Nice shout out for Frozen Soul... Like an icier Bolt Thrower and just as awesome!.. Love the slow/mid paced style of Death Metal, it much more satisfying to me!
My top 5 most anticipated albums this year: 5. Cannibal Corpse 4. Dismember 3. Immolation 2. Carcass 1. Job For A Cowboy Along with Bodom After Midnight and Belphegor
I still had hope that Metallica would release worthy albums. Still Hoping that they would comeback to there Original sounds, intensity and Aggressiveness. I'm hoping that Lars Ulrich Would Practice A lot and not just sitting and getting lazy, and Good news James Voice is slowly coming back and I hope Kirk and Rob will have a contribution on song writing and not losing his phone. Even though they made a sell out albums, they're still Metallica.
I dunno. I've found the At The Gates reunion albums extremely underwhelming. I would be much more interested if Dismember came out with a new slab of metal. I was also disappointed with Sodom's XIX album from last year. The Bonded album, Rest In Violence, was one of the better albums I heard in 2020. I could go for a new Unanimated album too, if I'm making a wishlist. I wish I really liked a Crown album since Crowned In Terror, but I think that ship has sailed. I was a bit underwhelmed by Carcass' 2020 ep, but I loved Surgical Steel, so it would be cool to hear a new Carcass full lp.
Necrotic Nick- I liked At War with Reality but To Drink from the Night Itself wasn’t as good too be honest. I am still curious what this new one will sound like though. If Dismember actually does do another album I’m legit on board. I’m excited for most of what’s coming out this year especially Carcass. I loved the stuff on the EP and how it touched on a lot of older material.
Epica are not power metal! They're symphonic metal with gothic tendencies! I consider them to be goth metal, even though they're not classified as that. However, Nightwish are unfortunately classified as power metal and I'm embarrassed about it! I call them symphonic metal and goth metal as well. Both are some of the best bands with women of all time! Great bands! I saw Within Temptation when they toured with Iron Maiden! I thought it was fantastic! Another awesome band! These 3 bands are among my favorite metal bands of the 2000s and now. I also love A7X, Between the Buried and Me, Gojira, Soulfly, Trivium, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Every Time I Die, Dillenger Escape Plan, The Black Dahlia Murder, August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, and The Devil Wears Prada.
I'm not the biggest power metal fan, but I would say that Helloween is awesome. They're my number one power metal band. I don't have a problem with them. DragonForce, Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian, Avantasia, Riot, Manowar, Hammer Fall, Angra, Iron Savior, and Edguy are the only other bands that I would say are awesome! Had Gamma Ray and Iron Savior on there because Kai Hansen was in those bands when he was out of Helloween. However, that self titled album from 2021 was great! Top 20 album of the year! Between the Buried and Me and Cannibal were 2 and 3 of the year along with Gojira at 10. Iron Maiden at 6 and I didn't expect Rise Against to give us a banger of an album, but they did! Nowhere Generation was fantastic release in 2021. Endgame was great, The Black Market, while it's low for me was still really good. Wolves was very solid and then they released Nowhere Generation and it is fantastic! Somehow, they never released a single bad album! Fantastic band. Carcass's Torn Arteries kind of disappointed me, but it was solid. I love the comeback album Surgical Steel more. That album was fantastic! And Mastadon's Hushed and Grim kinda of dissapointed me as well. But that's just me! Other than that, great stuff was released in 2021! Evanescence did release an album in 2021 and I gotta say it's not that great. Big disappointment.
Good friends with David Ingram of Benediction/ ex Bolt Thrower so kudos on the shirt. Also, I'm the singer for Hecate Enthroned, hopefully we'll have a new album for you at some point
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Dave Ingram fucking rules. I've always loved that dudes vocals. I have some Hecate Enthroned in my collection and I remember it being badass so I'm looking forward to that.
No worries. Just want to say I found your channel fairly recently and been loving the videos. I particularly liked your review of the latest Six Feet Under album. That album was.... special, haha.
I’m a little late on this but all these albums are great. Overkill is now releasing one soon… scorched. Very exciting. I love violence unimagined so much. Kick ass album. Another great video from you guys! And sweet bolt thrower shirt Nick
Kinda Late, but I just wanna say that You guys should definitely check out Count Raven. Amazing Trad Doom Band From Sweden, with 5 Incredible albums. If you like 70s Black Sabbath, Combined with the Grand, elaborate sounds of their more, later work, you’ll dig this band.
