The producer missed wonderful opportunities to educate the reactors. Tell them that multiple languages can use a single alphabet. There is no English alphabet. English, French, German, Spanish, Vatican City, and most European countries use the Latin script, which came from the Roman Empire.

I'm happy you included the Cherokee Syllabary at 3:50. (I'm a member of the tribe). The syllabary is also used by the Eastern Band of Cherokees in North Carolina and the Keetoowah Band which is also located in Northeast Oklahoma. The differences are in the way its spoken and certain phrases or terms, kind of like accents or dialects.

All European languages except Greek and Russian seem very similar to me, as an Indian. In the latin script, more consonant heavy languages are Germanic, more vowel ones are Romance and the ones with weird letters are Slavic( it means out of the general 26 set and quite uncommon, don't take it in a negative sense). We Hindus have totally different looking scripts in every language, such that when you move between provinces, you have to learn a new script, apart from the language from scratch. Indo-aryan languages have many voiced aspirates and Dravidian languages have many retroflexes, which can't be transcribed into Latin script effectively( in a single letter), giving rise to tumultuous combos like sch, ch, ž etc. Plus, Hindu literature( Sanskrit and other Indian languages) is like 6k years old atleast, so we read that as well. Our scripts are generally 2800-2300 years old, so not that old but the literature transcribed is old. Also, we Hindus have a 2500-2800 year old ceremony( mentioned in the Upanishads) called Vidyarambham, which is unique and it is the official start of a Hindu child's education at 2-5 years old. You write a mantra or draw some auspicious signs in a plate full of rice, infront of Saraswati, the Vedic/Hindu goddess of speech, arts and rivers. The rice represents wealth/abundance, coupled with learning. Money is very important in our culture, because we don't receive funds from other institutions.
@Bepples
@Bepples 11 дней назад
In fact Germanic languages tend to have more varied vowels than Romance languages. That's why the alphabet (which was originally for Latin) only has 6 vowel letters while a language like English has some 20 vowel sounds.

Lol, i guess it does a little! It isn't, though, but Hebrew is written from right to left. The dots and dashes are the vowels, though the vowels are almost never used in written Hebrew (same with Arabic) The word for hello/goodbye/peace is Shalom (shah-lome) written שלום. If it sounds similar to the Arabic salaam, that's because they are neighboring languages. In Yiddish hello is 'shulem aleichem', similar to the Arabic 'Salaam Alaikum'. Yiddish, written in Hebrew letters, is a blend of Hebrew, Aramaic, German and some Slavic languages. Shalom, brother! 🤍🙏🕊

@@Bepples Are you arguing with 2 Greeks about how they use their own alphabet in the modern day? Also what part of C was replaced with Σ did you NOT UNDERSTAND? I never said they are different letters, I said MODERN GREEK DOESN'T USE C ANY MORE.
@Bepples
@Bepples 10 дней назад
@@Nazkaroth What's with the hostility? I am also Greek. C is not a different letter to Σ. It's a different style. It may not be often used in modern Greek (only in church inscriptions) but it is the same letter and function. Even in English we often have letters that have different styles but are ultimately the same e.g. single-hook g and double-hook g. I corrected the poster because they implied the Greek shown in the video was using an older alphabet. There are actually older Greek alphabets with different letters. However the one in the video is from a Roman era Greek Bible long after the standardisation of the alphabet. So it's the same alphabet as modern Greek: it's just in uncial style (which, again, is still used in church icons).

08:10 This Greek script is obviously not modern Greek. It is Koine Greek that appeared after Ancient Greek 300BC roughly until 600AD but it remained the official writing language of Byzantine Empire until the fall of Constantinople. This is a script of the early days of the Byzantine Empire. An average Greek person would find it a bit hard to read it because the words are not separated and many of them are not used in modern everyday writing. It would be even harder to understand the full meaning of the script, parts of it maybe, depending on the words that are used. ❤ from Greece.
