@@K-bq3lv That is correct, and all the more so when the educated person doing the correction...... needs correcting himself. Inverted commas are used to mark out a quotation e.g. John said "my tea is cold" not to be confused, which I suspect our good friend Raymond has done, with the apostrophe, used to denote ownership e.g. Paul's house. Having said all that though... Mess with the machine and you'll get crushed. Heinous acts of protection and self-protection are rife, the sexual abuse scandal for one, is truly obscene. The place where children, these innocents, these babies, who should of been most safe, most protected, most loved, were abused and destroyed by the very people who had the most responsibility for them. Evil beyond evil, what a stain and blight on the Church. A local archbishop who moved troublesome priests, who's now dead, has the biggest gravestone in the cemetery. What a disgrace! They know people have short memories, and they know it will pass, so onwards and upwards and business as usual, and anyone who gets in the way will be dealt with.

As for rupnik, the nuns should not stop their case with the Pope, but they should use their country's laws to have charges laid against him and have him prosecuted. In most modern countries, as an example, nuns who teach are covered by employment laws, and simply because they are nuns does not preclude them from the full cover and operation of their country's laws. They have rights which the Pope cannot extinguish. They must use them.

Michael Lofton has an in-depth video (with receipts) regarding this whole issue and the steps that Vigano took multiple times to protect McCarrick. Jan Hus made the same mistake of attacking the Pope rather than sticking to theology. Regarding the intention of those who criticize current actions and statements of those in power, we should focus on clarity as Dr. Ashenden correctly says. We need to discuss the difference between the wielding of power, and the maintenance of the authority of the leaders to maintain correct teaching and governance of the church. That is good shepherding. It is the good shepherding that is missing.

Allowing anger to govern your words and behaviour is called a sin for a reason. Vigano has a PTSD level of anger, probably for a good reason. What does he know that we do not? Psychoanalis disengages from the spiritual; reduces spiritual to the material. Let s gang up to cure Vigano wo hthe globalist medicine. Make it a therapy, and Its no longer a spiritual matter any more. OK if you must, let us continue in your vewin in order to be so very clever; Repressed anger is the way of the dangerous, slefish, and undermining, manupulative 'passive agressive'. Declaring anger is the honest and repstctuful way. His anger is clam, fatherly and and steady. Your outburst is narcissistic, leaning on materialistic medicine. Not all experienced psychiatrisyts or psychoanalyts wouild agree with you, nor evne armchair variety. You are hoplessly in error. Dod you not hear that anger is not necessrilu bad, unless you are a femmiist who insists that her spouse goes for anger training after she annoys him, as a first step in castrati npof intelligence. Anger, as defined by psychologists is the natural , energising and expressive human response to injustice or plain wrong, and depends upon that sense of injustice. Should we ignire the injustice in order to follow your devils' 'globalist' handbook to attack fair humanity with all its twisted words.

Pray for Francis' harming of the church to end. Whether that end comes via his conversion or other means, leave to God to decide. The old stubborn heretic has been prayed for at every Mass for over 10 years, and look how little that's accomplished. Praying for his conversion seems like planting seeds in a pile of gravel in the hopes of a good harvest. Anything is possible for God, but perhaps there are other more feasible conversions you should be investing prayer time toward.

Rather than speak about his downward spiral (what do you actually mean by that?), how about treating the Archbishop objectively by explaining what he means by the ‘Bonum Certamen’.
@TheLeonhamm
@TheLeonhamm 2 месяца назад
And this matters to the world outside the US of A .. erm .. In what way? Rome has the authority to put an Archbishop to the Question, the Inquisition is still the investigative office of the Holy See, but an Archbishop - of any stripe - may not try a reigning Sovereign Pontiff .. without first presenting a case fit for trial to that Holy Office. What is interesting (and important, for those more in the 'know' than me) is that this judicial move exposes the recent tawdry piece of ecumenical blather - on the role of the papacy - to the ridicule it so richly deserved; Rome is not just one of the boys in a patriarchal (and now also a matriarchal) club of administrators for the Christian religion, Rome is still 'Rome' ... Keep the Faith; tell the truth, shame the devil, and let the demons shriek. God bless. ;o)

Accusations of schism? He downright proudly said it in his “defense.” Some of you people really need to learn about Catholic ecclesiology. By the way, Vigano is the reason McCarrick wasn’t dealt with. He dropped the ball (or protected his friend), and then tried to blame it on the pope. The 2018 report shows this. Go and read it.

