The Sky Tower is part of the Sky City casino complex, Fletcher Construction built the tower from 1994 to 1997.
The 328-metre (1076-foot) tower is constructed of concrete and cost a total of $69 million.
It was built with quite a few structural factors needing to be taken into account. It needed to be able to withstand 200 km/h (124.3 mph) winds, resist high-magnitude earthquakes, and stand the test of time with minimal maintenance.
The tower is an Auckland must-see, holding an array of tourist activities and community events - the annual Firefighter Sky Tower Stairway Challenge is among the most distinguished .
There is also bungy jumping or walking along the outer ledges. The tower is also home to three restaurants: the revolving Orbit 360 (where I had my wedding breakfast) , the fine-dining Sugar Club, and the more casual Sky Café.
