I don’t want him taking away playing time from our youngsters. @sauce556
@sauce556 4 года назад
amjan I like the comparison but his true prime was from 05-07 in NJ. Check those highlights and numbers
@amjan
@amjan 4 года назад
@@sauce556 The numbers don't tell the story. After the injury of 2005 and being older he didn't have the same aura as when he burst onto the scene young, raw and aggressive in 99 and then winning the 00 slam dunk contest.
@sauce556
@sauce556 4 года назад
@amjan I disagree. I think after losing his aura around 04 in Toronto...he regained it right after being traded to NJ with several sports networks referring to his comeback/rejuvenation etc. Also not sure which injury you're referring to ? Did he have some sort of career altering injury in 2005 ? Did you even really watch him throughout his career ? Vince exploded in 2005/2006 in NJ- also as far as being explosive and raw some of his best career highlights came in New Jersey in those first 3 seasons.
@amjan
@amjan 4 года назад
@@sauce556 I can't remember well anymore, I think it was actually the 2002 injury that made him unable to play in the All-star game and compromised his jumping ability so that everybody thought it was the end of Vince the dunker. I stopped following the NBA around 2004 or 05 for a good decade so yeah, you may be right, mate :) I remember the Alonzo Mourning poster dunk, but not much beyond that, so I guess I missed out on a lot. Still, a matured player is never the same beast as when being raw, you know what I mean.

*Vince just has amazing jumping mechanics on that court. Anytime he goes up and lands the thought of him hurting himself never crossed my mind he was so good at it.... even at old age he can still windmill just doesn't go for the wild stuff in game anymore.*

Vince Carter posterized so many respected and feared defenders with his dunks. Ben Wallace, Alonzo Mourning, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Dikembe Mutombo and the list goes on... Only Shaq could escape from being posterized by Vince and that was happened by just flagranting him as he admitted. When he jumped on the basket, Vince was totally fearless... What a man, indeed; "Half Man Half Amazing". Undoubtedly, THE BEST DUNKER EVER !

Man what could've been... as a Canadian fan the Raps had a shot early. 1998 roster... Marcus Camby Antawn Jamison Charles Oakley Damon Stoudamire Tracy McGrady Vince Carter Chauncey Billups
@kyleyost1163
@kyleyost1163 4 года назад
Also, I find it hilarious that that youngins dont even know that Vince and Tracy are cousins, and it's one of the biggest reasons Vince came to Canada. P.S. can we give a moment of silence to the Vancouver Grizzlies. RIP Big Country and Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Also, screw Steve Francis for refusing to play for them. What kinda arrogance you got to make it to the show and say naw....
@badaboum2
@badaboum2 4 года назад
That wasn't their roster, Camby (traded for Oakley) and Stoudemire were both out of Toronto before Carter came around, which was by the way in exchange for Jamison (who never even played a game as a Raptor). Billups didn't really come into his own as a player until years after leaving Toronto.
@kyleyost1163
@kyleyost1163 4 года назад
@@badaboum2 oh I know. I was just projecting what COULD have been. Not what was. Jamison was traded to get Carter with GS. Stoudamire was their 1st, 1st round pick. Was out after like 2 seasons? I'm just saying with the players they could have had, a "dream team," there was a lot of potential. Not even including Anthony Davis, or little know history like Dell Curry playing for the Raps, and Steph taking 3 point shots pre-warm up at the age of like 8 lol.
