No air conditioner and no fridge is a dealbreaker

That is a great view from the balcony Ed. Looks like a really nice place to stay. No fridge is a drag but I'd consider a room like that for a few nights.

I stayed with my Khmer family in 2 rooms on that house near the river, yes it's for family, you stayed in the main house. I enjoyed the breakfast. If the bar opens till 11 that's late enough to get a beer.

Came to Kampot in 2018. Loved my time there. Thanks for the videos here Eddy. Bringing back many good memories for me!

I would give that driver his normal pay and tip, then give him 5 extra usd at least. It looked pitch black out there lol Poor guy- we must laugh and it’s a good travel story once you get back home. It is easy to tip the cute local ladies a little extra. But the local guys are hard working honest men. Try to give a little extra for their efforts.

Amazing views love it. People forget traveling for months at a time, you have to budget. Yeah its got it's faults but I would rather be there over the miserable, wet, dark and cold UK. I remember staying in a beach hut with no Aircon just a shitty fan. Felt like I was baking in an oven. Never again. Good honest review. Enjoy it eddy I look out of my window to rain. The boats you heard are the fleet of fishing boats which go out each morning and come in at night (or is it the other way around?) Is a nice place, but current prices are a good bit higher than you paid. Thanks mate.

A good honest review of the hotel, Ed 👍 Very unusual not to have a fridge, even in a fan room ! I would have thought you could get a similar room close to town ( with a fridge 🤣🤣 ) for about the same price as there are many hotels in Kampot. Great views of the river though 👍👍

Eddie, if you politely ask for the hotel manager, I'm 99% sure he would get someone to get a fridge for you from one of the rooms. Even if you have to pay a few extra Quid. Everything is doable in places like this. I am sure that if you were holed up there for a month or so, you'd have three or four Fridges in your room if you wanted them.

Was there in November, owner (Dutch lad) was an absolute star. Probably best for someone just having a day or two resting before going onto kep or phnom pehn.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I just love Steady Eddies non pretentious presentation which is honest and reliable. ITV, please take note. If you ever commit yourself to resuming the 'Wish You Were Here' travel show, you would be wise to employ Ed as the main presenter, obviously, ahem, certain bits would need to be edited out.

You should check out The Magic Sponge Guesthouse and Restaurant. Best food and biggest portions in town, great rooms at a reasonable price and a nice bar as well. You can find it at Street 730 in Kampot...you wont regret it Eddie. You can thank me later.

Sometimes having a hotel do your laundry means taking your laundry down the street to a laundry which you could do yourself and probably get your laundry sooner.

Must be a Cambodian thing. Our Tuk Tuk driver broker down outside Phnom Penn on a killing field trip back in 2007. Ends up he ran out of fuel. We were stuck in the middle of now whereon a dusty road and a young kid on a bike came past and the Tuk Tuk driver yanked him off the bike and gave him $2 to go and get a bottle of fuel. He kept the bike as collateral for the $2 and the kid ran for a few kms and came back half an hour later with fuel and got his bike (and tips)

That tuk-tuk drivers luck really was out,breaking down and having to push with an unshaven,overweight and beer-sodden Scally in the back.Cheers

I love that hotel ,and i would be renting a scooter so the distance from the centre would not be a problem.

Wouldn't mind a few days or so staying at a lovely place like that despite it being quite a way from the town and bars but they are just a 3 Dollar tuk tuk ride away so not a problem unless of course the tuk tuk breaks down,, trust you helped him push Ed.

Now Eddy sorry That hotel first could be anywhere (sorry plenty in Sihanoukvill) Having said that i made the same mistake as you first time after covid Luckly i booked my hotel for 1 night left in the mornimg (I am 60 so no thanks I stayed at Twin home guest house you walked by it actualy filmed it same street as la gorda (excelent bar for listen to music plus 1 minuet walk) $15 a night $105 per week. Every item in the room new Ac. tv. bed. kettle. fridge.sink. table.chairs.absolutly the lot small room but adequet + next to river can walk everywhere as you know bars + ladies (If you want them)close can even walk to minibus all good for the pocket I understand not easy to choose a place you would have lots of time to look more

Fan room, no fridge or safe and in the middle of nowhere. I would start to get bored after a few days out there. Not to my taste for seven days, maybe one or two.

You scratch my back I scratch yours . Mine was in India when my m/c broke down and a tutu driver that drove by reached out, hook up his arm with mine, and together we dragged the m/c, with me still on it, to a m/c mechanic. Fast forward to later when a tutu I hired ran out of gas in Thailand. We pushed the machine together into a gas station. I paid for the fill up. Back in India, my arm was sore for a week.

this is a good hotel for people who wanna get away from the hustle and bustle if that's one's thang

I expect charges to drop.

Hi Ed I thought the hotel looked great apart from fridge but pool and surrounding area who wouldn't like waking g up to that I no why no guests enjoy yourself pal

Someone made the comment saying this place was a dump . It's obviously not a dump and looks good , pool garden and on the river with pleasant views . Good for a couple or family with a car . It gets dark down that road . Priced a bit high though and breakfast should be included at that price . I stayed at Mama's Guesthouse last week for $10 and it was good value , can use the pool and restaurant on the river almost next door at the Kampot River Resort . I've often considered Villa Vedici now I know what it's like , good video .

I don't think any families are watching you channel. The likelihood of guys going to that hotel is slim to none. Guys going to Cambodia to pick up women aren't going to hotels that don't allow guests.

Looks lovely place to stay if you've already got a lady, otherwise as you said not really for single travellers

How many times do you have to repeat yourself when doing the hotel review? Gets very boring and makes for a video 3x longer than it needs to be, ah maybe that's the answer, content needs to be as long as you can make it!
