My husband bought me this machine just over three years ago and I am now (having just watched your tutorial) ashamed to say I have not tried a buttonhole yet. I made a dungaree dress for my friend's grand-daughter as it is her birthday next week so needed to find out how to do them, I will be making the button holes first thing in the morning. Thanks for your help.
I've had my machine for so long and never dared make a button hole! Finally decided to do it for a skirt (I've just done zippers with hooks all this time); this guide is great. Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial. You need to adjust your buttonhole balance too; your stitches are closer together on the left hand side than they are on the right. There's an adjuster on the side of the machine near the handwheel :-)
Hi! I have this machine and am trying this one-step buttonhole foot, but the machine is just sewing a small stitch in one place without moving? My settings, stitch length: 0,5, width 5, and type of stitch on the buttonhole icon. What other settings do I need? Thanks!
Hi, Try making the stitch length a little bit longer and make sure the buttonhole lever is pulled down all the way. (The one that says PUSH on it). If this doesn't help, be sure that the machine has been cleaned underneath the throat plate and nothing is preventing the fabric from being pulled through. If this does not help, have your local Husqvarna Viking store check over it. Thanks for watching. ~Sara~
Hi Sara, Thanks so much for your help! I finally got it to make a couple of buttonholes, not very neat, as it sometimes stops in the middle of a side and doesn't move. But I'll certainly look into all that you suggested. All the best.
The old fashion way. It's tricky but you would have to set up a satin stitch with the correct width down each side and then a few quick stitches at the top and bottom ( a zig zag stitch of the correct width and 0 length ). It can be done with some practice. You could also just create two buttonholes with the combined size placed one on top of the other and then remove the bar tacks in the middle.
thank you for your tutorials. I have this machine , I follow your instructions, but my machine just stitches doing a go and back on the same line, what could be the issue? thank you for your help.