Considering your guy Francis is shredding Catholic ecclesiology at every turn, I don't think you're in a position to lecture anyone about the subject. His accusation of schism against Vigano comes but a couple of weeks after his wining and dining of undeniably schismatic Anglicans in Rome, and sacrilegiously allowing them to celebrate their fake eucharist in Catholic churches. The double standard of Two-Face Francis is pretty apparent.

Do you know that that is or do you just hate him so that you say he is wrong on everything? He is not “my guy,” He is the Holy Spirit’s guy. As a Catholic, I put my faith in God. He is in control and my ecclesiology tells me that He guides the Church through the magisterium led by the Holy Father. If you claim he is not the pope, as Vigano does, then that is schism. A disappointing discussion. I write this as someone who regularly likes to listen to your podcasts , but this pussy-footing around the issues is unhelpful. Apart from some oblique references to a 'deep state', there was no explanation of what Vigano has actually said to make him 'eccentric' and 'inaccesible' or schismatic, leaving me at least completely in the dark. Astonishingly, Gavin says he may well be right (about what precisely?), but there is nothing we can do about it, so we should not talk about it. That is a denial of human agency and an intellectual dead end. It is simply not good enough to conclude that: the church is full of rot, but since there is nothing we can do about it, let us declare certain subjects (again which?) of lesser importance and keep silent about them. Obviously the Vatican and Archb. Vigano do not share your view, but consider them to be of great importance. You three have my admiration, but this episode leaves me in the same state of ignorance I was before? Is that catholic? It is certainly annoying.

I do not support the extreme ultramontanist view myself. There is no evidence, whatsoever, that, in the early Church, the Bishop of Rome was like the Chief Executive of a vast international conglomerate, reserving all decisions about the running of the organisation to himself. The Bishop of Rome inherited the Petrine Ministry. That ministry is clearly stated in the Gospels that of “confirming the brethren” or “feeding the sheep”. In the early Church, following the conversion of the Roman Emperor, the Faithful saw this as the fulfilment of the prophecy in Scripture “the Kingdom of this world has become the Kingdom of our God and of his Christ”. The Christian Roman Emperor was seen as the “Vicar of Christ” on earth. It was he who called Ecumenical Councils, not the Patriarch of Constantinople nor the Bishop of Rome. The Councils reported to the Emperor. If he was satisfied that the Council had been properly conducted (no dishonesty, bribery, coercion etc) he would confirm the decision of the Council. Finally, exercising the Petrine Ministry, the Bishop of Rome would formally confirm the decision of the Council. In the early Church, the vast majority of Christians lived in the East and were under the direct jurisdiction of the Emperor. The Bishop of Rome had no supervisory responsibilities in respect of that part of the Church. They elected their own Bishops and dealt with all day to day administrative matters themselves. After a Western Christian Roman Emperor set himself up in 800, the Eastern Empire was contemptuous and declined to give him any recognition. As the Western Empire and the Pope carved up Western Europe between them, the Bishop of Rome, as temporal ruler of the States of the Church, did have complete authority within his own temporal dominions. He then began to exercise the same power as the Eastern Roman Emperor did in his Empire. The Western Roman Empire was constantly struggling with the Bishop of Rome - the Investiture Crisis and the “road to Canossa” are historical examples of this. The Bishop of Rome vested much power from the Emperor and from the other powerful rulers in the West as to the day to day administrative government of the Church. Now, this model has been extended to the wider Church - all the administration of the Latin Rite is from Rome. Then, we have the rather untidy situation with the Eastern Rite Catholic Churches - to some extent, they still follow the model of the early Church. The Bishop of Rome does not have day to day administrative authority over them, yet they remain in full communion with Rome. Mark expresses concern about the Bishop of Rome giving up some of his authority, as currently exercised, on the basis that his present position in the Latin Rite represents the way in which the whole of the early Church was governed. As a matter of historical fact, it was not. Of course, if you believe in the theory of the “development of doctrine” it is possible to argue that extreme ultramontanism is a rather recent development of doctrine in the Church, which has been part of the Lord’s plan for the Church, particularly after the end of the Eastern Roman Empire, the loss of a Christian Roman Empire and of the City. I think that I could accept this argument. However, I cannot accept, as an historical fact, that extreme ultramontanism represents the model by which the early Church was governed.

@Mark3ABE
@Mark3ABE 2 месяца назад
@evelynkerubo7398 As a matter of historic fact, in the Eastern Church, the Emperor was regarded as the Vicar of Christ. However, as you say, the full teaching authority of the Church resided then as it still does now, in the Bishops as successors to the Apostles. Currently, the Pope is trying to move the teaching authority from the Bishops in Council to a Synod including lay people. He is doing this by setting himself up as the sole source of teaching authority in the Church, reducing the Bishops to the status of mere advisers among many advisers. The late Cardinal Pell, in an article published in the Spectator the day after he died, condemned this new approach by the Pope as being totally unsupportable from the Sacred Scriptures and the Tradition of the Church.