Would love a new Hypocrisy. As far as Suffocation, its Kevin who sounded EXACTLY like Frank when Frank was 25 and I think that's who Frank made the comment about. That's a lot of Frank's lol I personally don't like the way Ricky sounds. Totally different. But they did release some snippets of new stuff a few months ago, and from the sound of it, it sounds like old school Suffo!
Megadeth, Exodus, Carcass, EyeHateGod, Nervosa, Crypta and Vektor are what I'm most excited for! Also Evanescence, hate if you must haha. Don't know if ya'll know, but Pat O' Brien actually guested on a track on that most recent Scour EP. Still fascinated as to what's going on with him myself. Great video as always guys \m/
Necrotic Nick- I had totally forgot he was on that Scour EP honestly. I just hope he straightens his life out out. He's been a great addition to Corpse and really contributes heavily to their sound over all.
Just for January alone - Frozen Soul, Therion, ASPHYX, Yoth Iria, Vulvodynia/Acrania split EP, & Steven Wilson, too many to mention for the rest of the year! Def new Carcass & At The Gates as well!
Necrotic Nick- It's pretty much a guarantee that we'll be covering Frozen Soul on the 8th and Asphyx when they drop their new album this month as well.
I’m incredibly excited for Every Time I Die, Carcass, Asphyx, Archspire. I loved the Zao, Portal, Panopticon, Darko , and Brand Of Sacrifice that came out
Unanimated for sure is on my list. They are 1 of the originators of Swedish black/death metal. They were a year before Dissection. Released 2 legendary albums in the 90's then broke up. Reformed in late 2000's and released another great album. Released a EP in 2018. Also waiting on new Sacramentum album, i cant wait. Dawn were supposedly working on something new awhile ago but who knows now. Then theres Lord Belial back together. Galder's Old Man's Child project is back. I wish he would focus on it more than Dimmu Borgir. He should go back to the Pagan Prosperity and Ill Natured Spiritual Invasion style. That 90's style was the best. 1 of my favorite bands Dismember are back. I sure hope they'll record something new in the future. Count Raven FINALLY working on new album. If you haven't heard them before then check out first 3 albums. Destruction of the Void is a Godly album. You'd think Ozzy was singing lol.
Necrotic Nick- Well, I apparently have overlooked this one and I feel bad because I love Dissection. I'd love to hear a new Sacramentum and I'm curious about a new Old Man's Child record just because I think Galder is a killer songwriter. I've kinda fallen out with Dimmu over the last couple of albums to be honest but I still listen to Old Man's Child a fair amount. I'd also love a new Dismember for sure. I can't get enough of that Swedish Death Metal sound overall. I'm not really familiar with Dawn or Count Raven but I'll definitely look into it.
@@thrallsofmetal Yeah you'll definitely like Dawn if you like Dissection. They are another legendary Swedish melodic black/death metal band. Their albums should be easy to get since they have been reissued by Century Media a few years ago. Their 3 demos have all been released together too. They were more of the old school Swedish death metal style early on and then started adding a mix of black metal by the time of their 1st album. The EP in 96 would be my favorite if it was a full length because i love the sound of the record. The 2nd and final full length is very melodic black metal. Extremely amazing stuff.
I've split my list into a couple of different sections: Albums that are confirmed with release date: Frozen Soul - Crypt of Ice (01/08/2021) Dread Sovereign - Alchemical Warfare (01/15/2021) Asphyx - Necroceros (01/22/2021) Altered Dead - Returned To Life (01/25/2021) Devotion - The Harrowing (01/25/2021) Yoth Iria - As The Flame Withers (01/25/2021) Tribulation - Where The Gloom Becomes Sound (01/29/2021) Demon Head - Viscera (01/29/2021) Pounder - Breaking The World (01/29/2021) Angelus Apatrida - Angelus Apatrida (02/05/2021) The Ruins of Beverast - The Thule Grimoires (02/05/2021) Suffering Hour - The Cyclic Reckoning (02/19/2021) Gravesend - Methods Of Human Disposal (02/19/2021) The Amenta - Revelator (02/19/2021) Forhist - I (02/26/2021) Nightfall - At Night We Prey (03/05/2021) Baest - Necro Sapiens (03/05/2021) Thron - Pilgrim (03/05/2021) Witherfall - Curse Of Autumn (03/05/2021) Enforced - Kill Grid (03/12/2021) Eyehategod - A History Of Nomadic Behavior (03/12/2021) Bewitcher - Cursed Be Thy Kingdom (04/16/2021) Bands that will 100% release new music in 2021, but have not made an announcement yet: Iron Maiden King Diamond At the Gates Carcass Night Demon Cannibal Corpse Obituary Obscura Artificial Brain Septicflesh Hate Sumerlands Wolves In The Throne Room Cerebral Rot Phrenelith Worm Sanguisugabogg Misery Index Crowbar Exodus Megadeth Municipal Waste Vreid Unanimated Withered Hooded Menace Borknagar Omnium Gatherum Insomnium Blind Guardian Kreator Vio-lence Sacred Reich Artillery Evile Razor Sacrifice Der Weg Einer Freiheit Wiegedood Bands that I hope release new music in 2021: Spectral Voice Cruciamentum Grave Miasma Grave Dead Congregation Dawn Sacramentum Triptykon Coroner Mercyful Fate Nekromantheon Ripper Sadistic Ritual Unto Others
@@mattymatt1475 I don't really have much faith in Kam Lee and co. to put out anything good, especially with the recent lineup drama. It's not something I'm particularly excited for. Rogga Johansson and Jonny Pettersson are also very hit and miss with all of their innumberable death metal projects, so it remains to be seen which side the upcoming album will fall on.
