One thing that really symbolises how proud the Vietnamese are of their towns and cities is the landscaping and maintenance of the public open spaces (parks etc) and streetscapes. Really impressive. Your right about the ghost town effect. Its quite prevalent in the central and South coastal regions. As I understand it, much of it is due to the development companies getting over ambitious and the lending banks get spooked and pull the pin so many developments remain unfinished - until other developers come along and finish them - with the banks approval - It's complex . . But, yes, looking to the future is the main driver. Yep those 'huts' are part of fishing villages. Nha Trang is very nice. Probably my favourite city in the country. Great holiday place. Lots to do and the standard of hotels is very good. Also, have the world's longest (I think) over water cable car out to Hon Tre Island Another excellent vid Ray. Thank you.

12.30mins ot the huts on th beach is the lobster farms lol, if you come in the morning , 10-11am you can buy cheap lobster at the Huong Bien floating restaurant , which is exactly where you were standing at. it is 700,000 VND / kg for ~1-2kg lobster.
