Recently I made the Cheryl jacket from Vikisews and decided to put together a pattern review for you! Let me know if you find this review helpful or if there are any other patterns you want me to test out and review.
For making the bias binding I referred a lot to this article:

The trick with the teabag label under the cup... where was it all my life???? So simple, so clever. Thank you.

@WelcomeToSteph Месяц назад
Hahaha I hate to sound like a broken record but I think my Mum taught me that trick too. It's useful until you're in the UK where their teabags don't have strings!!
@ssiissoojj
@ssiissoojj 12 дней назад
@@WelcomeToSteph Fun fact. I live in The Czech Republic (Europe) and turns out our tea strings are nowhere as long as in your part of the world. I can only manage that trick in a small cup. Not a proper mug. 😀
@WelcomeToSteph

The other trick is wrap it around the handle! That might work with short string?

@@WelcomeToSteph Yaaas. That is what I've been doing. But it is annoying to untangle. Gosh, life is hard, innit.

I absolutely adore the final outcome!! The work you put into this, my god, it shows! Also, hot tip: apparently water soluble basting thread exists…never tried it but I’ve seen video’s about it and it seems magical!

Thanks for the tip! I have heard about the dissolving thread but haven't got any yet

Hi Steph. Really enjoying your channel. You’re very inspiring in terms of ideas for great projects. I particularly love this jacket and the Alamais dress (sorry about the spelling on the latter).

What a great video, Steph! The scissors magnet - brilliant. You're very generous with your methods too. Thank you. The jacket is beautiful. 🎉❤ I hope you're feeling all the way better.

I love the fabrics you used 😍 I'm from Germany and here 135 or 140cm is actually the most common width for fabrics. I had no idea that's so different in other countries!
@WelcomeToSteph
@WelcomeToSteph Месяц назад
So interesting! There are some 135 or 140cm here as well, but less common than 112/115 or 150.

Your mods sound like mine, making a better garment but making it take so much longer. I would love to see you review The Sydney dress by Style Arc ot the Tremont jacket by the sewing workshop. I don't cut my AO patterns I trace them on to non iron on vilene interfacing as if I need to make a bigger or smaller one the original is intact.

I"m loving your videos - thanks so much! I started with your beautiful graduation dress (I now have a new designer to watch!) & have been dreaming of a quilted jacket so watched this right after! I'm having a summer of dresses for the second year in a row because dresses are so much better in the summer heat. Another style of dress would be great! Your new follower - S

Oh thank you so much! We're in "winter" here in Australia (not nearly as cold as other parts) but when summer rolls around I'll make sure I review a dress pattern. Thanks for watching!

Looks great - really vibrant and fun. I started to make a self drafted quilted jacket last year and got as far as pinning it all together and just didn't love it enough to finish it. The binding part would be so frustrating if I didn't love the end result. It has been on my dressmakers dummy for the last 12 months - I might try it on and see if I like it enough to finish. Great job on yours!

When you are trimming after quilting you cut off the whole extra fabric without checking how much it had shrunk so had you done it then it would have been even bigger
@WelcomeToSteph
@WelcomeToSteph Месяц назад
Not sure I follow... but I did check against the pattern piece before trimming. I'm new to quilting so happy for tips!
@estherreeves6445
@estherreeves6445 Месяц назад
@@WelcomeToSteph so when you checked against the pattern had it not got any smaller than when you first cut it out? I would expect it to have got smaller and in that case you cut off less so it ends up the same size as the second line where as you seemed to be cutting off the full allowance that was there to allow that shrinking
@WelcomeToSteph
@WelcomeToSteph Месяц назад
Ah I understand. It looked close enough but I didn't mind taking off extra since the jacket was already really big.
