Viewer Sends Us Extremely Rare Hatching Eggs 

We were lucky our Easter Egger turned out to be a rooster, so I want to try out green variations with Marans, Plymouth, and Australorp girls. 🐣💚

If feel so sorry for that poor chick! You can see in previous videos that she goes for the death grip, so she is clearly still too young to be handling them. I understand that she wants to be involved, but your boys have always been naturally more gentle and the safety of the chicks is the most important thing. Hopefully once she is a bit older, she can learn to handle them correctly.

Isabella seems to be having a harder time than the boys did learning not to squeeze birds too had. This wasn’t the first time she was squeezing hard. Maybe have her practice on a raw egg or supervise her with. a stuffed animal?

Name the one that got squeezed "Chokie" haha. Poor thing. I am so so so glad they made it, my god. Thank you, for showing that by the way. Far too few would hide that way, lie and say something else happened to the chick. The honesty, and the care to see it through. Lovely.

I have encountered many death grips in the past with children around, thankfully this one survived. This happens a lot, but you have to take care and teach the children how to take care by caring them. I loved how you are nurturing them and slowly teaching them how to care. As far as hatching is concerned, I have been hatching chicken eggs (Australorp, Bantam, Polish, Silkie, Aseel and Desi) for 3years. the problem with some common incubators is that you can't see the hatching process I want to share that amazing process with my children. I would love to hatch Wyandotte, Ko Shamo and Sebright this year, with this incubator it would double the joy. Keep up the great work.

Well since you asked what to do with bella, ill throw in my 50c. I used to work in child care and we where always told to say what you want, not what you don't want. You were telling Bella 'don't squeeze, don't squeeze' only at the very end did bec say 'we need to teach her to have loose hands' This is a tough one because most people say 'don't do ..' automatically, myself included. While Bella is learning, continue to reinforce and demonstrate using 'loose hands' and she'll work it out. You guys are doing a good job ❤❤

Please do not let that baby handle any more animals.

Omg my 8yr olds birthday is the 26th and he has been bugging us for an incubator! He wants to incubate some of our Turkey eggs, and our little bantam chicken eggs! Our bantam rooster didn’t make it this winter and he has been devastated so to be able to hatch another would be such a blessing! I really like that you include the kids in the journey of raising the birds. I have always included my kids in whatever may come with raising animals. I would love to have the incubator to hatch out quail and naked neck chickens. Our incubator quit last year and I just haven't had a chance to replace it. Thank you for your videos

It’s said that my people (Hmong) originated from Tibet, migrated down to China(where we have the most history in) then disperse throughout the world from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, the states, France, Australia and many more places.

My wife and I are on our homesteading journey. Basically starting out how you guys did. We’ve hatched silkies this year, and a “barnyard mix” of eggs that originally got us hooked. The incubator we have now doesn’t rotate the eggs 😂 so I wake up every night to hand turn them. Probably for our next batch I’ll have to buy a turner because we are for sure going to keep hatching eggs and 18 days of waking up at night to turn eggs gets you s little wonky. Would love this one, especially if it turns eggs😂 been watching forever - learned to hatch from this channel. Thanks!!!

Isabella is learning. I had the same issue when my boys were little. We did the open hand as well. We figured if they fell off our hands-at child's level, survival was still better than squeezing them! I'm glad the little chick did alright! I'm wanting to hatch cortunix quail. I'm building a coop with plenty of floor space and hides to add branches to make them feel more secure.

Hi! I’ll be honest I’m usually that person that watches every video but never comments because I’m too nervous, but I LOVE your channel and what you do as a family and for the homestead community. This is my first year having chickens and I would LOVE to have this incubator as I set off on my journey. I’d love to learn how to hatch out some chicks that come from my own flock. (Brahmas, Barred Rock, Wyandottes, Australorps)… I know they aren’t really “exciting” breeds, but I’m SO excited for this journey nonetheless! Keep up all that you do! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm just starting to start hatching silkie. I love them and they bring me such joy. It's something me a my grand-daughter loves doing together. She is only 3 but she helps feed them , get the eggs.

I love watching the interaction of teaching Bella how to be gentle. We have "class" where my younger kids sit and decorate raw eggs. Throughout the day, they carry their eggs with them, learning how to be gentle and how easy it is to crack or break (i.e., accidentally k*ll a chick) before we let them help carry chicks. We want to hatch out some full-size Cochins because they make excellent mamas, and my older kids love Silkies, so we are hoping to hatch some out (although having an incubator would be so much easier). If we had an incubator, I would put our Silver Appleyard Duck eggs in them and hatch out more ducks!

