I hate the stigma that metalheads can't enjoy other music outside of metal or metal adjecent genres. Tears for Fears is great, and i woudn't consider anything about them to be "Guilty pleasure" of mine.

Funny he mentioned TFF. I was listening to Head Over Heels earlier today and I've always liked it, but never thought to check out more of their tracks. Listening to their best hits and there are some bangers there!

First of all, big fan of everyone who is part of Thralls of Metal: Necrotic Nick, Jammin’ Jon, Rin and Miller of course. However, don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this, but Shredlord is quite a special breed. His way of expressing and communicating each and every thought out his dome is impeccable, literally does not miss a beat. Just wanted to throw that out there, could listen to this man tell stories for days, a true lover of the art of Metal indeed. Love that, love you guys period. 💯💯💯

Thanks Shredlord for an excellent 20 albums list! Interesting story for you about Type O Negative . . . I caught them in 1995 when they opened for Queensrÿche and played the set in black lighting - Amazing show! I lived in NY growing up, play drums and I'm older, so RUSH, Anthrax and Dream Theater are on my list along with many you mentioned Take care!

Nevermore's dreaming neon black is the shit. Thin line is top 10 all time maiden song. That song is healing. You can tell Dave and Adrian missed each other. Bruce reminding the world why he's a legend. That and Montsegur are my fav new Era maiden songs. Solid list bro. We got very similar taste. My metal 2.0 journey was your 1.0 God I'm old. Best Opeth is morningrise or Watershed or Blackwater Park or.....lol.

Great list mate! Been a huge fan of metal all my life too. In the spirit of sharing, made a list of my "top 20 meaningful albums" I loved as a kid/teenager growing up in the '80's. Some of this is just rock, but back in the day, was considered "metal". AC/DC - For Those about to Rock We Salute You (1981), Accept - Balls to the Wall (1984), Aerosmith - Rocks (1976), Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973), Death Angel - Frolic Through the Park (1988), Dio - The Last in Line (1984), Dokken - Tooth and Nail (1984)(George Lynch!), Iron Maiden - Powerslave (1984), Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith (1984), Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin I (1969), Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? (1986), Megadeth - So Far, So Good... So What! (1988), Metallica - Master of Puppets (1986), Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil (1983), Motorhead - No Sleep At All (1988), Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz (1980), Slayer - Rein In Blood (1986), Suicidal Tendencies - Controlled by Hatred/Feel Like Shit... Deja Vu (1989), Van Halen - Van Halen I (1978), W.A.S.P. - The Last Command (1985) (Chris Holmes' guitar tone!)

My 20 would be: Slayer- Divine Intervention when I saw the music video for Dittohead there was no going back to regular music!!! Pantera- Far Beyond Driven Deicide- Self Titled Deicide- Legion Megadeth- Rust in Peace Meshuggah- None EP Meshuggah- Chaosphere Metallica- Master of Puppets Sepultura- Chaos AD Fear Factory- Demanufacture Testament- Low Suffocation- Piercied From Within Hatebreed- Satisfaction is the Death of Desire Machine Head- Burn My Eyes At the Gates- Slaughter of the Soul The Haunted- The Haunted Made me do it Nile- Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren Ka Nile- Black Seeds of Vengeance DOWN- NOLA IN Flames- Colony I heard all these albums as a teenager and they were all albums that opened my eyes as to what the possibilities in metal were and made me search for more heavy, more brutal, more faster, and more fucked up!!!! I was born in 1980 if that makes any difference and discovered metal at the age of 14.

