Check out this short video I made for the phone apps I use for photography 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k9F34ANs-OM.htmlsi=rXZD090ewbF6VElh I will try and have that 16mm VS 20mm lens comparison video done in the next few weeks and I will put it on the end of this video for those time travellers in the future 🤙

Great video, Adrian! Astrophotography is the final frontier for me and one that I really haven’t explored nearly enough. My biggest problem is it happens way past my bedtime or before my time to wake up in the morning lol

Oh my gosh it was so dark out there, just as well you checked it out in the daylight. Fab planning & brilliant shot in the end. That lens is so sharp. Good job on getting up so early, it's not easy!

Hi Adrian, a fantastic video, buddy! I would sooo love to shoot more astro, but to be honest, if you want to shoot the Milky Way here in my area, that is more something like 1:00 am for the time when its center is visible in the sky, which means: staying up the whole night 😆 Those were some really good tips. I was also wondering about the 13 seconds when I read that beside your image, as I start to get gentle star trails already with 10 seconds on 61MP with 16mm. I guess, I would need more something like 8 seconds or so. But something like f/2 or even f/1.8 gets really a requirement then. Thank you for the video and who knows, maybe I will also do a bit of astro in future 😉 Enjoy your weekend, Christian

Adrian, some really great tips in this video. Some key takeaways for me; it is not easy to get a shot as good as yours and it takes some planning for the best results. I am looking forward to see how the less expensive Viltrox 20MM does. As always, your videos are appreciated and you really have a good eye for composition. Thanks again!

Hi Adrian. Fantastic video. Viltrox are making some amazing lenses. When you do the comparison, it would be awesome if you did the 13mm too, although it is APS-C I think.

Adrian great advice and that shot was fantastic. That lens at 1.8 & 16mm is perfect. I have never tried astrophotography since it’s so difficult to find a location with no light pollution around my area unless I travel about an hour or two to a gator infested location. 😫 Don’t think I’ll be doing that for now. Lol Have a great weekend ahead my friend. 📸👏🙏🏼

These are great tips and thanks for the extra WB info. I still have my 20mm f1.8 F mount lens and going to give it a try. I was looking at some star tracking units but it looks like it would not be needed for this type of astro-photography work. Thank you

I know it's technically not, but it's always so weird to see the Milky Way "upside down" in the Southern Hemi 😅 You explained that you were playing with the WB. I've found that leaving it "neutral" (5000K) has worked best. The Milky Way Core has alot of WARM colors in it. It's a densely hot place. Shooting it to capture those colors really brings it out, even if you feel you want the final edit to lean "cooler" in certain spots. But anyways, man I really want to get my hands on this lens! I think itd be great for events/weddings, Landscapes as well.

Really nice video... Im about to pull the trigger with this lens, the only doubt i have is with the 14-30 F/4 Nikon S lens. What would you recommend? I do Astro, landscape, and i have the 20mm 1.8 Nikon S
@adrianalfordphotography
@adrianalfordphotography 3 месяца назад
Man that is a tough call. I have the 14-30mm F4 and it is awesome for landscape. I just used the 16mm Vitrox for some long exposure landscape the other day and in a word it is excellent. I was going to get the Nikon 20mm F1.8S but now I have the Viltrox 16mm I'm not going to bother. So my kit for landscape and astro is now the Nikon 14-30mm F4S and the Viltrox 16mm F1.8.

thanks Adrian, great video. with the Viltrox 16mm f/1.8 lens, when you switch on the camera, would it autofocus to infinity? or you have to do manual focus to a star? thank you.

This will be ordered this week, at half the price of the Nikon 20mm S, for this non paid amateur it is more than good enough for me.