About 6 months ago I ordered and hatched some Serama eggs I bought on eBay. Out of the 7 I received in the mail only 2 of them hatched and naturally they were both roosters. Last week I happened to meet a gentleman that sold them and had a hen I was able to purchase from him and I would like to hatch more Seramas because I love the breed of chickens and very few people in my area have them or know about them. The gentleman I bought mine from was surprised and excited that someone finally knew what breed of chicken he was selling and how valuable they are.

Hi. I’m a young legally blind guy from Canada who’s been slowly working on building my homestead over the last couple years. I’m planning on starting a flock of egg chickens this year I’m hoping to hatch out some Ameraucana or Barred Plymouth Rock. I’m only just getting to it this year since it takes me a bit longer to do everything since my vision is slowly going but I’m not going to let it stop me from living the life that makes me happy. I’m not a frequent commenter but I’ve been watching you guys since I was in high school (graduating university soon🎉). I’ve been taking care of a hobby farm of over 60 birds since I was 13 and have recently decided to add Ayam Cemanis to the farm. I got some very nice eggs that are currently hatching out but plan to then hatch eggs from them when they start laying later this year. I’m currently using several 7 egg incubators that I’ve accumulated over the years so having a solid single incubator to hatch eggs would be wonderful. Once I get a good breeding flock going I would love to send you eggs sometime!

Hmong viewer here as well. Hmong chickens are a fibromelanistic breed just as silkies, sumatras, Ayam cemanis, and Svarthöna chickens. There are no set standard for Hmong chickens but I am pretty sure the one with the feathers is a mixed bird. Been following your channel since bamboo hatched. Thank you for recognizing the Hmong chicken.

An incubator from y’all would be an amazing gift to wildlife rehab. We use incubators for fallen nests and neonatal animals like squirrels and opossums. If I hatched out chickens away from the hen I would be hatching out Delaware farm crosses for more egg layers. I’m from Texas and we’re approaching baby season

I can't wait to see these chickens grow up! They are amazing. When I was about Isabella's age I "fed" the goldfish. It didn't work well for the goldfish. Children sometimes do learn the hard way. She will learn to be gentle. She has wonderful teachers :)

I would love to be blessed with this incubator being that the one I have doesn't work anymore and I had used it to hatch out button quail and ducks in the past. I now have a 2 yo step daughter and expecting my first of my own soon and would love to experience hatching more birds with the both of them. Hi my cousin-14 yr. and I-15 yr. made RU-vid channels based off of yours and have been subscribers for years. We love hatching chicks and are trying to start our own business but we just don't have the money to spend on a better bigger incubator, right now we only have a 12 egg incubator that barely works. We will be hatching cream legbars, americanas, white leghorns, light brahmas, dark brahmas, and trying to make our own meat breed. Even tho you probably wont even see this comment we would love to get an incubator from you. We love your videos, keep up the amazing work you've always done. I think it's understandable with the chicks and kids- they're going to grow up around chickens and they need to learn to handle them. It really was only a few seconds and you didn't scream and stress her into dropping it- it happens sometimes and you handled it calmly enough to not scare her from them in the future

Our family loves watching your videos! We recently moved to a property with acreage chasing our dream to live off the land and to raise farm animals. It would be amazing if we could have an incubator to hatch and experiment all different types of birds. It would be really enjoyable to watch baby chicks grow and to teach others all about raising them. Some breeds that interest our family are: Silkes, Ayam Cemani, Mandarin ducks, and Rhode Island Red. It wold be a blast having so many birds and I also think that the Mandarins would really enjoy our pond. Your channel has truly been such a blessing and so helpful on teaching us and we would love to use our knowledge to teach others too.

We have Rahmelsloher cuddly chickens, a cute Araucana, our two Idas are Silverudds Bla, a Maran hen, and Sundheimer hens, plus an Orpington, a flower chicken and a Wyandotte. Two Australorps and Barnevelder and Bielefelder Kennhüner. Now we want to expand this troop even more. My son's wish was to hatch a colorful cardboard box with hatching eggs. Strupphuhn eggs, lavender Araucaner, Blauleger, New hempshire, Amrocks, etc. So a really colorful mixture! And for this we are still looking for a suitable incubator. Yeah… I have a two year old and I NEVER let him touch our baby chicks. You’re heart was in the right place, but it’s just not responsible for the chicks sake. The most I let my son do is touch or pet them while I hold them.