That's a lot of keyboarding! I would really need Night Demon to step it up and really come into their own if they put out a third album. I really wanna like them, but whenever I put on their first two albums, I get bored and just put on Maiden or Lightning To The Nations. Props to Jarvis for reigniting Cirith Ungol though; that was the comeback album of 2020. I would love to hear a new Sacramentum album. Sacramentum & Dismember are still playing festivals, but they haven't officially released anything new. I don't want them to follow the example of Nifelheim (by the way, please get in the studio Nifeltwins!)
@@bschuler6216 Nifelheim entered the studio back in April 2019, they posted about it on social media around that time. Blackosh (ex-Master's Hammer, ex-Root) is contributing as well as a full time guitarist. As far as Sacramentum is concerned, they already announced they'd be doing a new album last year when they reunited. Of course they just had a lineup change with Tobias Kellgren replacing Niclas Rudolffson on drums so there might be a bit of a delay in the writing process, but I'd imagine they'll be in the studio soon. As for Night Demon, I've enjoyed all of their output so far so I don't really need them to do anything special. As long as they continue on the path they're travelling, the new album should be right up my alley.
The CEO of Metal blade records actually said that Pat o Brien is not on the new Cannibal Corpse record. And he has confirmed that the new album will be released in 2021
Necrotic Nick- Carcass and Cannibal Corpse are all but guaranteed as far as reviews. I'm not much of a slam fan, but Vulvodynia maybe a possibility. I honestly haven't heard of Sun Eater though.
Necrotic Nick- No prob, man! It looks like they’re saying fall of 2021 may be when we see live shows again but we’ll see. Either way, I’m can’t wait for them to comeback.
Gorguts maybe (Luc write music now i know from interview) and my much anticipated album is Ad Nauseam - Imperative Imperceptible Impulse.(Release date: February 12th, 2021) last 2015 album was good. Its some stuff bands like Gorguts, Ulcerate
Necrotic Nick- I'd love for Gorguts to get back to the sound on Erosion of Sanity but I doubt that'll be the case. I like what they do now, but sometimes it goes a bit overboard in terms of all the technical play. Anything that sounds close to Ulcerate I'm pretty much down for.
@@thrallsofmetalToday maybe Luc Lemay and Gorguts is too much inspired by Opeth (i read interview about what inspired him) and other things that don't quite fit gorguts music. I have the same problem but with immolation, I would like them to go back to their sources or at least at the turn of the 90s and 2000s, just less mainstream music
It will be good to hear more about power metal. I guess you guys don't like it much. One of my favourite bands from that genre is Seven Kingdoms. They remind me of early Helloween and the singer is a lady.
Necrotic Nick- I’m definitely open to reviewing more power metal oriented stuff, I’m just not the best judge on it since I’m really not much of a fan outside of a few bands really.
Necrotic Nick- I'm still unsure about King Diamond/ Mercyful Fate since those projects seem like they keep getting tabled. Everything else seems like it's a go for 2021 though.
Hey I forgot to mention this much anticipated release k.k s priest can't freaking wait for this one to drop. I feel the priest screwed him but now we see what k k can do on his own. Ripper on vocals should be awesome can't go wrong with that or les binks on drums. Man I can't wait to hear that combo.
When it comes to Metallica, i will definitely listen to it when it comes out but not really anticipating much. Even though Hardwired had a couple songs i liked and was way better than there last 5.
Necrotic Nick- I stil hold out hope that they can release something worthy of their legacy again, but it's been kinda hit or miss for me lately. I loved some of the track on Hardwired like Spit out the Bone especially, but here was a lot of filler on it as well. I guess we'll see.