1. Pantera - The Great Southern Trendkill (1996), it is the first Pantera album I bought with my money and heard from a friend of mine. Was blown away by it. 2. King Diamond - The Graveyard (1996), I know it’s funny, but after The Eye I thought King Diamond was over because it was my cousins that had Mercyful Fate and KD albums. Low and behold same friend of mine Jacob said no way check it out, we were freshmen and there it was King Diamond The Graveyard and got back into KD again thanks to him. 3. Deicide - Legion (1992), honestly I was 12, not too far from my 13th birthday, when my cousin’s BF played this. I was like holy shit! Totally fell in love with this and he also had the S/t and played that one too. Been a fan ever since. 4. Sepultura - Arise (1991), heard of the band, and found Arise on cassette. This was even during the time I believe Roots was already out and shit, but I bought this and loved it. I think the next Sepultura album I got was Roots eventually. 5. Megadeth - Youthanasia (1994), another one I bought with my own dineros, for the time I jammed this quite a bit and it got me thru some shit. Again I heard all the other MD albums before this due to friends or cousins, but this one spoke to me for some reason. A Tout Le Monde was my French Lesson 😂 6. Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon (1993) Holy Fuck is all I can say, so raw and evil and hadn’t heard anything like this since Sodom’s Obssessed by Cruelty. A friend of mine back home in Astoria, Oregon, known for The Goonies and some movies, but also has a huge Scandinavian heritage…. Anyways the buddy of mine had cousins in Norway that would send home some Black Metal albums and this was one he said Bro, check this and tell me what you think? It opened new doors for me and my love and passion for Black Metal began. 7. Testament - The Legacy (1987), my buddy Jacob’s uncle had this on vinyl, but he really didn’t want to play his vinyl much. So the funny thing a few months later I found it on vinyl in a video store that was also selling used music. I said right the fuck on and bought it for $5 got home popped it on, and the opening riff of Over the Wall sucked me in. For the time I thought that it was better than Metallica, but MoP beats that by a c*nt hair IMO and jammed this more. 8. Kick Axe - Vices (1984), I think the cover art drew me, interesting and stuff. I thought what the hell. Again I found this as the video store. It’s a fun album to me for an 80’s metal album and I have the cd and vinyl today. There are some good sing along tracks. 9. Cannibal Corpse - Tomb of the Mutilated (1994), this album kicks so much ass and remember seeing Hammer Smashed Face on Ace Ventura. Was instantly hooked. I even played it last night on the Tube and my 2 year old lost his mind, all over the place dancing and grunting 😂 10. Corrosion of Conformity - Deliverance (1996), I liked the sludge of this album, and at the time, it was inspiring to me before I dig into their first couple albums and realized they were a crossover band. This band kicks ass IMO 11. Morbid Angel - Covenant (1993), I heard Morbid Angel before, and I remembered I liked them, but it was watching Beavis and Butthead that I saw the video for God of Emptiness, and believe that was the actual first MA vid I saw on MTV. Instantly fell in love with this band and Pete’s chops are insane. 12. Korn - Life is Peachy (1996), it was around this time 15 or 16, I started seeing the craze for this band and didn’t really get the whole Addidas craze. Even my thrasher friend Gabe went into this mode and he intro’d me to this album. For the time I thought it was cool, before I really even knew what Nu Metal was about. I think it was after Issues, I fell off the bandwagon, then I had a roommate that was heavily into Korn, but yeah I was already done with them by then 😑 13. Nevermore - S/t (1995), I was entranced by Warrel Dane’s voice for this time. He had that 80’s voice I hadn’t heard in a long time. And this was even before I knew he was in Sanctuary. I used to sing like him with the high voices, not so much anymore 😂 loved everything about this album. 14. Voivod - Nothingface (1989), I needed to find new music, so of course I signed up under a pseudonym for Columbia records. I saw this Voivod album Negatron and thought what the hell? I thought it was ok, not even knowing Voivods past… then I found Nothingface used in a video store for sell, $3 😂 I miss those days, but I like the opening track The Unknown Knows, and it just went on. Astronomy Domine is an ok cover, but IMO this album is no slouch and I really like it. 15. Incantation - Mortal Throne of the Nazarene (1994), Unholy fuckin Satan!!!! Another one of my cousins BF introduced me to this brutal stuff. Entranced by the atmosphere and the disgusting vocals. One of my all time favorite death metal albums and bands. Met John McEntee at a show in San Diego a couple years ago as well and he is really cool. 16. Immortal - Battles in the North (1995), another BM band I got into courtesy of my buddy’s cousin sending shit over to him from Norway. I couldn’t believe how fast the blast beats were on this album, I thought it was a machine. Who knows? 17. Dream Theater - Images and Words (1992), my buddy Jacob and his uncle got me into this band around 93 or 94 just before Awake came out. What drew me was the incredible musicianship, it is so awesome…. Note to self I need to get back into this band because I fell off after Train of Thought. Personal reasons 18. SLAAAAAAAYYYYYEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!! - Divine Intervention (1994), I’ve heard Slayer for years due to my cousins once again before this album came out, but for some odd reason this album spoke to me and I actually do go back to this album quite a bit. Songs like Dittohead, Killing Fields, Circle of Beliefs are still catchy, they sometimes will come to me as an itch and I need to hear them to cure it. Overall these days it’s a middle of the road for me 19. Savatage - Handful of Rain (1994), I like this album a lot, one because Alex Skolnick plays on it, and he’s one of my favorite guitarists of all time, also I am one of those that like Zach’s vocals. He was a great replacement for Jon when he decided to write songs for the band and be the behind the curtains type of guy. 20. Soulfly - S/t (1998), this came out a couple of months before the end of my junior year in HS. I was happy to hear Max again with this new band. I don’t own any Soulfly anymore, but I will listen to this from time to time on the Tube.

Great list from Nick and yourself. Now we need Jammin John to do his list. These are great because although your journey discovering metal and developing your own taste is different or similar in parts to us it also helps to give us, the audience, insights into past and future reviews on this channel. When you offer your opinion we have an idea why you feel that way even though I may not agree with it.
