This is my favorite movie of all time. So glad to see you guys are watching it! I think they forgot about the visit to the Norwegian base in the beginning after the Norwegians were killed. Over there they saw the base was destroyed and they brought back the weird body with two faces. They also saw the “bathtub” / cube which implies that the alien was frozen in there and Norwegians thawed it out. They also watched the tapes they retrieved from the base and it showed the Norwegians found some sort of ship crashed into the snow implying that’s where the frozen cube came from. The movie definitely doesn’t explain everything or tell you outright who’s infected but way in the beginning when the dog was still roaming around the base freely before being put in the cage, it went into a room and there’s a silhouette of someone. That’s the first person to get infected. You can match the shadow of the hair with each character. The puffy hair narrows down to only Windows and Norris. The frame of the body is on the chubby side so it can only be Norris. Whether or not the thing survived or if either of them was infected is still debated to this day. There’s no sequel to this movie but there’s a prequel that is shown from the Norwegian base perspective. That movie is just ok. I don’t think it adds anything important either because we already know what happened to thr Norwegian base.

Looks like they struggled with the concept of polar climate. They didn't recognize the thawed ice blocks as such but as a "swimming pool". Still, they're a good audience for movies.

Fun-fact: the actor used for the shadow-in-the-room scene was actually a member of the crew. They deliberately picked a member who looked as little like the acting cast as possible so as to throw as much doubt over who it is as possible. Norris is an excellent guess, and one that's especially unsettling in light of his long streak of seemingly-cooperative behaviour. He clearly feigned and staged his heart attack very well. Still, he.... it.... was arrogant to think that his stunt on the operating table would kill everyone in the room. (editted a typo)

In cold environment the air you exhale is much warmer than the environment and contains humidity and therefore is visible as "steam" because when you exhale the air warmed by your body, in the outside is is colded quickly and the steam condenses into water. Old movies have their perks. Nowadays, most special effect is CGI, computer generated, often actors act in a studio in front of a green screen and background effects are put behind them later by a computer. But before that all special effects were hand made and so there were many experts for puppetry, building masks, miniature models, automatons and such. This movie is a great example of that. Studios actually made a sequel decades later that everyone hates, the CGI looks a lot worse than the original's handmade effects.

Has anyone forgotten that Babu and others did VR horror games? Those are way way scarier than watching anything. They also went out irl to experience new and scary things to them. They always either overcome or admit that it's not for them and refuse to participate. Both the main channel and this one revolve around them experiencing new unfamiliar things. They were scared of the sea, theme park rides, pools, etc. And this is a horror movie and it's supposed to scare you. Some are concluding the expression of fear from them as the definitive proof that they were having a bad experience. I still look away and hide my vision during certain scenes when I watch horror movies to this day but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy them. It's my favorite genre. I avoid eating even when I watch something like the Boys but that doesn't I don't enjoy the queasy feeling it gives me. Granted there are people out there who don't like feeling these at all and don't want to see horror movies. That's totally fine. Currently, I'm taking Babu's and other words for it from the end of the video that they enjoyed it and they are interested in a potential sequel. To me that shows intrigue and curiosity. I don't think they would lie. I'm also assuming that as full grown adults they would also express to the channel owner when it's really out of their comfort zone as they have done so in the past with many other things.

The special effects of the various incarnations of the creature in this film are some of the best ever done, and I really enjoyed watching these men being shocked by it. I knew it would be a new experience for them. Also, the fact that they think that is smoke coming out of their mouths instead of their breath reinforces their inexperience with such temperatures. I enjoyed the cultural experience.

It's genuinely very interesting to see people this innocent watching this film which is one of the most gory films ever made.

Sometimes I feel bad for the villagers. Experiencing these movies the first time is hard but especially stuff like "The Thing" or "The Fly" with Jeff Goldblum must be weird for them.

Why? This is a well made movie, it's good writing, good directing, a great cast giving terrific performances, amazing cinematography, detailed set design and art decoration, excellent pacing, and precedent setting special effects.

Oh The Fly! Classic! Great idea Marc. Let’s hope for that one as next horror movie for them!

@@Buckaroo_Baldwin of course the movie is absolutely great. It's just that if you're not used to special effects like this, it can make you feel sick.

@@MarcShakeReally I was watching this and The Fly at like 10 and I was fine with it, coz even I understand it was just rubber. These aren't children they're grown men, who are intelligent to know that movies aren't real.

Yeah, the prequel will show them the story of the dog. Although John Carpenter has considered the "The Thing" game (2002) a sequel and canon.

My favorite horror movie. I cant think of a worse scenario to find yourself in. Youre battling an intelligent enemy, you dont know if its malicious or simply trying to survive, if it touches you...youre dead, its almost impossible to detect, it can only be killed with fire/acid and if it gets to water or transportation its not just the end of humans but THE ENTIRE WORLD. Every Winter when the wind howls i think of this movie. It inspired me to get a flamethrower cause...you never know 😅

I saw this movie when it came out in the theaters. It scared me then and that is a good thing. (horror movies that dont scare me is crap.) Bought it later and love it to this day (really fun to have Norwegians in this movie since I myself am born and bred in Norway). Glad to see that the villagers are watching it too. This movie is a masterpiece, hope to see them react to *The Shining* aswell. Another great masterpiece,

The first "The Thing" was made in the 50's. This is the second of three movies. Fun to watch them all for a scary movie night. I would love to have them watch the first "Tremors". It's a classic!!

All these were inspired by a sci-fi story that was written in 1938 called 'Who goes there?' by John W Campbell. Planet of the apes and I, legend were also inspired by old stories.

Even after watching the Thing many times...i still get apprehensive about certain parts so knowing the doctor is about to lose his arms made me cringe for the poor villagers!!! A great film...never ages...Cant believe no warning is given esp wen i saw the fricking EXCORCIST being shown!!!!@@ I will not b watching even a reaction to that one! Excellent variety of films tho...👍 Great to see Babu comforting an obviously scared Aman...hope he wasnt too traumatised!