I am glad the squeezy toy made it :) I have been saving up for an incubator. 9 weeks ago I got some chickens as something for me to do during the day, basically it is chicken therapy (I am disabled and in poor health) Over the last 9 weeks I have fallen in love with those chickens! I have a niece next door who is very involved with them and I would love to hatch some of mine (when they are laying of course) with her then give them to her to raise. They would be a Black Copper Morans / Rhode Island Red mix. Mine are super sweet, my legs are not long enough for them to all perch on but they still try to fit when I go sit with them every day!

I’ve been watching White House on the Hill since I was 10 years old, and I would love to have my own incubator so I can hatch my own ducklings. My friend and I rescue and raise Mallard ducklings every year and we were talking about getting an incubator sometime so we can try to hatch our own eggs, because we find abandoned duck nest every year, and it would be so fun! A new incubator from you would help me a lot. This year I will be incubating eggs from „ispançe” (Turkish bantam) hens. It is an old Turkish breed of which there are very few in the world and are mainly found only in Turkey. I managed to buy a rooster and three hens of this breed and I want it to be something new in my country. I'm Julian from Poland.

Not sure where you wanted to post this: I live in Ozarks area just 5 hours or so directly south of you. My dad got chickens on a whim with a friend back in 2012 finding out about 4H chicken days.His friend got "medicated" and forgot he ordered them so we ended up with orders. Did it once, realized it wasn't his thing. I tried bugging him before he died to replace the flock as it's more my thing. Now I'm bugging my brother to take advantage of the coop dad built. I moved, so I picked some up in late July/August. love having them. Why I want an incubator? Several reasons: I moved half way across the country to spend time with friends moving here. Eventually when we can afford land, learn how to homestead. City it is for now. Until then the city limits the amount of hens I can have (1/3 acre opposed to 1/2). With that being said, I have to be selective about which breeds I look for. So why give me an incubator? Why not? I found out from you that I can order eggs from eBay. The price of one and multitude of options compared to my budget, I'm very hesitant. Right now it's a hobby not a business. My other hobby alone is costing me. If you pick me then I can order eggs: sell some cool breeds to pay for feed or bless my friends with rare chicks. Either way I'm trying to encourage my neighbors to get back into back yard chickens. We're in chicken country but the city is anti BYC. We need to change that.

Bella will learn. You were clearly watching her and you told her to be gentle and from my perspective it seemed like she was listening and trying to follow your directions. She’s still so little it’s hard for her to hear “let go” and immediately translate that into relaxing her hand muscles. And you can tell she was picking up on your fear and probably clenching more or hesitating because she got nervous. She’ll get there, keep watching her closely and doing the open hand holds until she’s a little older. Also, would love the incubator! We would hatch out a heritage meat breed and start our own little sustainable meat flock to go alongside our current layers. And reach our own little girl how to gently hold chickens (: MI USA

❤❤❤ This experience would be great to explain to Bella that what happened to the chick was an ouchie or a booboo and that she needs to be more gentle because the chick is just a baby. You can put her hand inside of your hand and show her gentle holding. Yall are wonderful parents and have done a great job with yalls children. ❤❤❤

I have a daycare in my home, and we love to incubate chicks! The first time chicks were held, we talked about how fragile they were and if we held to tight we could hurt their little bones. When I say not to do something I always give a reason why. The children make sense of it much quicker.

Hi.. we're a newer backyard chicken family. Last year, a friend traded us fertile eggs so our hen could hatch. Only one survived, a rooster. He got sick and is now our one-eyed handicap bird. We call him Everest or Cleaverest Everest as my daughter says he looks like Mt Everest. We want to hatch more and our homeschooling community would love if we had an incubator to share. Our birds are a hodgepodge of Easter, olive eggers, osterlorps, rhone island hens with an Easter egger mix rooster. Excited to see what the mix will look like. Have a great day

Just starting my chicken dream. I live in an urban area and can have 4 hens and a rooster. Was thinking Australorp and or maybe Silkies. I'm a avid pet lover and would love to have the kids watch some chicks hatch out. So glad the death grip chicken made it 😊. It is wonderful that you involve your children ❤️
