Own a New Home and an Apartment. Both my Wife and I have family in America and my wife’s daughter lives nearby us with her family. No pressure here , easy to get around , can’t beat it.

Corrupt officials are well aware of this loophole, so corruption and financial fraud never truly disappear. They often set aside money in case they face court, willing to part with about half of it for an instant sentence reduction. Mrs. Truong My Lan is in a similar boat-she won't face execution. The court is keeping her in custody to squeeze more money out of her family and associates. The death penalty for her is more about impressing foreign investors, showing Vietnam's commitment to fighting corruption. Just the mention of the "death penalty" makes corrupt individuals jittery, leading them to pay up to lessen their punishment. In Vietnam, money holds sway even in life-and-death matters.

G’day Ken, What amazes me here in Australia besides my Vietnamese friends no one else has heard about this court case. I have directed so many friends to your channel for information. Unfortunately they are not the type to subscribe. But what is amazing no coverage in any Australian newspaper or news channel considering how large the bribe was. What is also amazing 3 to 4 weeks & the verdict is in, if it was Australia 3 to 4 years to get a verdict & the lawyers on $ 10,000 a day make a killing. Get down to village level and see the thieving going on there. Just look at who lives in the biggest houses, who drives the best cars and who's kids go to overseas schools and universities. Then look at their monthly incomes and ask them to explain how they do it.

Atty, the Justice system did the right thing, its the ethical standards that the Vietnamese Government implements, not death penalty, but imprisonment. THE FINANCIAL adjustments can be applied, reflected to the State, since it is TAXES, witheld, and that it can be PAID BACK to the State, according to the SUM of YEARS that they operate, is/are COMPLIANT, YET, any Amount that is to be RECOVERED should always be TREATED ACCORDINGLY and EXAMINED with TAXES, since they belong to the EMPLOYERS, EMPLOYEES affected by the Crime/offender(s) The Court can recover the money, since TAXES, INVESTMENTS are TAXES, that protects consumers, depositors, and the Private and Public sectors from UNREGISTERED MONEY, or FRAUD. It has to be attested/examined by the Judge, and the money supplies, since taxation is designed to prevent counterfeit, fraud money, fake goods, products or services, since it they are reported to the Public sectors, the way Private sectors reports its taxes, since it is TAXES that are clean and healthy money supply, and so as products, goods and services that are of the same QUALITY. Congratulations Vietnam for the initial ACTION of the justice system from the Government of Vietnam. It is to encourage healthy economies, Investors and Investments that is to regain the confidence of consumers back to its banking sector, financial administration system.

It is technical but most of her loans didn't meet regulation and were done in a long period of time. The people who saved their money in the bank didn't buy an investment product. 1-Death sentence is a bit severe, if she returns 27 billion she will get life, CAN SHE RETURN 27 billion?? 2-she will appeal her sentence, how likely is for death penalty to be carried out? 3- people usually serve a percentage of a sentence and due to good behavior a sentence can be reduced, so how much of a sentence a person usually serves in Vietnam?

The problem is, who is to say what is and is not fraud or corruption in a system that can arrest you for merely misplaced suspicion? This offers no security. It reminds me of China. I thought this government would have it right for Vietnam, but they don't. My interest in Vietnam just collapsed with this case.
