SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE CELEB INTERVIEWS! Emmy-Winner Jake Hamilton talks with Viggo Mortensen and Vicky Krieps about their new western THE DEAD DON'T HURT.
Just to remind us of this legendary sword belonging to viggo: “Viggo saw his sword as being the key into his character, and as a result he didn’t really want to go anywhere without the sword. I know there were restaurants he’d go and eat at the end of a day of shooting, where he’d carry his sword, put it by the table as he was eating. He wouldn’t drive anywhere in his car without the sword being in the back seat…”
I’m in the same boat where I don’t typically enjoy westerns, but as soon as I saw the trailer for this movie, saw the set up, and got some glimpses into the character that Viggo is playing, I immediately fell in love and knew I wanted to watch this movie
Fantastic interview! Viggo is so cool. I love the Road, I love LOTR, that Cronenberg movie he did was straight up crazy. Jake was perfectly professional as always, but frankly, the interviewees were just so damn interesting this time. These two felt like very legitimate artists. Excellent answers to Jake's good, thoughtful questions. Smart, funny, humble people. Bravo!
Kevin Costner is making "Horizon: An American Saga" and Viggo Mortensen this film "The Dead Don't Hurt". Glad to see westerns as an active genre! In 2022 director Walter Hill (quite famous, search him up if you don't recognize the name) made a movie called "Dead For A Dollar" with Willem Dafoe and Christoph Waltz. That could be worth a try as well !
It's nice to see Westerns making a bit of a comeback this year with this film and Costner's two Horizon films. They look great and I can't wait to see them.
LOVED this movie! It wasn't flamboyant or having some country western star in it. Nitty gritty and basic, the characters were realistic, and you feel for them and what they go through. We have so few westerns like that anymore. The climax I had no idea how it would turn out until Holger takes out the knife. After it was finished, I felt, yes, that was the right way to end it. Thank you, Viggo Mortensen.
I really really really hope that Peter Jackson and WB dont attempt to produce LOTR movies that take place after the original trilogy. Like i hope they dont do The Ring Awakens, The Last Wizard and the Rise of Baggins. Please dont do that
@@bintube5269 oh God no......well in reality he's trapped and technically still alive. He's just trapped permanently in an endless void. Did you know Tolkien was going to write a 4th book set hundreds of years ROTK, where the world is more darker and the shadow of Sauron maybe lurking around? It kinds sounded more like Game of Thrones but Tolkien only wrote 12 pages and quit
@@Story2ScreenMovieReviewPodcast I heard about that but I thought it was more the influence and legacy being in question rather than Sauron himself being a present threat.
@@bintube5269 It could have either way. Again, Tolkien only wrote 12 pages and quit. Well, I have to ask the big question. Did you like or dislike Rings of Power?
@@Story2ScreenMovieReviewPodcast Rings of Power probably distracted me with this good looks initially especially since I had come off the Obi Wan Kenobi show lol. But there was a lot that didn’t make sense and the scale wasn’t really there so I found it disappointing overall. 😨
Really enjoyed the movie. A slow burner which wisely takes it's time telling it's story. Got the feeling watching it that Viggo and this direction by influence by John Hillcoat who he had worked with on The Road and the westerns directed by Clint Eastwood. A filmmaker who focusses on the characters first and foremost which this movie also does.
Reflection is truly key. 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨ "Before I start, I must see my end. Destination known, my mind's journey now begins. Upon my chariot, heart and soul's fate revealed. In time, all points converge, hope's strength resteeled. But to earn final peace at the universe's endless refrain, we must see all in nothingness... before we start again." 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨ --Diamond Dragons (book I)
3:55 Um. I agree we have been living in very difficult time for like the last 10 years but we've been killing our neighbours since the dawn of mankind lol.
I thought Viggio was charming and generous towards Vicky, but I thought she was a snob in a way that's become far to common for European actors towards American film makers. Interesting how they keep take the money tho.