Oh damn, you guys need to check out some StarGazer (AUS). Sick band. I can't wait for Psychic Secretions to drop in the US. One other album I'm really looking forward to is the new Nunslaughter. First full length without Konya, but I'm sure it'll be nasty as always.
@@thrallsofmetal They're worth your time. Denny Blake and Damon Good are in many killer Aussie metal bands that you may have heard of, but I believe StarGazer is kinda their main band. Could be wrong. Crazy songwriting, and some really awesome bass playing. So ready to listen to the new one!
Man, if I was in your neighborhood, I'd totally be willing to be your power metal guy. I love the stuff. Unfortunately, I'm on the other side of the Rockies. I have thought about starting my own channel, but I'm not much of a video editing guy, so I mostly stick to writing stuff on a blog. I'm actually pretty excited for the new Helloween. They've been doing this thing where they've brought back their two other singers to sing with their current one for live shows for the past few years, and now they're going to have all three for the new album, so it's going to be a curious project, if nothing else.
Necrotic Nick- Well, if you do start a channel let us know. I was pretty intimidated by the whole editing process and I'm still learning but I started getting used to it and it's not as much of a daunting task as it was. I've never been a Helloween fan but that is an interesting dynamic have 3 singers on the same album. Lots of possible giant vocal harmonies different vocal dynamics alone. If we do get our power metal guy, I may still sit in as "outsider opinion" on it.
Necrotic Nick- I felt like it was a solid guess since he's been doing most of their production here as of late and he toured as a replacement for Pat not too long ago. I think he'll be a solid fit and I'm eager to hear the songs he wrote with them.
I'm really curious about the new Eyehategod one; there is something about it that's intriguing. As much as I'd love a new album from King Diamond, I think that it will be a while before that happens. I'd like to see where Moonspell goes with their next release, but I lost interest in Epica a long time ago. Of all the bands mentioned, I would love a new album from Hypocrisy! And, I would love to see them again! Now, about Type O Negative, isn't there a label that wants to put out a compilation album of cover songs by various bands, or am I confused... ? I might be thinking of another disbanded band. Hopefully you don't mind a friendly suggestion: I think that we (in music, but especially in metal and rock) really need to diverge from terms like "all-female band" and "girl band" because it makes women musicians look like "the other", and now there are many women in metal--for us to use dated and sexist terms like that. It's one thing if it's a beauty-and-the-beast type of band, but if it's a thrash/death metal band with a bassist, guitarist, drummer, and a screamer, then there isn't a need to highlight their gender. We'll see you in the next one! Keep the excellent content coming! 🤘🤘🤘
Necrotic Nick- It was kinda touch and go there for a bit with Mike 9's medical issues but I'm glad he's doing well again. I loved their last one so I have a feeling this could be good. I've never been much of a Moonspell or Epica fan, but I'm willing to check out their new releases. I'm super excited at the prospect of a new Hypocrisy album though. They're one of my favorite melodic death metal acts across the board. I hadn't heard about any posthumous Type O releases but I'll look into it. I really only brought up the "all female" aspect because it is a distinction that makes them stand out. I don't think it's a bad thing at all and it is a bit of a draw for the band but that's just my perspective and there are definitely still people that look down on them just for that reason which I don't agree. They're a killer band and I'm eager to hear Crypta as well since I'm a giant death metal nut. Thanks for the response, bro!
@@thrallsofmetal I agree that the Hypocrisy one will be an interesting release. It's about time! I wonder if this tribute compilation was for another band... Now I have to go on Google. It may have been an Iron Maiden one, now that I am thinking about it. That's exactly the point. There isn't a need for them to "stand out". There needs to be equality amongst all genders, not distinction. So, highlighting it like that doesn't help, trust me. I encourage you to think more about this topic, and to watch/read interviews of women bands talking about their negative experiences in the scene. Some had people stand by the stage to make sure that "they're playing their instruments"... (Since we don't say "all-men band", then "all-women" is unhelpful because it defeats the neutrality.) As for Moonspell, I wish they'd go back to their older sound, but I still like their heavier stuff. It's Septicflesh that wore off from me, unfortunately, along with Epica. Enjoy your weekend, all of you! Cheers! 🍻🍻🍻🍻
When I saw King Diamond in November of 2019, they played a new song, and King said that The Institute would be coming out in 2020. So I assume it will come out in 2021. Some amazing female-fronted bands, if you like a more 70's style of metal, are Ruby The Hatchet and Honeymoon Disease and Hot Breath. Maidavale is an amazing all female Swedish band. I do agree with the unnecessary labeling of gender in Metal, but, damn, I just did it myself. I'll go think about that some more.
