They (likely) wouldn't know the difference. It's the listening experience the video is after. Many rural communities only know their music or similar. Look at our nation(s) a few decades ago juuuust before radio stations started connecting with others and people started traveling outside their backyard. It wasn't very long ago. I'd say the later 1940's and 1950's (post WWII) is really when different musics were introduced into new areas.

I know from some of the other tribal channels that RU-vid India tends to be a bit heavy on the copyright strikes. Don't know why they're so touchy about it exactly, but it makes it very hard for the channels to play original music and/or videos. Adnan, over on the "Trybals" channel runs into it a lot because he does a good deal of music and movie reactions with his participants. He's getting pretty good at appealing the strikes but sometimes they just won't budge.🤷🏼‍♀️

What @BobbieJo said. They're not going to be able to use songs from famous groups/people like Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Wumpscut, Sia, and on and on that we'd immediately recognize as a specific genre. They'll get clobbered like a ton of bricks fell on them. The music industry is King Kong. So they have to go with less familiar music, and rely on descriptions. Which if you've ever tried to tag *all* your music by category, you know can have you dithering between 4 choices for one song! I gave up on tagging my music ages ago, unless for something like a Christmas playlist. 😁

I love this panel. Didn't go much on the generic music, though. I'd like to see more music reactions. I know there are copyright issues at times, but some channels seem to get around this by just playing the music and blurring out the videos. While we listen, but watch the reactions. I think if they saw, for example: people dancing at a Rave, with all the lights etc, part of a Pink Floyd Concert, Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Tina Turner, Mazzy Star, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zep - and newer stuff etc, they'd love it

Interesting start, especially playing within the bounds of YT's copyright system. A lot of the examples kinda blurred together, and/or could be considered specific subgenres of their wider genre. Also an interesting thing about understanding music is getting a grasp about how genres shift over time; R&B and Country in particular have really changed sounds significantly over the decades. In any case, as a music fan I applaud you attempting to get into this huge topic! I often say: magic isn't real, but music comes astonishingly close ❤

I wish they could have listened to some really popular American songs of these genres. Copyright issues can come up, but sometimes editing helps to keep the issue down. Hearing jazz by someone like Boney James, Big Band by Glenn Miller, country by Dolly Parton, R&B by Luther Vandross, etc, would have given them more depth when it comes to the various styles. Why cut out the R&B song? They were talking through the others and they weren't cut. I also wish and have suggested that they'd learn some dance moves that aren't tied to their culture. They often seem to do the same moves on the channel, no matter if they're listening to Babu or someone else. Something that's family-friendly and hopefully non-offensive like a few listed below. There are line dances they could try like "The Electric Slide" or "The Cha-Cha Slide". Some of these songs have instructions in the lyrics, so they could be translated for them. They could even go back several decades and learn other popular dances like... "The Twist" "The Mashed Potato" "The Watusi" " The Achy Breaky" " The Jerk" As much as I absolutely hate" The Chicken Dance", 🙄 they might enjoy learning it. There are many tutorials on RU-vid that show how to do these dances.

Oh NOW i understand why Goa has become such a rave paradise. Hip hop, House and generally " artificial " music is what turns on our tribal friends. I THINK it's because the beat is very present, as it is in Indian and Pakistani music. As a rock musician for 45 years +, this was very interesting for Me to see. Cultural diffferences has a lot of influence, when it comes to writing music. In the best scenarios, a popular musician manages to sneak a piece of " foreign culture music " into a widely accepted popsong. George Harrison from the Beatles managed to do it several times. - Especially after the Beatles broke up, and each went their seperate ways. It always widens our musical horizon to listen to music from foreign cultures. I DO honestly think it should be possible to sample some of babus finest drumpatterns, and sell them for money, to the hip hop, house or trance society of musicians. The DO hunger for something new and unique. All that said : Very nice video, that I enjoyed very much 🙂
