14:29 Moon gravity is 1/6 of Earth's, but still has enough gravity to pull you down. There is a misconception that the Moon doesn't have gravity, that's not true.
@PladimirVutin
@PladimirVutin 3 года назад
Who says Moon doesn't have gravity??? Gravity is in Everything that has mass... Even an Atom has gravity
@tubularap
@tubularap 3 года назад
@@PladimirVutin - It was Babu (the old man) who said so, because he assumed there was zero gravity in space and on the Moon. Arnon (the man behind Common Man Show) has mentioned that he does not want to interrupt their pure reactions with corrections, but explains it later. And otherwise Babu will learn that from future videos.
@HermanVonPetri
@HermanVonPetri 3 года назад
Even the video they were watching kind of made this mistake. It said that the astronauts on the space station weren't affected by gravity. But they only _seem_ to be in zero gravity because they are falling at the same rate as the station they are inside of. Because they are in orbit they are very much affected by gravity. It's a very common misunderstanding even among those who know better.
@chucku00
@chucku00 3 года назад
@@HermanVonPetri You're absolutely right : no need to be in space to experience this free falling sensation. It can be achieved in a falling elevator or in a Zero-G (inappropriate name but that's the name Novespace gives to their Airbus) plane. The other problem is English language doesn't have a word for free falling other than weightlessness even when there isn't zero-G. In French there is "impesanteur" for relative weightlessness, and "apesanteur" for absolute weightlessness. "Real" zero-G could be obtained in space only in Lagrange points, when the gravity of a celestial object is in balance with another one, of course if we don't take into account the movement of these celestial objects and the rest of the Universe! ; )
@HermanVonPetri
@HermanVonPetri 3 года назад
@@chucku00 The big difficulty is understanding that we can only feel acceleration when there is something pushing on us (the ground under our feet, the seat of a car, etc.) In free-fall there is nothing pushing against our body and thus we cannot feel it. I will give the term "zero-G" a pass because a "gee" is simply the variable given to the force of acceleration imparted to a body. Yes, it means "gravity" but that's only because one unit of G-force is equal to that of Earth's gravity.

Every time I see a video in this channel I realize that our friends are high valour persons. Despite of simplicity, they always teach us about their compreension of things and way of life. Better than this, they have a thirst for knowledge and always promisse to tell the others, going the knowledge ahead. This make me remember a popular proverb (or a famous phrase): "No one is so wise that he does not have something to learn and not so foolish that he does not have something to teach"! Hugs from Brazil once more!!!

I enjoy watching them experience new things ... Being given the opportunity to expand their range of knowledge. We take our knowledge for granted and are willing to be dumbed down while they relish the opportunity to learn new things. They are allowing blessings into their lives and I want them to experience more. In all your getting in life - get knowledge. People perish for their lack of it. Thumbs up 👍 to these three gentlemen for their appreciation when given new things to experience. Folks don't know how to 'appreciate' the simple things we have in our lives especially when others don't have the opportunities we have. The joy I see in their eyes and the expressed gratitude... This is turning into science class and I love it. They should be asked what they would be most passionate to get a degree for given the opportunity to attend a well established university. Then you should just have them do online courses for whatever discipline they choose and make it a separate channel. I bet more people that shared similar interests but have no money would benefit greatly from this and we could see these three gentlemen reach higher potentials. Imagine babu after music theory courses!!

I feel you. But the reality is that they each have a life, where they have to work to support their families. I would love to see them going on travels, parachute jumps, balloon flights, etc etc, and learn and experience so much more. Even if funds were generated for that, they have wives and children that would be left behind or could be involved. Any which way it will go, their participation so far is already changing their lives.

@@tubularap I think they could spare some time out of their day for class if they were getting money from a patreon. A slight correction to the video they were reacting to - it said "Astronauts in space are not affected by gravity". That is incorrect. Astronauts in space are actually in free fall, which is why they don't fell the gravity that is affecting them. They are constantly falling towards the Earth, but because they are also moving forward at a great speed, the Earth curves away from under them at the same rate they are falling. They are essentially falling towards the Earth... and missing it. Earth's gravity is still pulling at them, but they don't feel the effect, because they are falling. Just like a sky diver doesn't feel the pull of gravity (just the wind pushing up against them), as they are falling. In space, there is no air resistance, so their ship doesn't feel the wind either - it just keeps falling, at the same rate as it's moving sideways, and because the Earth is round, instead of falling towards the Earth, it falls around the Earth.

You are right, it is micro-gravity. But in this case that is nitpicking. To let them get the concept of absence-of-gravity is the first step. Many videos will follow that will clarify the idea of micro-gravity for them. I've already seen them connecting info from various videos together and picking up on the details.

@@tubularap I agree - it's a small correction. But the original video could have fixed it very simply, by changing the wording. Instead of saying "Astronauts in space are not affected by gravity", they could have said "Astronauts in space do not feel the effects of gravity." The first sentence is wrong, the second is correct (it just lacks the explanation of why they don't feel gravity).

@@j.lahtinen7525 - I get your point. But still; precise semantics does not fit well with people comprehending the absence of gravity.for the first time. It is not that they will blame us later, for a wrong wording. What is better that they will see a separate video that explains the micro-gravity from 'falling' by clear examples and experiments. Many videos like that are available, and I trust Common Man Show to get there.

@@j.lahtinen7525 - I agree with you that the videos that are used to show the men could be ... better. Both in wording and sometimes in the imagery these videos use. It comes down to selecting the right ones in a sea of videos about any given subject. But again, I trust Common man Show. I see the multiple videos where the men were shown spaceflight, and the videos about the Universe. First the distances, then the imagery from Hubble, the sizes of planets, stars and galaxies, and recently a time-lapse of Time. Together they give the men a good idea. Hoping that they will learn more about the specifics of the International Space Station, and living in micro-gravity.
