Vietnam Hidden Caves | Hua Ma Cave | Ba Be National Park | We paid 1 USD to enter | Nature's wonder
About this video:
Welcome to our latest journey to the remotest of the remotest North Vietnam!!
A welcomed change in weather to our journey from Hanoi to Ba Be Lake.
But first food! Our driver Kuang took our "eat local but clean" instructions very seriously and brought us to a nearby Pho shop. It was indeed a wonderful flavourful bowl of soupy goodness to fill our hungry tummies. After this, we started our 3 hour car ride into Ba Be Lake District. Winding mountain roads make this journey a challenging drive. The views do not disappoint, says Mayur, as both Om and myself knocked out on this journey. We break for a bit through a passing town just to stretch our legs and then continue on.
As we are nearing the village homestay where we will spend our next 2 nights, we realise that our homestay guide is away for a wedding in HaGiang and will be back late the next day. Which means we will spend the rest of the day doing nothing. So Mayur worked his magic and got in touch with the other homestay ppl he was chatting with and got us a place to stay and someone to take us around the lake the next day for a boat trip. We were thankful for finding something so quickly. It really is important to do some research and groudwork before embarking on any journey. This one is particularly difficult because not many people in this region can speak English.
Once we reach our homestay, we unload our bags and head off to explore a cave. We chose to ride a bicycle to the cave to explore the villages near it and see everything first-hand.
It's a fairly easy ride. The beauty of these mountains and the villages nestled within them. It's truly a sight from the postcards. We ride past many corn fields, and the orange colour of the corn is simply stunning.
We stop by a local village shop to buy some snacks and rest, then head on to find the cave.
This cave was a recommendation from our new guide to go visit.
It costs $1 USD to get a ticket to enter this cave. We don't expect to see much considering the cost of it. It's a steep climb to the entrance of the cave. There are proper stairs, but the railing is questionable.
We enter the cave, and "oh! Wow!". It was a light show spectacle! The formations and protrusions are all simply amusing. The Stalactites grow down from the cave ceiling, while stalagmites grow up from the cave floor. There were colour show corners to highlight some more amazing structures. We walked... and we walked.. and we walked in for all of 40 minutes for this beautiful hidden gem of a cave. The best part was we were the only ones inside.
After completing this walk, we returned to our bikes and cycled back to our homestay for dinner.

About us
--------------
We are Mayur, Gayatri and Om residing in sunny Singapore. Amongst us we have an Indian who grew up in India, a Singaporean ceylonese who spent decade of her life in Australia and lastly our son, a true born citizen of the mixes, half Indian, half ceylonese and very Singaporean.
Our videos mainly consist of mountain climbing trips, some solo journeys but mostly of our family of 3. We thrive with each others company on our road less travelled in our own unique style. We really love off the beaten kind of adventures, eating local food, meeting ethnic tribes, going back in time with some historical sites and simply getting lost. Being in corporate job for the daily survival, our dream here is to inspire people to explore this beautiful world and realise that there is more in life than just 9 to 5.
