Viewer’s Fave: Little Banana, homely Goan food in Colva-Benaulim, South Goa

Little Banana is a 2-minute drive from Benaulim’s Maria Hall junction, past the Dando ground and just after the Sernabatim road. From Colva church,
Little Banana is a 5 minute drive along the Dabolim-Cavelossim road, via Colva Police Station, Borkar supermarket and the Chapel of Menin Jezu.
We have visited the 7-year-old Little Banana before. But we are back here today as vloggers, on the recommendation of our viewer Shiju Mathew.
There is no printed menu at Little Banana. The day’s menu is based on the fresh catch of the day. On the day we went, there was tarle (sardines), vellio (anchovies/silver fish), bombil (Bombay duck), kingfish (visvon) and, to Maria’s delight, lepo (sole fish), besides prawns and squids.
Francisco Fernandes runs Little Banana along with his wife and mother. Besides Goan fish specialities, the Fernandes’ family also makes authentic Goan pork, beef and chicken dishes, like sorpotel and asado, which we will show you later, on some evening.
Maria is having lepo thali (Rs 120), I am having the mixed fish thali (Rs 180), and Roma is having the special prawns thali (Rs 250).
Mixed fish thali items: fish curry, spinach bhaji, chonnem bhaji, teesrio, mackerel fish curry, banana in custard, sal kari, kismur, pickle, rice and this is lepo plus tarle, plus vellio, plus prawns.
Maria liked the bhaji and the crispy fried lepo fish. Roma liked everything, from the prawn to the banana in custard.
Little Banana is a great option for a cheap, tasty and filling meal in the Colva-Benaulim-Sernabatim stretch.
