Just made this. Couple tips: I also added some toasted coriander, and cilantro stem/root for extra complexity of flavor. Use a tea bag or something for that, or boil the chicken a little while before adding them, so it's easier to skim without taking them out. Also, if you want a long, long simmer without ruining the meat on the chicken, take it out after an hour, remove the meat, and then put the carcass back in and then simmer as long as you like.
@@Rick-5728 Yeah I don't like to waste food, I ended up having the carcass while my family had the good meat lol. My family and I are in love with this dish. The broth is to die for! I think it would be perfect for winter time. That chilli hit will do the trick lol.
I'm trying some now. Have my chicken in the slow cooker. Just had a deal on a lot of legs st st shop! Haven't got all the ingredients but hey it will be OK. I wanted to find the Tom yum stock cubes but can't get them anywhere and didn't want a massive jar of paste
Hi Marion, you can try like a teaspoon of fennel seeds and coriander seeds and a few cloves. Thats the secret of Pho :) for a significant Vietnamese taste, I ll throw in one dried scallops that has been broiled a little bit. It wont disappoint you
i know Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me.
Just found your channel Marion. I've been watching your videos for 2 hours. Your voice and presentation is so soothing and detailed. Chicken looks great! Can't wait to make it.
I think I’d really like this better than the beef pho. I love how happy Marion looks when she eats her food-it makes me want to cook everything she makes! 😍
Lately this kind of soup is all I’ve been craving, I buy one at lease once ever 3 days but realised I need to just learn how to do it myself to save money! Thanks for this !!
I am going to try this recipe this week. I cannot believe how easy it is to make. Thank you for sharing, and I will continuously follow your channel for Asian cuisine.
I struggled with this. After an hour, I could not pick a single taste. I did add more salt, a bit more fish sauce and let it simmer low as i prepped the chicken. Separate it made no sense. But when plated and the lemon (i used lemon instead of lime) was squeezed in, it somehow had a flavor. Gentle flavor which i think is ok for the health. I havent ever had a real pho for comparison but this was an ok meal. Would I rave about it? Hmmm no. But I did enjoy it. Edit: A praise point though! My mom was food poisoned and this was the only thing she could keep down. So that is awesome because im in my 20's and seriously love my mom. So this wins in that section!
omg that looks so good i could imagine the taste in my mouth as i was watching this vid. I've never cooked a whole chicken before but guess i'll try that next time!
Try getting a rotisserie chicken from the supermarket if they are available in your area. The chicken is already cooked - so you can pull it off the bone. And you still have the chicken bones to make the broth.
Thanks Marion for the easy recipe steps . Chicken pho soup is one of our favourite and I will certainly try it with the exception of adding chillies to make it spicy. You sound very pleasant and polite.
I'm not a chef, but if you go to an Asian supermarket... Buy yourself a whole chicken with heads and feets still attached, it's more flavorful and less greasy. One last suggestion, place the cooked chicken on a bowl of ice to prevent it from overcooking and falling apart. You're welcome.
Hi Marion - I’m Vietnamese but I live far away from home so I follow your recipe for Pho Ga. i have to say it’s a success! Thank you for the step by step instructions. Also, hope you can show us how to debone a chicken next time.
Idk if you’ve ever tried pork pho but it’s essentially the same aromatic ingredients. The one major change you can do is crisp up some pork belly, cube/chop it, and throw it in after the fact for salty, crunchy goodness! You can also try it with pork rinds!
Love 💓 love the chicken pho 🍲 recipe. Made it this weekend and the kids enjoyed it so much. I can tell the difference between homemade chicken pho and going to a restaurant. More clear and tasty 😋 not too much salt. Thanks! 😊
I just made it with house chicken and it was amazing! Also unfortunately I didn’t have the ginger but I added garlic and still the broth turned out very delicious with that super cozy taste. I’d advise to put in less bean sprouts, I put too much and my soup tasted a bit too healthy 🤣 But I made lots of broth, so for my next bowl I’ll make it without the sprouts.
Just made this today. Better than restaurant pho! Instead of chicken, I used the spine of a turkey that I spatchcocked for the broth and it still came out amazing.
Hai Top Chef.. Recipe kamu bagus, dan istemewah tetapi bahan yg kamu miss out.. Tulang ayam 2.ekor ,Tulang babi Tua Jur rm 12 .gula batu 3 biji.. Bawang putih 12.biji potong harus tumis dengan minyak dan bubuh di atas kuey teow soup kamu.. Lebih wangi dan harum! Ok gd job..
Tadi goreng juey teow.. Kamu miss out minyak pork lard dan pard..kerang segar.. Kalau tidak kamu akan ambil Champuon di Penang Char kuey Teow.. Gd job.. U are tge BEST..!
I use a combination of beef and chicken to make pho. The beef gives the broth a deep rich flavor while the chicken adds sweetness. Also, add black cardamom pods. It gives the broth a smokey woodsy flavor.
Ann-marie Meurs my first burger look like i ran over it with a car or something, but the taste is good though, so i try again and it look better, then i try again and it looks like something from a restaurant
Be patient. Watch the training videos and read the directions. Start simple. Try getting the good broth with the vegetables and spices. Add some cooked chicken breast to the soup. and keep comparing what you are dong to the videos. Takes time for some of us. Here are a couple of other unique YT channels you might try - food wishes and happy wok.
Just made this with double the spices and herbs. Broth came out on the lighter side. How do I add pow to it without using MSG. Any advice from anyone… thank you.
Omygoodness this looks absolutely delicious and easy to make. I can probably make this in my dorm room and it won’t take hours to make unlike like beef pho.
Marion, you should wait for the water to boil before adding the chicken, you did opposite from us by adding chicken and than water. Always soak dry pho noodle first.
Just discovered your channel and I looooove it ! I'm starting to live alone and I wanted to cook some nice and easy meals and yours look so delicious I can't wait to try !!!
Hi! I personally do not want to add in the fish sauce. Is there any alternative? Or can I also not use it at all? Any suggestions will be great thank you!
Oooo gosh I'm loving your pho recipes. I usually have the star anise and cinammon stick in my pantry! So glad to see an approachable pho recipe without me having to invest in so many other extra spices :)
That's what I love about this channel. Marion tells you everything you need to make an authentic basic form of whatever it is and leaves out extras that aren't essential. If you really do need something hard to find outside Asia-galangal comes to mind-she tells you so and explains why.
Aw thank you so much! And did you know you can already get my cooking kits in New Zealand? :-) If you head to my store locator and type in your post code you can see what's available in your area :-)
I just ate a House Special yellow noodles with scant soup with beef and shrimp but was disappointed, I am expecting a bowl with plenty of soup but did not, however, the owner told me that at the time I came in, it wasn’t as busy yet, maybe true, but that doesn’t changed my impression, not coming back and try somewhere else...☹️☹️☹️🇺🇸🇵🇭
Nice recipe and video, seems to be very close to the real thing! Making it for my wife now. It's phó, as in phaa though 😁 more like a in path. My name starts with the ø you switched it out with. Written ơ in vietnamese. Sorry for nitpicking. Great video!
