Have recently come across this channel, it is very informative and useful. Could you possibly make a video on secure profinet communication between PLC and profinet devices with physical firewall in between. Also, if possible could you touch on the use of MQTT for profinet data transfer? TIA
Is there any reason for you looking into this? PROFINET being the field level protocol has to meet many requirements related to performance, real-time capabilities etc and you wouldn't really place a firewall between an IO Controller and an IO Device unless if maybe it was set to pass all the PROFINET frames as these are specific and different to normal IP communication. Use of MQTT for PN exchange is even less realistic again because PROFINET is a protocol of it's own and there's activity on lower network layers in addition to the application oriented layers. MQTT is just a protocol that sit's in the Application layer, usually using TCP. You can use MQTT to exchange data - that's ok, but not in a way PROFINET does. I would probably point you to the PROFINET foundation that has many good resources on PROFINET. Here's an example: us.profinet.com/profinet-network-geeks-want/
Can view of things fully replace a standard HMI solution, or is there any major drawbacks? Let's say i buy a random tablet with windows 10. Set up automatic start of chrome in kiosk mode on startup.
Total waste of time. Vot doesnt support more than 100 tags. S7 1500 is only used for big projects and yet this stupid idea doesnt allow more than 100 tags to be implemented in several pages. If i had only 100 tags i would have had bought a delta plc with lower price
It's not meant to replace a full blown HMI or SCADA really. If you need a simple visualisation that's the way to go. If you need a more complex one, just go for a HMI/SCADA/Runtime