Necrotic Nick- I forgot that Every Time I Die were working on something new. I really enjoyed Low Teens so I'd like to hear a continuation of that sound.
Necrotic Nick- I'm more excited for BTBAM just because I think their one of the best prog metal bands out there right now, but I'm really curious about the new Rob Zombie. John 5 is a killer guitarist and from what Rin said he's really taking the reigns on this one.
This is the funniest video you guys have ever done. I laughed my ass off beginning to end. A lot of new shit to look forward to this year. Looking forward to all your reviews this year keep up the good work fellas! 🤘💀🤘
Necrotic Nick- We're going to get down to the Suffocation ranking video this weekend and hopefully sometime this month we're going to put up a post for the album vs. album response video.
Necrotic Nick- Kreator is definitely on my radar but I wasn't aware Septicflesh was working on a new album to be honest. If so, they are definitely on the radar as well.
Necrotic Nick- Holy shit I would love a new Slugdge album. I have jammed all their albums so much. They became one of my favorite new bands when their last album dropped. If Matt Barlow is fronting Ashes of Ares I may have to check it out because I love that dude's vocals.
Yeah, if you guys haven't somehow checked Unanimated out yet, you should totally do it. They're one of the originators of the Swedish melodic black/death metal sound alongside Dissection, Sacramentum, Dawn, Vinterland, Necrophobic and Naglfar and their album Ancient God of Evil (on which Life Demise is a track) is an absolute classic.
l love Unanimated's debut from '93, In The Forest Of the Dreaming Dead. It is so different from most Melodic Death Metal. They are unique, and their debut is super atmospheric, icy and melancholic. A definite must in any Swedish Metal lover's collection.
I'm hoping Iced Earth returns with new CD this year but with Pandemic still happening with their current line-up having 2 international members vocalist Stu Block & bassist Luke Appleton.
Good stuff!! All you guys know your shit, but SHREDLORD has the best sense of humor! ALL HAIL SHREDLORD THE MIGHTY!! And you gotta review the new DUNGEON WOLF!! I think you guys are OHIO BOYZ like me so you owe me!! And you're lucky enough to be near Ann Arbor??? WHUT???? Party with JIM HARBAUGH??? GO BLUE!!!!!!!
Necrotic Nick- It potentially could be with all these bands taking the quarantine time to record. We might here some really inspired stuff from a lot of bands.
as the worlds biggest fan of power metal and black metal (what can i say they are my favorites) I am always curious why people hate on power metal because its quote cheesy? So i can only think its due to the fact in black metal you construct a kingdom of darkness and the damn power metalers always come riding in on their mighty steeds and destroy them . its hard to be I am the black wizards while also being a Warrior of faith (emperor vs hammerfall) . either way most metal is pretty much high fantasy (metal i like anyway lol)so it tends to be cheesey either way and i damn well love chesee. Anyway you guys rock all hail the wrath of the easter bunny.
Necrotic Nick- First off: that comparison is fucking brilliant. I love it. lol. Second: It's odd that I like a lot of Trad Metal but when it comes down to going full bore metal dungeons and dragons stuff, it just becomes too much camp for me. There are some bands like in power metal, but generally that have to have some darkness to them like Iced Earth.
Necrotic Nick- I wasn't even aware that Gizmachi was still a thing. I have their debut EP still and it's still pretty solid. I've only jammed a bit of Angelus Apatrida's earlier stuff so I'm not super familiar with them and I have one of Bloody Hammer's albums which I thought was pretty solid.
@@thrallsofmetal hell yeah Nick that last obituary was great I know this new album is gonna be killer. Obituary never disappoints so I'm counting down the days their my favorite deathmetal band have been since 1988s slowly we rot.
@@BBQcheese considering the band members that left left due to his physical abuse of his wife, and given that that abuse was a result of his alcoholism, I would venture to say that he’s sober and not abusive anymore given that those members have returned.
Necrotic Nick- I'm down for a Vio-Lence review whenever they drop their new album. I wished they had teased more than a cover song last year, but I'm glad they're back at it.
Turns out Priest is a band, a synth pop group where the singer has a BDSM mask and a priest costume, could've been cool but disappointingly bland. Like a goth girl's bachelorette party.
Necrotic Nick- Eh, I like dark synth stuff or 80's synthwave but that doesn't sound too appealing. I think Shred has someone in mind for the more power metal-ish releases,
