Hi Jack sorry to ask but I'm painting up Romans with shields and I see you have managed to make the shields look dusty and aged... Is there a special blend of pai ts to do this?
Hi Varg, on many of these it is down to the shield decals from Little Big Men Studios - at least for the Dark Age stuff- they tend to have a weathered kind of look. I use Vallejo Model Colour Flat Earth for the leather rims & a thin wash of Reaper Brown Liner over the lower part of the shield. It also helps to give the shields a couple of coats of a really matt varnish, otherwise they have a slight sheen & decals can have shrinkage. It depends on what era of Rome you are painting, as some of this might not apply.
Extremely well painted, extremely inspiring, extremely thank you... p.s. Footsore minis come along with their shields, or separately? Thank you for your sharing.
