I always loved it when he'd do those comedy skits that involved cutting together different pieces of video tape (like the Jack Palance thing at the end of this one) and then drawing attention to whatever anomaly in the video (in this case, the fact that the insert footage showed someone wearing a different colour suit).

I don't have the bell turned on to notify me... BUT the algorithm serves me these videos asap so I don't need to ;)

@@christophermiller3031 it just wasn't working for me. I'd see the videos a few hours after upload. But now I know on the button that there's some laughs to be had.

@@agfrench82 I have some channels that I'm subbed to that the algorithm never serves! I have no problem with your use of the notification system, just that... for once... it wasn't necessary for this channel. nonetheless, it's nice to know we will both be happily viewing this channels videos whenever they post... I'll be honest that at first I was afraid of RU-vid being taken over by late night shows.... but this Letterman channel is a great example of RU-vids platform allowing us to enjoy older content that the networks aren't airing. 🖖

Those Were The Days by Mary Hopkin. It was on the Apple Label (the one The Beatles started) and was unfortunately, a hit in 1968.

@@richieboy6825 I get some credit.for the record label and the year it was a hit song, but you did get there first with the right answer so you win. Good luck getting a prize. By the way, it never made it to #1 as it stopped at #2 because of, who else, but The Beatles. The roots of the song originally come from a Russian folk song called "Dear For Me." Now you're all set for trivia night. 🙂

Bill Shane thx man! I heard it periodically throughout my childhood and so, of course, I like hearing it once & awhile but I suppose if you strip the sentimentality away it’s probably a pretty bad song. Take care!

It's pronounced Kuhoes even though it's spelled Cohoes. It is near Glens Falls, New York but closer to Albany. It's good to hear a local viewer got a letter on your show.

1 it's pronounced "Ca-hoes". 2 it's not even close to gens falls. It's by Troy and Albany.

I don't think we realized the toll this took on Dave, doing this show four nights a week for 30 years. I think that's one reason he now chooses to look like Gabby Hayes.
