I’m from Makeni Sierra Leone. My grandma was a descendant from the Yoruba freed slaves in Sierra Leone. I can relate to your cooking because that is how she taught me to cook. Slavery robbed them of most of the language but not the delicious recipes. Oluwa bless you and your family.

Sisi, i’m from New York, I was born and raised in Harlem. I am a Catholic I went to Catholic school, graduated went to school for nursing didn’t like it. I try to get to New York as often as I can, which is not too often these days. This year my mother would’ve been 90 years old if she lived and her best friend is still in New York. So when I go visit I feel close to my mother, Or shall I say I feel my mother’s presence!

My Maternal grandma is from Imota . I also lived with my Aunt as a little girl in Imota. You brought a good memory for me. I was to attend Imota community School but I got a better School in Lagos. As you call Yemi Yemi I was so happy. I also saw the Mosque at the Round about. Iya Alaje that delivered you according to Grandma was my friend’s mother in law. I know about that kolanut business. May God continues to spare her life for us. Thanks Sisi Yemmi for the good memories you brought us.

This was one of the best video of yours so far.... We also have clay pots here in India, where during summer many people still prefer pouring water in it instead of using refrigerated water as it's bad for our health.. Grandma rocks. Much love and may God continue to bless her and her family and business. ❤

I come from Lagos too but Lagos Island. My village has been a city for so long. But my grandma had the same set up in the back and she was one of the first to live in a house that had a first floor. So she was very proud, posh and well taken care of by my grandpa. She’s been long dead now, since early 90’s. She was in her 80’s even then. Miss her terribly. Because of her status most local women used to come and help her cook and clean.
