I used to ask my elders how they knew something that I'd never even heard of. I was often feeling kinda stupid 🤭 They would say because we've lived 30 or 40 or 60 years longer than you and have experienced more. Okay, but that didn't answer the question why my brother was a Mr Know it All when he was only 3 years older? 🤨

I would like to hear about their clothing (explain it to us! tell us the names of the pieces! what is the purpose of the scarf?), I'd like to know about the different styles of hats worn, I'd like to know more about their faith, and I would like to hear about the villages they come from. It would be fun if they taught us a new word sometimes! You should show them a good video on Brazilian Capoeira! It's a type of martial art "fighting" style that is really more of a dance. Imagine turning break-dancing into a fighting style. This would be that. Except this form of martial art/dance is over 500 years old. It was created by enslaved Africans in Brazil. The dance and music was incorporated into the martial art to disguise the fact that they were practicing fighting techniques. It's a beautiful style that takes a lot of practice and coordination. There are many great examples on RU-vid to check out. I think they'd get a "kick" out of it (pun intended)! 🕺

7:11 Tinikling is a traditional Philippine folk dance which originated during the Spanish colonial era.[1] The dance involves two people beating, tapping, and sliding bamboo poles on the ground and against each other in coordination with one or more dancers who step over and in between the poles in a dance. It is traditionally danced to rondalla music, a sort of serenade played by an ensemble of stringed instruments which originated in Spain during the Middle Ages. The locomotor movements used in tinkling are hopping, jumping and turning

I feel much dance is derived from being prepared for war...especially traditional and tribal dancing...it keeps people flexible and strong reenacting movements that are used for survival and fighting...also it expresses confidence and scares off enemies...sensual dancing distracts your enemies as well...also many styles of dance teach the dancers to dance in unison and in formations..teaching cooperation and uniformity...also good for warfare...dance is fun, yes...but it is way more practical than most people realize!

I truly, truly love this channel, and the gang. And thanks to the producers for your work, especially with the field trips. But there is one major consistent flaw since the start of this journey, and it is picking quality clips for them to watch. For example, the idea might be nice, like this, traditional dances from around the world. But then, like with many other opportunities, it gets so unecessarily dulled by having the specific clips or videos be of very poor quality. For example, the clips in this video were very, very unrepresentative of the topic. This is such an unecessary flaw though, since there are maaaany much better videos easily found on RU-vid. I hope more attention will be put into this, and I'm sure we as a community would LOVE to help out! I hope this will improve, and either way, love y'all

It would be great to see you watch how some of these dancers train or a tutorial on their moves. That way you don't sprain your hips 😄 Ballet dancers and how they are dancing on their toes 🥶 It gives you an even greater appreciation for each places art form

They mentioned how Peacocks dance to find their mates, it would be interesting to show them the different mating dances of other birds and animals too.

Traditional Mexican dances are amazing. You should have shown them, too. Some dancers use their feet to make music. So beautiful. Try the Amalia Hernandez Ballet, dancing the Huapango de Moncayo... simply beautiful

"Schuhplattler" is the name of dance. It has many variations, but the "Watschenplattler" is not traditional, it was invented for tourists.

Did anyone notice how quiet Raeen suddenly became when the 2nd Hula dancer appeared? Saru was worried about a waist sprain but something tells me Raeen wasn't concerned about a sprain 😉. Edit: I just checked. Raeen didn't blink. Didn't want to miss the booty shaking!

There is a difference between dance as an art, folk dances and social dancing. It would be good to distinguish. Ballet is performed by companies in all sorts of countries, while it originated in Europe. Tap dancing ...same thing. But historical folk dancing is regional and has its roots in the history of each people.

I wonder how Raeen would react if he found out that the "dancing" of snakes isn't from the music (Snakes are deaf) but rather a fixation on the movements of the charmer making it appear to dance.