It was the wrong decision to become pope. The leaders of the Catholic Church should make the right decision to live a virtuous life and get married bishops to take over the church and never call a man a pope. Call no man father.
@dentryn4365
@dentryn4365 2 месяца назад
Wrong. St. Paul never said that bishops should be married but only that they should be married only once. At the same time St. Paul encouraged celibacy. Paul's recommendation of celibacy proves that the Bible does not make marriage an obligation for all. And this conclusion is in keeping with 'the larger biblical picture [which presents] marriage as optional, on practical (1 Cor 7:2, 9, 26), personal (v. 39), religious (vv. Indeed, elsewhere Paul teaches that being single for the Lord-while also being in strong fellowship with his brother bishops and other priests, and those whom they serve-aids a bishop in his vocation, because he has more time to focus on his relationship with God and his service to the Church. St. Paul-one of the earliest apostles (and thus bishops)-refers to himself as spiritual father(1 Cor. 4:14-15). Since the Bible frequently speaks of this spiritual fatherhood, we Catholics acknowledge it and follow the custom of the apostles by calling priests “father.” Failure to acknowledge this is a failure to recognize and honor a great gift God has bestowed on the Church: the spiritual fatherhood of the priesthood.

At the end of the age, someone will appear (the Anti Christ) who sets himself up to be worshipped and as more than God. The prophecies also refer to “many Anti Christs” so that we could see Napoleon and Hitler as “types” of the Anti Christ in that they demanded to be worshipped in place of God and offered themselves as saviours to their people. However, the final appearing of the final Anti Christ will presage the end of the age and the return of Our Lord, bringing this present age to an end. The world will be destroyed by fire and there will be a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness will reign. So, the Pope is wasting his time trying to stop global warming - when the prophecies are, finally, fulfilled, the earth is going to get a whole lot warmer than it is now!

For unless the apostasy comes first and the lawless one is revealed, the one doomed to perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship, so as to seat himself in the temple of God, claiming that he is a god - do you not recall that while I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. But the one who restrains is to do so only for the present, until he is removed from the scene. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord [Jesus] will kill with the breath of his mouth and render powerless by the manifestation of his coming, the one whose coming springs from the power of Satan in every mighty deed and in signs and wonders that lie, and in every wicked deceit for those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth so that they may be saved." Vigano is a latecomer to the Traditionalist cause, perhaps because it provides him with a platform. He played an important role in exposing the McCarrick scandal. His slide towards sedevacantism is, perhaps, inevitable in current circumstances, but he has discredited himself through various actions and statements. Eccentric is a mild characterisation.
@Mark3ABE
@Mark3ABE 2 месяца назад
I am afraid that I must agree with you. The fact that the Pope refused to take the McCarrick scandal seriously so unhinged him (as well it might) that he has, rather gone off the rails. I found the McCarrick scandal seriously shocking. When it was explained to the Pope that McCarrick had required the best looking young seminarians to sleep with him, if they wished to advance their clerical careers, the Pope responded that, since they were all over the age of consent, he saw nothing wrong with that. He reinstated McCarrick and entrusted him with considerable authority - mainly raising money from the Church in the USA, money being one of the Pope’s main interests. When McCarrick was, finally, charged with child sex abuse, the Pope was faced with a dilemma. Canon Law required him to hold a Canonical Trial to investigate whether McCarrick should be subject to Church discipline. That would have been sol embarrassing, that the Pope simply ignored Canon Law (as he does on a regular basis) and, exercising his supreme authority, simply reduced him overnight to the lay state, so that he was then outside the jurisdiction of Canon Law as it applies to those in the clerical state. I can understand why the Pope’s extraordinary (the mildest term I can find) behaviour has pushed Archbishop Vigano off his rocker. Some of his subsequent statements have varied from “extremely unwise” to “nonsensical”. However, if he is now unhinged, it is the Pope who is responsible.

In these times, with all the disorder promulgated by the hierarchy for decades, I’d say charity toward earnest people is all that can be offered. Derision or even criticism when we are facing a complete logical break in continuity with the magisterium preceding Pope Francis in particular, and post V2 popes to a lesser degree generically has occurred. Pray for the church. I personally am in the camp of “recognize and resist”, that view is where I am comfortable but it, like all perspectives, has major logical problems. I cannot accept previous truths not being true anymore. God knows my heart and the limits of my comprehension. And whatever HE judges will ultimately be my fate.
