Past Dave: What, uhh, year in the future are you from, ma'am? Future Wife: Uhh, 2019. Past Dave: 2019? Well, nice to have you at the show. I hope you enjoy things. Future Wife: Oh, Mr, Letterman, we still are enjoying you on reruns.
Kind of funny that Leon took over Paul's old job on SNL and then temporarily took over Paul's job again. I'm surprised he didn't fill in more when Paul was away.
He did two more times; once before this show, on December 9, 1982 (Paul was on the west coast filming "Spinal Tap"), and once after, on October 4, 1983 (Paul was ill).
He was actually on three times: once as himself in '84, once in a Harry Shearer film on the first film festival in '85, and once as part of Spinal Tap in '92. Which gives me an idea: I'll put together all of the Spinal Tap band members -- Christopher, Harry, and Michael -- into one collection. Don't know when, though.
0:51 One of my favorite perks of these on youtube is being able to pause and read the un-highlighted parts of the letters. But I can't make out the last line of letter #1. Anybody got a clue?
