I have been a huge fan of Vincent Edwards since 1960 and his Dr. Ben Casey Show.... I loved watching this again, just a wonderful line up of talent, Liza Minnelli and Vincent Edwards singing together is priceless... The last set with Vincent singing is something exceptional, he has this gorgeous voice that touches you deep within, the way he went from one song to another with such ease, show his talent as a singer.. I still love Vincent... REST IN ETERNAL PEACE VINCENT EDWARDS YOU ARE MISSED, REMEMBERED & LOVED.

I've been a big fan of Vince Edwards since I was a little girl growing up in the 1980's watching BEN CASEY reruns with my mom . How I wish he was still with us. I LOVE him and miss him .

I love when Bette says to Vince, " It is just my luck not to be sick today."

It was less then half, maybe a 3rd of the line up was in color - with news, sports, daytime and a chunk of saturday morning was in B&W. (Including American Bandstand!) The first new crop of shows in January 1966 (Including BATMAN) were all in color, this was ABC's "Second Season", It was late 1966-1967 before they were fully color - with the last to switch over being the soaps (Including Dark Shadows) and American Bandstand.

The "Vassar" quote is a cleaned-up for prime time amalgamation of two famous Dorothy Parker epigrams..."You can lead a horticulture, but you can't make her think" and "If all the Vassar girls were laid end to end in the Yale Bowl, I wouldn't be surprised" In fact, it's possible Parker watched this show--she lived until 1967.

I love seeing the old commercials intact with this. Interesting that they are all targeted at housewives.

You can tell because the announcer's "This is an ABC COLOR presentation" is omitted [at 0:06] from the opening bumper, 'zardon'.

They did continue to repeat "THE DONNA REED SHOW" in daytime (in black and white) through 1968.

...and, I might add, about half of the network's prime-time schedule was colorcast during the 1965-'66 season, despite finanical and technical limitations. Most affiliates aired this in black and white (either on "kinnie" or videotape), because most of them lacked color broadcast facilities [ABC was the "weakest" of the three networks back then].

It's funny to see Joan Rivers so restrained. I guess she had to be for the time - 1966.

@hippiegirl58 I wonder if Vince knew ABC was going to cancel BEN CASEY at this time (it aired its last episode the following month).

@jklein9823 Isn't that one of Aunt Bea's friends in need of a laxative?
