than anywhere else on a dirty system, You will be very impressed with this boiler and it’s quietness and efficiency

Is the ideal boiler for houses that have gas from a tank: for any type of gas will be put in the tank the boiler will self-regulate its combustion for the new type of gas without the need for a technician to make other adjustments which will lead at lower operating costs. The 17: 1 modulation can ensure a constant temperature in the house. If you put a magnetic filter then deposits on the rubber hose will not be a problem, other than that the hose provides a higher flow of water than a rigid pipe :). Still i have a love and hate relationship with this brand of boilers from the past....

The modulation is getting so low it is possible to have UFH without an thermal store in the system - heating the UFH pipes directly. It will just modulate down to a nice low 1.9Kw. Nice. Saves a ton of money. At 14.3 litre/min, the combi and heat UFH is all you need if one bathroom.

Hi Allen. Thank you for your videos! I want to ask if when you do a service to a boiler which is in warranty you find a part that needs replacing is that part under warranty and you would change it on the boiler warranty or is something that the customer needs to pay for? Also, how do you calculate the size of the expansion vessel on a heating system? I have looked on google and couldn’t find anything related. Thank you

Hi Allen, when I turn on hot water for a shower, it will use the rest heat of the central heating system so I have hot water for one minute untill the boiler temperature drops down. The burner doesn't switch on while use domestic hot water. When I shut down the hot water, the burner will start again to heat up the central heating system to the temperature I put it and I the cycle restarts (one min hot water, decrease of boiler temperature untill the water is cold). Any idea what could be the issue? I don't have an error and all the settings for the hot water are correct. We don't have an external boiler for DHW, only this system for both central heating and DMW

I have an old Baxi conventional boiler that I'll shortly be replacing which has a thermostat control panel in my hallway and a timing control panel directly below the boiler. My question is if I buy this boiler will it make those two components redundant? and what happens to the wiring? Will this boiler utilise the redundant component's cabling? I know next to nothing about plumbing but I find it absolutely fascinating learning about it all :)

@@mattmackenzie1111 Weather compensation only might make sense if you run your heating 24/7, but I don't, the real value of the 200 as I see it is it can run up at 30kW and also modulate down below 2kW, to get value from that you need an Open Therm controller so the boiler isn'y cycling, the boiler is working hard when you're 10 degrees off set point but taking it easy when you're close to set-point. In my situation, every room has its own controller and thermo-valave on the rad, though the rooms only provide a binary call for heat, as such its not possible to integrate Open Therm with the existing controls. I have instead got weather compensation, which you can fit to the 050, its standard 10k NTC interface, think the Viessmann sensor is about £40.

Very hard question to answer, really depends what’s needed, I would expect companies to start from £3000

Personally I don’t like the tool free case idea. It’s great if you work on one brand of boiler all the time but most of us see every make and model under the sun. I personally could do without every appliance being like a Rubik’s cube to get into.

I do not like those rubber pipes. This is *not* a cheap boiler, for such a price I would expect copper pipes, not self destructing rubber.

Might be the best boiler on the market but the warranties for the 200 are pathetic 3 years for non viessman installer 5 years for vissmann installer 12 years for viessman installer who pay extra for the extra 7 year’s warranty What a con, if the the boilers is as good as its made out to be should come with longer warranties. In my opinion should be: 7 years non viess 12 years for viess installer And then the paid option on extra warranty should be charged per year Then this 200 would be a great boiler and great buy If baxi can offer 10 years out the box so could viessman and the others who only offer long warranties if their accredited istallers install them 😡

Vitodens 200 in my opinion is the worst boiler ever built. My boiler is from 2014 and since 2018 we have sporadic errors EE and the boiler shuts off. Uncountable services, even Viessmann service and still the error occurred. Now the recommendation I received was to replace a boiler from 2014 with a new one. I lost every bit of trust in Viessmann.
